5 Special Needs Students Sent to Hospital After Bus Crash

- Five Children and two adults were taken to the hospital following a Virginia school bus crash. Police say a Ford F-150 overcorrected after veering off the road, then slammed into the bus. The driver tried to maintain control of the vehicle but the bus flipped onto its passenger side and slid into a water-filled ravine. Bystanders rushed to the aid of the students and adults, climbing in through the windows of the sideways bus. Authorities ticketed the driver of the truck for reckless driving.
people need to realize that driving safety is important, especially near school buses, regular buses, etc. putting people in danger for reckless driving is a big issue

I was already upset, but when the water started pouring into the side where the majority of the students were, my heart sank! (No pun intended). Imagine how terrifying that must have been for them!
Also, to clear things up, I put “no pun intended” because I knew SOMEONE would think I was trying to make a joke out of the situation or just make that joke themselves. :)

Because at the end of the day we’re all going to die and probably not pleasantly. Because that’s life. A series of chaotic accidents. What should everyone be locked away in a cage or executed if they make a mistake? You’ll want people to be as understanding if you cause an accident like this.

Drinking and getting behind a wheel is a choice. Going out and reckless driving is choice when you should drive normally like every other sane person.

I lost a friend that way a few months ago. She died after spending more than thirty minutes under the water. She fell into a deep river with her car, so it was almost impossible to find her quickly.

I literally live in Chesterfield County. This was insane. Sad that this happened but I’m glad it happened in shallow water vs the reservoir in the county so it was easier to help everybody get out.

Yea, When I was in elementary school I was on the bus and I dont know what the bus driver hit, but whatever it was it caused all the kid's to fly out of their seats and hit their head's on the ceiling.

As a bus monitor turned driver It kills me how few people at my terminal care about our kids or take safety regulations seriously. I've heard monitors and drivers say that if they were in a simmular situation that it would be ever man for themselves.

Or not. It could possibly trap them underwater or in a fire. Imagine trying to unbuckle 15 kids who might not be able to operate the buckle, if you were lucky enough to escape yourself.

Imagine if the kids under water were in seat belts and the driver could not get to them to help them unbuckle. Since they were not buckled, they were able to get out quickly.

My dad taught me...no correction pounded it into me never over correct (JERK) when or if you go off the side of the road.
Keep calm and slowly correct the vehicle. This has served me well driving my car and motorcycle.

Being a mom with a special needs child my daughter I can't even imagine how stressed out those kids must have been thank God they all made it through okay and the bus driver thank you for the Good Samaritan still came to help those precious babies. People need to learn to be careful driving especially around a school bus Lord have mercy I hope they catch the person that did that and that person gets his license taken away.
