- In 2001, one wigwag grade crossing signal remained in Tacoma. Located on the Prairie Line in Nalley Valley, this signal served proudly until its removal in 2002. What's a wigwag signal? Well, here is a reminder of days gone by.

The railroads are quite pig-headed about old signals. They won't sell or give them away. They destroy them. If they had any common sense, they would make money selling them to collectors.
It really sucks these are gone. :( That train horn sounded like a basketball game at 2:06. XDD
It Really Did!
I watched that wig wag disappear, so sad. As a kid I used to play with the wig wag up a couple of blocks on Wilkeson by Atlas foundry. Man I’m old!
so sad these wigwag crossing signal are no longer there 😢
WOW i LOVED these :( too bad it is gone.
I Like wigwag railroad signals I Miss seeing it's swinging back and forth
A ton of wig wag signals are getting removed from use because of FRA's requirements, sadly.
Even the mainline wigwag at Delhi, CO was removed because of the rules, which pretty upset a lot of people.
1:51 Bless you.
At least the wig wags will live forever on the Niles Canyon Railway.
Awesome video of the old wig wag.
Yes, those Magnetic Flagmans are getting scarce nowadays. I consider this installation perfect for the railroad-bike/hike/ride-trail grade crossings for which the Southern Pacific originally engineered them; wide-span alternating flashers are more visible for automobiles at railroad-highway grade crossings. To me, it's a horses-for-courses situation.
np's Prairie Line now partly a rail trail with train track
It's in the Downtown Museum now.
You never see wig wags anymore these days little sad
Fablewolf it's federal regulations that forced the change. I understand why, people from parts of the country who have never seen a wig wag would be confused. My boss told me one of his friends back in high school died from being hit at a crossing with the Monon's unique crossing signals because she had likely never seen one before. This crossing is less ambiguous but at crossings protected only by a wig wag it could be confusing to those unfamiliar
this is one in delhi
The Wig Wag Was Formerly Located In Pierce County, Washington
I don’t know what’s more sad the wigwag being gone or that fouled horn
On Unicat Island, They Still Use WigWags On Their Level Crossings Today.
I blame the government for removing such nostalgia.
lmao i blame the government for everything. especially when it comes to having fun with cars, you cant hardly mod your fucking car anymore, it has to fit into ridiculously strict emissions regulations...
Cool! i miss the wigwags.........
lionelkid456 yea I miss wigwags too
Memory says there was one on Ruxton Avenue between what is now Marine Park and The Ram that was removed in the mid 90's. My memory correct?
don't throw it away, give it to me...
What is all over the air intakes ?
I resembles the wig-wag that Marx had in their Big Rail Work Train set.
Is that in Seattle

This was filmed a month after 9/11/01 you know what happened then right?
And what does that have to do with this?
don't you just hate it when your sitting in your office and you see a plane coming straight towards you?
Was the wigwag crossing signal saved ???
Yes. It's in the museum in town now.
Now that people are aware of its location it will probably get cut off & stolen. Real good.
