My favorite Christmas movie!!!!!
If only this was an hour long. I would've watched ALL the behind-the-scenes clips
It's such a shame we never get to see the bulk of behind the scenes footage - I'm sure there is a lot we haven't yet seen.
I remember having the DVD to this with the hour-long documentary to this movie. Been searching all over the web for where to buy if they still are selling it..
The best xmas & action movie all times.
Thanks for watching
@@RetroReels you' re welcome. I love this movie.
Gawd. I miss 1988 soooo much. The presenter's voice style will never again be heard today.
RIP
Alan Rickman
(1946-2016)
Alexander Godunov
(1949-1995)
Paul Gleason
(1939-2006)
and
James Shigeta
(1929-2014).
He was born in 1929 and died in 2014. That’s the correction.
Some great actors - thanks for watching.
Clarence Gilyard, Jr.
(1955-2022)
James Shigeta 1929 To 2014
You also forgot "Wilhelm von Homburg" or "Norbert Grupe" (1940-2004) he played James. The henchmen who helped set up the Rocket Launcher at the RV, and got killed after the elevator explosion.
Fun Fact: Norbert also played "Vego" in Ghostbusters 2
Happy New Year 2023...Die Hard is Classic Christmas Movie Forever
Best Christmas movie ever!
Alan: "I'm not playing villain." :-DDD
None of the villains think they are the villain though?
@@RetroReels they often don't. That's what makes them good villains on screen.
I can see what this movie is an classic action film and I truly enjoyed this 1st time this holiday month.
1:17 "John McClane is simply an ordinary guy who is thrown into extraordinary circumstances. He is not some super cop."
There you have it. That´s the reason why the sequels sucked so bad. The downhill spiral started in 2, which was still good. In 4 and 5 he is virtually a super hero.
4 is ok, 5 is total trash
I really liked 4 !
fundhund62 all the sequels are like that, the same thing happened with the sequels of rambo, alien, terminator, lethal weapon, a nightmare on elm street, robocop, etc, we must learn from paul verhoeven that he never directed a sequel
well yeah true.. but one would think that a guy might learn a thing or two from such dangerous and violent action packed experiences.. so maybe john mclain leveled up a little 🙂
Alexander Godunov!! So beautiful!
RIP Sasha❤❤❤
I watched this in Vue cinema the other day and it was a great experience on bugg screen lots of memories from Vhs time
Paul Gleason 1939 To 2006
Die Hard 1988 Brilliant Film. Bruce Willis The Best.
Alexander Godunov 1949 To 1995 R.I.P
Até hoje foi o melhor filme de Bruce Willis 👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍
Super Great Director of cine Jonh Mctiernan. Thank for wonderfull and Amazing movie. SUPER gran director de cine Jonh Mctiernan. Gracias por poderosa y maravillosa pelicula.
Shame John Mctiernan didn't get to make more films - he saw these films as a step up to more serious fare, however he did such a good job of both this and Predator the year beforehand. Thanks for watching!
Everyone let’s give a massive shoutout of respect to Bruce Willis for making one of the best action films ever cementing his career
Best wishes to his health #supportbrucewillis
Turns 35 today!
I had no idea director John McTiernan adapted the book Nothing Lasts Forever by Roderick Thorpe
This fundamentally changed action movies in Hollywood
Given that it's set around Christmas a time for joy and love and giving it's kinda funny
But if you look deeper there’s symbolism and pageantry involved; the core is about family
The movie delivers on action, suspense, thrills, and being immensely violent
There’s even uses of miniature explosions as well as scale models it’s so seamless
McTiernan reinvigorated the genre in the late 1990s, heck it even inspired many copycats just with different settings whether it be planes or boats etc.
There's a great supporting cast from Reginald VelJohnson to Bonnie Bedelia to the late Alan Rickman
Rickman in particular makes for one of the best on-screen villains facing against an ordinary man with no special skills or superpowers
McClane is just someone who's brave and physically capable
Yet we see that he still bleeds willing to risk life and limb to save the day while delivering quips
Heck even the cliches are utilized cleverly
And it doesn't necessarily have to be associated with Christmas despite so many elements being there
The guy who made up the name ' Hans Gruber ' is a genesis😅.
You mean genius?
My hero John McLane
Thanks for the comment and for watching.
Also amazing was Alan Rickman - Really brillant Performance of the Bad guy
Los Angeles Century Plaza. Aka Nakatomi
Die hard was too good its sequels all pale in comparison. 2 was ok 3 had brief moments but this is still one of the best concepts for an action thriller with an show stealing alan rickman as the villian , kamens music at its suspenful best and the great mctiernan directing at his best. Thx 2 bruce and the rest of the cast.
I enjoyed them all but found "with a vengeance" to be the better of the sequels. 4 and 5 were ok, but lacked the spark of the others.
The best movie is the part I ( the first Die Hard) and very close Die Hard III, is good too.
Para mi las mejores son de la primera hasta la tercera la cuarta tanto no me gusto tanto porque era muy hacker
Saludos desde argentina 👍
Woah woah. Die-hard 3 is as good as if not better than the first one. Die-hard 2 is great with minor flaws. Die-hard 4 is decent. Die-hard 5 is yet to be made.
The main problem is that the sequels turned John into a super hero. He was no longer "an ordinary guy thrown into extraordinary circumstances", who just wanted to survive. Now he became the super cop who did not rest until he killed every single bad guy. Also, the gallows humor made sense in the original, while it came off rather weird in the other ones.
Alan Rickman 1946 To 2016
my Hero John McClane
One of Satan's masterpieces. Always keeps me watching
