@@CuttingEdgeEngineering tell me about it! Whether it be 6'(2m) long 140mm tubes or 300mm diameter heavy press ductile manifolds honing is a craft within itself thats forsure
It is certainly nice to see someone that doesn't waste time and energy trying to tighten each key socket on a 3 jaw chuck. Tightening just one is all that is needed. That also applies to drill chucks. If someone's chuck needs tightening at all 3 sockets....their friggin chuck is garbage! You do really great work and, NO, it isn't as easy as it looks.

Really informative to me as a layman. I especially like the videographer’s ability to use the camera to show and explain what’s happening. No need for commentary, which is just as well judging by the outtakes!! 😉
GDaye . Yes to the full demo of the honing machine , I never got near one of these . Whats the tolerance on the bore ? Thanks for the entertainment mate , good vids .
Hey Steve thanks for watching mate will definitely be getting a video in the works of big girl. The bore tolerance we work with for this is +/- 0.05mm or 2 tenths of fuck all hahaha 😎👍
On the lathe why is lubricant only used on certain tooling or in certain situations? Also is cost and possibly down time the only reasons why someone would choose to refurbish a part rather than buy new from the manufacturer? Would there be a large percentage difference in cost machining a new hydraulic cylinder rod/barrel rather than to buy new Cheers, thoroughly enjoying the videos
Hey Lewis thanks for watching and supporting mate. Great questions. We can do it for less than half the cost of new from OEM and that's if the parts are available, often they are discontinued components. I'm using carbide inserts which can be run hot/dry or flooded wet, I prefer less coolant mess so try not to run it all the time definitely not for the internal machining as coolant gets into the chuck and flicks all over the workshop hahaa
Have a look at David Wilks he has some great information about boring on lathe and making the tooling . He makes some nicetooling .I have used his ideas . You will learn a lot .. we are never to old to learn new tricks . Trepanning made easy
You're doing a really good job. I also work in the industry. I just wonder why you don't stop turning longitudinally so you can stand more relaxed next to it and no accident happens.
@@CuttingEdgeEngineering i assume what will happen is u get anothwr one who won't measure up to ur favorite, but over time becomes your new favorite lol.
Hey Kurtis, great video...love your bloopers at the end 😁. I was wondering though, how do you know where to make your cuts for cutting out the welds when removing an end you wanna keep?
Hey mate thanks for watching! There are certain things to look for when machining off the end like weld type, position, and done enough of them now I don't have to guess haha 😎👍

9K+👍's up CEE thanks for sharing your time with us all
Wish you had a cylindrical precision grinder, you probably only one that could show me how to balance a grinding wheel.
My father was a Journeyman Maintenance Machinist - wish he were still alive to watch these videos with me.
Turd has a beautiful color. he is slick
Really informative to me as a layman. I especially like the videographer’s ability to use the camera to show and explain what’s happening. No need for commentary, which is just as well judging by the outtakes!! 😉
Hey Kevin thanks for watching glad you enjoyed the video! 😎👍
The super slow-mo parts are especially good at showing what's going on!
G day Mate, Awesome slow motion shots watching those chips come off the tool 👍👍 all the best to you both stay safe cheers 🍺🍺
Hey Jack thanks for watching and commenting yeah the slow mo machining always is cool to watch. Cheers 😎👊💥

Those Sunnen AN driver and stones are extreme accurate. I can get the runout to less than 2 tens easily.
Nice work as usual, and man that dog is soooo cute :)
Hey thanks again for watching! Yeah he gets all the ladies haha
Your wife is an excellent cinematographer.
From Oklahoma City oklahoma United States love you guys
Very good Video Good job pointing out on the dozer what you're working on got the dog got you got to see a new machine.
Hey mate thanks for watching glad you enjoyed it 😎👍
On the lathe why is lubricant only used on certain tooling or in certain situations? Also is cost and possibly down time the only reasons why someone would choose to refurbish a part rather than buy new from the manufacturer? Would there be a large percentage difference in cost machining a new hydraulic cylinder rod/barrel rather than to buy new
Cheers, thoroughly enjoying the videos
Hey Lewis thanks for watching and supporting mate. Great questions. We can do it for less than half the cost of new from OEM and that's if the parts are available, often they are discontinued components. I'm using carbide inserts which can be run hot/dry or flooded wet, I prefer less coolant mess so try not to run it all the time definitely not for the internal machining as coolant gets into the chuck and flicks all over the workshop hahaa
Another awesome video mate, can't wait for part 2 👍
Cheers mate thanks for watching! 😎👊💥
Good job 👍never saw a vertical hone she looks like a solid beast great videos to watch at beer o clock Friday 🍻🍻🍻

Back again mate. Always likin anything you and yours have for us all.
Have a look at David Wilks he has some great information about boring on lathe and making the tooling . He makes some nicetooling .I have used his ideas . You will learn a lot .. we are never to old to learn new tricks . Trepanning made easy
Yeah have watched alot of his vids really cool stuff. We do a bit of trepanning nothing like what he does! Cheers 😎👊💥

Hey mate appreciate you taking time to watch and drop a comment thanks!
You do some good work.. like the pooch also 🐕👍
You're doing a really good job.
I also work in the industry.
I just wonder why you don't stop turning longitudinally so you can stand more relaxed next to it and no accident happens.
The Delapena is one awesome old girl. 10/10
Every shop should have a Staffie looking after safety. 👍🤣

Thanks for letting us know where that smoke was coming from. I was curious...
Muy buenos videos , un saludo de Mendoza Argentina , Miguel .
Boring bar? Looks exciting enough! 😅
Hey Kurtis, great video...love your bloopers at the end 😁. I was wondering though, how do you know where to make your cuts for cutting out the welds when removing an end you wanna keep?
Hey mate thanks for watching! There are certain things to look for when machining off the end like weld type, position, and done enough of them now I don't have to guess haha 😎👍
i could watch you doing that work all night , i think i missed my calling , Nice work in getting it on to CZcams as well .
Pretty good stuff. Been machining most my life.
Thanks for watching mate 😎👊💥
@@CuttingEdgeEngineering : all good. It’s been an interesting journey so far that’s for sure. In Michigan so I’ve been around as they say. Lot’s of machine shops here because of car’s. It keeps you thinking all the time so that’s a good thing.
Hi Kurtis, I'm a new subscriber but I've been watching your videos for a little while now and really enjoy them. I also enjoy Homeless. What breed of dog is he? I also enjoy your wife's videos and the way they are done. Keep up the good work.
You have some Talent Buddy. But I still love that dog, nice work.
Hey mate thanks! Yeah he gets all the attention 🤣
