  • Fully restored Magnetic Flagman by the Magnetic Signal Company. I built a cart/stand for the signal so I can move it around easily.
Notice that the "Magnetic Flagman" title is missing from the case. I am told this must be a very early version of the signal and was cast prior to the name being incorporated on the case. The signals serial number is #255 and has a patented date of 1923.
It did not take much to get it working again - powered by a 12v transformer.

Nice job on the restoration - this one works exactly as designed. The Niles Canyon Railway has three later versions hereof (the fourth was destroyed in an automobile accident), augmented with low-level alternating flashers (a new requirement as of 1947) at two grade crossings near Brightside Yard, Alameda County, CA, USA.

Since this wigwag was patented in 1923, then this means that the wigwag is a 100 years old!
