This is one of my favourite Rammstein songs. I love the Gothic atmosphere it evokes.
Spieluhr - a clock equipped with a musical mechanism that also indicates the time acoustically by playing a small melody
"Hoppe. hoppe. Reiter" is the most famous german child song and play ever. However, it goes on differently: "wenn er fällt dann schreit er" (Jump, jump rider, when he falls he cries). You have the kid on your knees and let it jump, then at the end, you let it down by opening your legs.
They say, in the first version the kid died, but then they could convince Till to let it survive.
The song has a large fan base. Like "Wilder Wein"

The untranslated last part
On the Sunday of the Dead (Christian holiday), they heard this melody from God's field. That's when they dug it up. The little heart in the child saved.
One of the few Rammstein songs that even I as a German do not understand in all its poetry. Literally, it is certainly not to be taken. It's probably more of a psychological story.
Maybe a lost childhood or the inner child that dies with growing up and is buried deep inside until it may be found again. Maybe something like that. A beautiful song in which probably everyone can filter something out for themselves. That's what makes poetry so beautiful.

I often had to think about the actual meaning of this song. Whether it was just a melancholic fairy tale or whether there was more inbetween the highly poetic words. And as we all do know Rammstein well by now, we know as well that there is usually more to it. So I created a couple ways of interpretation to the lyrics, but none of them fully convinced me. However, you just brought up a thought that does make sense to me and I have decided to stick with that interpretation :-). Thanks for that.
@@claudist1263ja genau, es geht um ein missbrauchtes Kind, dass sich von der Welt abschottet. Ich habe jemanden im Bekanntenkreis, der das durchlebt hat und der hat gesagt, dass jeder seine eigene Methode hat, damit umzugehen. Man könnte es auch auf während des Prozesses beziehen, also während es geschieht. Da lässt man es einfach über sich ergehen und sieht sich selbst ganz woanders.
Ich würde mir wünschen, daß diese alten Rammstein Titel auch auf den aktuellen Konzerten gespielt werden!!!

Thanks to Michael for requesting the song, but this video was wrong. It should've been a lyric vidio with the album version of the song. It is one of those songs that lays really heavy on you. It made me cry countless times...
And btw, the child singing in the song is Richard's daughter Khira. 🖤

Rammstein will always touch you individually,. Everybody will feel something else, something of your life will always fit it and touch you. There are still many songs to discover for you.
Wish Rammstein would perform this song more often. Think they only did it live during the Mutter tour back in 2001.

One of their best Songs
Hoppe hoppe Reiter is a children's game where the child sits on the (usually) father's lap and he moves leg up and down to "throw" the child off.
The saying begins as follows.
Hop hop rider, when he falls then he will cry,
If he falls into the ditch, the crows will eat him.
If he falls into the swamp the rider will go plop!
Wonderful video as ever! Andrei mentioning that Dominika was nervous about listening to Rammstein at first also reminded me of something that I just wanted to thank you both for. I tend to be nervous sometimes too, but for different reasons - I have autism, and even though Rammstein is my favourite band I struggle with anything new and unfamiliar. So there are a lot of songs in Rammstein's back catalogue that I haven't yet been able to bring myself to listen to, simply because they're too unfamiliar for me to be able to handle unless I'm in the right mindset for it. Getting to watch the two of you react, however, gives me something familiar to latch onto and make these new songs easier to handle without having to ease myself in, so I've been able to expand the list of Rammstein songs I've actually heard and now love considerably since I came across your channel. So thank you both for that

in the song "Spieluhr" Till had originally written in the lyrics that the child was going to die but the rest of the band members finally convinced to change the lyrics so that the child survives in the end.
I am not so sure about that, because I wrote it to one of the instagram-Channels, which must know a lot about the band, and they wrote, that this is not true. He always wanted that it survives. I only wrote, that I was reading it somewhere and they wrote back, that it is definitely not the case. I have to confess, I think they know what they are writing about, because they have stuff, you do not find somewhere else. Might be someone from the management who runs this channel for them. I am into this band for 25 years and even I still do not know all, just saying.

Interesting to know: the child's voice in the chorous is sung by Richards then 10 year old daughter. Also let me give you a translation for the last bit:
"On 'Totensonntag'* they heard this melody from gods acre. There they uncovered it, saved the little heart in the child."
Also, I believe the lyrics are about a German farytale or myth.
*Totensonntag translates to "Sunday in commemoration of the dead", which is a German Protestant church holiday, being the sunday before the First Sunday of Advent.

there are so many other songs to recommend, "amour", wo bist du, feuer und wasser, spring, puppe, wiener blut, meine Tränen, adieu, etc, I don't have a favorite song. it changes according to the desires and vagaries of life. but the ones that correspond the most to my mentality and life are was ich liebe and schwarz.
Ps : schwarz i know the text, I had bought till lindeman's collection of poetry In stillen Nächten (the silent nights) in French (so we lose a lot of linguistic subtlety of poetry and puns)

think it is absolutely not of the death of a child because the lyrics starts “a little human fakes his death..” and ibefore the break “they recovered the …” this song goes deeper may be about child abuse because the “the child wants to be alone”

The song to me is a metaphor to child abuse in the family. The child is only mentally dead.
Till's real intention was to let the child 'Jakob' die. But the other band members were against it.

Oh, you reacted to one of my favourite songs by Rammstein. The song has a heavy topic. It's about child abuse. It took me quite some time to realised that. But when it clicked, my heart just dropped. There are just very little hints that give the meaning of the lyrics away. I don't know, if you do this, but here when children are little age like toddlers, we sit the toddler on our lap and sing rhymes to them while we wiggle your legs. One of those rhymes is called " Hoppe, hoppe, Reiter".
Now in the lyrics it pretends to die, respectively it's heart to survive the horror. And than the heart beginnt to beat again, but for some time nobody is comming to save the little heart/ child. The child's/ heart is asking for help.
What a brilliant poem. Till (or maybe Richard, who in fact had a tough childhood) wrote the lyrics.
There are bad translations, but this one looked like it was done with an old version of Google Translate. And i find it curious that precisely the last verse was not translated, almost as if this was done on purpose. The part where the child is saved.

Hello, I allready mentioned it, but you must listen to Klavier. There is a live version from Berlin on YT.
It's one of the most beautiful Rammstein songs. The lyrics are sick and it's genious that Till changed just a few words in the last chorus which led to a plot twist.
It's brilliant, the lyrics, Till`s singing, the instrumentals.... everything. The CD version is much better, but they made no video for it.
Klavier is fantastic

Spiel Means play/game and Uhr means clock/hour/watch so basically play clock/hour and since you usually wind up a clock the same way with a music

Since I really like your content, but in the end I very often wish I had seen the later reaction, how you read the meaning of the lyrics again and then maybe saw the song again in a new light, I would like to make two possible suggestions to make your already great content even better:
On the one hand, you could try to find out more about the song in the actual video in order to take us along on the exciting path to knowledge. On the other hand, you could perhaps even react a second time to some songs in order to share the knowledge you have gained with us.

The child’s voice is Khira Li Lindemann, she is Richard Kruse’s (lead guitarist )daughter. She has Till’s surname because her mother is Till’s ex wife. Rammstein is interesting and a bit messed up not just in the lyrics. 😂

Not my favourite song, I must admit. I don't think they choose the subject always - often the subject chooses them (Till). Till's words have got deeper and deeper over the years, more and more poetic. He is a craftsman with words.
Some of their lyrics are deeply disturbing. Mein Teil, Wiener Blut, based on gruesome real,stories.
