Terrifying School Bus Accidents

- These were terrifying school bus accidents. In 2018, a school bus driver ignored a barricade and tried driving through a flooded road in Texas. In 2018, a school bus slid out of control on a street full of black ice. In 2015, a school bus dragged a first grader after her backpack was caught in the doors. And the bus driver had no idea she was trapped. Inside Edition Digital’s Andrea Swindall has more.
The driver who played games with he kids needs a raise she did amazing with the kids . That's the kind of ppl we want looking after our children when we can't be around.
I agree. Because she did that those kids will probably remember her compassion in such a scary moment.

I think it's amazing that she was able to stop the bus and kinda brace herself in case things turned worse than she thought.
@@samanthajade3782 Would've definitely been my first instinct too but if I remember correctly, in such a case, when you brace yourself and cramp up you'll absolutely get hurt because you're not flexible when the impact happens.

The driver who drove into the flood and the driver who unknowingly dragged the girl definitely got fired

@justanotheraviator2357 that good it was their really one one kid on it if so it was a good thing
He could've just went back and told the school that they ain't coming
Jail time would be better
I'm glad to know no one died in these stories. I feel bad for the girl who got dragged with her backpack stuck. I've been in a school bus before, but for a non-school related occasion, but hearing these stories makes me extra thankful I didn't have to regularly ride them.
hey
got to be honest, that school bus driver should've been fired,
Not only for not paying attention to the poor girl, but also endangering her life

The girl who got dragged behind the bus did not get off with “minor injuries” she had incredible nerve damage and had to be hospitalized for a while
Edit: y’all they used the wrong video for the story they were talking about, is it so hard to just match videos to the story like damn lol
ye they showed the wrong video for the girl they meant that's why. That incident in the video happened in Kentucky.

It's a good thing that bus didn't turn right anywhere because she would have gone under the bus and if she got released by the door she would have went straight under the back wheels. I still can't believe the bus driver didn't see her he or she has perfect view of the whole door.

A week ago in Australia, a truck hit a school bus. Multiple kids had to have amputations and many were in the ICU in the royal children's hospital. The driver was charged with 4 counts of reckless driving. The crash happened right outside of the school, in front of teachers. Multiple trades rushed to the scene to help and were classified as hero's on national news. The bus was filled with primary school kids. (≈6-12 yrs old)

The driver Tammy Cummings was one of the best bus drivers I ever had. I was on her bus back in elementary school and she was always the nicest person to me and my little sister. On our birthdays she would give us treats and would have a cooler on the bus filled with popsicles on the last few days of school. I was on the bus the day of the crash but my stop was before the crash. Glad everyone's ok!
This scares me because our bus doesn't have seatbelts
No busses do very few have
@Astrossfan Ha yeah right what about that winter storm in 2021 you guys lost power wifi water
tbf even regular bus in some place don't have seatbelt either, we need to fix this
@Kodak icy Well I am in Texas and our school buses don't
The newer buses in my district have seatbelts but we aren’t required to wear them.
See we need a bus driver like the person that tried to calm the crying kid down and not a bus driver like the one that completely ignored barricades and thought it was smart to drive through a flooded road.
Or the other dump drive who drag the poor kid through the road

This happened to my son's bus last year. An SUV ran a stop sign and t-boned the bus. It tipped slightly and almost went into oncoming traffic, but the driver got control and pulled over safely. My son made sure I called the transportation department to let them know what a phenomenal job the driver did keeping the students safe 😊
I thinkni saw tha5 story
@@lily-if8ir Cool 😊 Yeah it was in Metairie, LA
Dylan is an absolute legend for his actions, and his parents should be proud of him. Not only did he know to hit the brakes, but he knew that the only way to take it out of drive was to hold the brake pedal down. His parents deserve an award as well.
You have obviously never driven a bus most people know what a brake pedal is and bluebird bbv bus models don’t have to have the brakes pushed to shift
So true he saved the day
Omg how does a child get dragged and the driver not notice. It's his job to see to it that she gets safe and back to her parents.
Happened a lot when I was a kid (30 years ago) some kids were even screaming at the bus driver who just didn't give an eff.
She noticed but didn’t care
The bus driver was so unaware of his surroundings that he closed the door before the student was completely out, didn't watch to be sure she walked to her yard and drove away dragging her?!?!?
I know why didn't some one else say something
It doesn't seem possible. The door is right there. Their mirrors should have also shown the kid.
In Romania the bus has 17 seats and everyone is standing up. In case of a crash we would all be ☠️
That bus wasn't slipping it was drifting.
That kid who stopped the bus is a real life hero 💯🙌no joke
The driver who helped the kids calm down after the semi hit them and made power lines fall; respect and to some of the other bus drivers.
I don't get why they would send you to prison with a lengthy sentence if you crashed into a school bus because you didn't follow the rules. Its really not a good enough punishment to just be sited after crashing and tipping over a school bus, I've seen other stories like this but that SUV driver definitely learned his lesson he's lucky he didn't get jail time.
And if that driver slapped the bus, they should have slap the woman's butt, not bus.

I’m really sorry for the victims and their families. This is awful and sometimes can’t be helped. I live in Florida. It gets extremely hot in the summer. When my sons were in Middle School, they called me and said the bus driver hit a car ( bus driver’s fault this time ). My sons told me where they were and that it was extremely hot because the bus’s ac didn’t work. I drove to where they were. The bus driver said she “ couldn’t let my sons off the bus”. I said “ Watch me”. I walked right past her, took my sons and 2 of their close friends off the bus. Their faces were red and they were sweating profusely. I was so angry that the rest of the kids had to stay there. I brought water bottles for the other kids and called the DOT. Don’t ever tell me I can’t take my kids from anywhere, especially a hot broken down school bus. It’s the equivalent of leaving a baby in a hot car . Most of the windows were stuck. I guess I’m still angry at “ school bus policy “.
i get that everyone has to stay at the accident, but still why not just leave the oven of a school bus and gather outside?
These people were amazing at handling the life-threatening situations. That's such a scary situation for students (especially the younger ones) to be it. Great job to the people who helped and assisted. 👍🏻
The first bus driver literally put him and another kid in a life threatening situation by ignoring warning signs and literally driving into a flood 😭
These people forgot about the Albuquerque incident where a street racer crashed into a fully loaded bus at 100 MPH. That accident is for sure remarkable.

I'm surprised the bus accident with the Mustang T-boning a school bus at 100 MPH wasn't on here. That was really scary to watch, especially the moment when a student broke their femur when the bus fell to its side.

It's interesting seeing that one clip with the kids in the bus, and the bus lights on the inside on. That just reminded me of how when I was on the school bus back in those days, the drivers seemed to never ever turn on the bus interior lights. It would just be dark.
The driver at 1:20 deserves an award
he alive
In a weird way, it makes me feel a little bit better that the accidents in most of these stories were not caused by a mistake on the driver’s part. I don’t have kids, but it must make parents a little bit nervous to put their kids on the bus, knowing that a complete stranger is now in charge of their safety and making safe decisions on the road. It’s slightly comforting to me to see that the majority of the drivers were making the right decisions to keep the kids in their care safe.
I’m actually really surprised no one got injured on the bus by the trailer of the truck hitting them🤯
The accident is always scaring me when the bus crashed
Driving through flooded street like that should be a year in jail for reckless endangerment of a child.
Good job to the young man who came to the rescue
I’m so glad almost all of these people in these incidents were mostly ok!
3:08 got me
As a school bus driver/ mechanic, most students would not wear seatbelts in the first place and enforcing it would be a nightmare. Then the number one safety issue would be fires. All buses i work on have wooden flooring topped with rubber mat and under coated in a spay tar now add hot exhaust, fuels (diesel or gas) and electrical wires covering everything. In the event of a fire you have two minutes to evacuate after that injury and death chances double every ten seconds.
I will never understand the argument for not having seatbelts in school buses. Seeing those kids bounce around like that, insane.
I've been in two school bus crashes before and honestly it just felt like a normal day and didn't realise I was in a car crash until police came and had me taken in another school bus to school. I was lucky though it wasn't a severe crash.
Yeah one time a car hit the bus I was on and I didn’t even feel it
This is so scary!
Bro took "Please Let This Be A Normal Field Trip" Too Far Already 💀
The bus driver at 1:30 I love how she stayed calm and calmed the kids down
There was a massive bus crash in Melbourne recently... it was really bad and many kids needed to go to hospital
In first grade I was in a bus crash. A black SUV smashed into the back of the long bus and was two seats back from where I was sitting. Luckily nobody got hurt and we recognized at our school for being brave and helping the 4 year olds on the bus.
This both scary and quite a surprise. Amazing!
I'm so glad all the kids and drivers lived through these. Despite previously knowing the outcome of most of them, my ass was clenched the entire time.
People were saying we need seatbelts when I was a kid. I asked an adult bus driver why we didn't have them and he said it was because in case an emergency, young kids might not know or be able to undo their seatbelts in time. I didn't buy it. They later added one seatbelt to the front for kids with special needs as long as they had another teacher/instructor sitting beside them.
The person who ran the stop sign should go to jail for injuring children. (My opinion)
She was so nice
