    On Joe Gomez, I genuinely believe he's good enough to play every week. It's no coincidence that whenever he plays we never capitulate. Slot may go for a more solid fullback, who knows. Joe is without doubt one of the best defenders in the league when he's in form.
    We've never been as solid as we were with him and Virg that year.

    It appears that Kossonou (CB Bayer Leverkusen), Kudus (West Ham), Bakayoko (PSV) are 3 targeted signings of Slot. In Slot's preferred style of play key positions include GK, CB, CM, LA and RA. Goals need to come from all except from the GK.
    Knowing that Slot favorite formation is 4-2-3-1 this is my wild guess:
    - I expect Nunez to be the CA sub and Salah to be the new CA. Jiota will be another CA sub;
    - Mac Allister to be the new #10 feeding Salah. Szoboszlai is his sub;
    - As LA the competition could be between Gakpo and Diaz;
    - As RA the new signings Kudus and Bakayoko could be there;
    - Endo and Trent-Alexander with Jones, Elliott and Gravenberch as their subs;
    - Virgil can pick between Quansah, Konaté or Kossonou;
    - Bradley is the #1 choice As RB;
    - Robertson is the #1 choice As LB.

    I don’t want Mo to leave on a free, and based on his performances I don’t think he should get a pay rise
 but I would be over the moon if he extended and stayed until he retired. He’s a legend at LFC and his experience, professionalism, and attitude will only help the club for however long he stays

    One thing that bugs me is that FSG definitely got Slot because he can win things against the odds. It would be f*cking wonderful to just be on a level playing field for once instead of being handicapped financially.
    There's absolutely no reason why we can't compete financially with United, Arsenal, Chelsea etc. Just ONCE can we not just be the club that gets the BEST in the world rather than the 3rd, 4th or 5th best.

      @@darthpepe2994 those are anecdotes in a massive list of being second best.
      Alonso manager wise. He'll go to Madrid obviously but it frustrates me we can't compete. He's the best up and coming coach right now by a country mile, and we will never get him. Why?? Because we've got 2nd or 3rd best.
      Bellingham, Tchouameni, Mbappe, Halaand, Caicedo, Gvardiol, Enzo Fernandez, and the list goes on. We're always 2nd best.
      That isn't even starting on the lack.of playing squad investment. Yes, we've reinvested, but the board haven't invested. Other teams can invest without selling and it's a major handicap for our managers. This is why they look for people like Klopp or Slot. People who can pull the best out of players.

      Do you think if we had Halaand, bearing in mind Liverpool created and missed the most big chances of ALL teams... Do you think Halaand would have missed all those chances? It's 100% about getting the best players. At that level, the small margins make all the difference.

      Agreed. The team as is was just short of what was needed to grind through the marathon 38 games and win the title. We had six fabulous midifielders, but Szobo, Macca, Endo had tired legs a few too many games this season. Not their fault -- just one more midfielder in the rotation would probably have been enough. And it was a risk to have only 5 forwards that did hurt us in a few matches. Liverpool also did the quad with 7 forwards, where Minamino and Origi did a fair share of minutes. A sixth forward would have helped.
      We are not far off at all. A DM and another midfielder -- keep Bajcetic and Thiago goes away. One more forward. One more CB. Robbo/Tsimikas are fine for one more season at LB if Gomez is around to pick up slack. Trent/Bradly are great at RB if Gomez is around to pick up slack.

    Ten Hag was successful by Ajax but don't forget, by Ajax play all the teams [from the kids of 7 until the first team] the same style 4-3-3, maybe with mini differences but every young player knows exactly what to do in every Ajax team.
    so as coach you must only train and you can do nothing when it's go wrong.
    [this year they had for the first time an coach from another country and another playstyle, they were last when he was sacked]
    they get the best youngsters all over the Netherlands by the age off 12/13, almost all youngsters want to Ajax, only the youngsters in the Rotterdam [Feyenoord] and Eindhoven [PSV] neighborhood.
    the youngsters off Ajax has the best name here.

They consistently make avoidable PR disasters (ÂŁ77 tickets, the Super League etc), it's taken them over a decade to build 2 stands and a training ground when Tottenham have managed a new training ground AND stadium in half that time, and the big one; their cheapskate spending on transfers. Your list looks impressive without context, with context however; we're about to overtake Man Utd on revenue, with a MUCH smaller wage bill... yet our net spend is not only 6th over the last decade, it's nearly half of Tottenham's net spend! They have been good owners, we have progressed significantly under them, but don't ignore that they have significant flaws too

    Whoever they bring in, let's hope they don't bring any highly rated injury prone player who survives on weekly wages and a highly rated right back who has no pace & can't read the game well allowing left sided players from the opposing team to ghost past him.

    please stop hyping up Jones, he is a mediocre player who had flashes of brilliance last season. I would say the same about Elliott, but he shows way more promise. I'd sell Jones this summer if a good offer came in. he would be fantastic for a mid table club like Newcastle or Fulham or something like that.

      Paisley managed for the same length of time as Klopp and his record is 3 or 4 times what Klopp's is... I'm sorry but your letting sentimentality and the raw emotion of the last couple of days cloud your judgement if you actually think Klopp ranks above Paisley.

      @@PatKennedydon I'd categorise rather than rank if I was to pick; Shanks and Paisley at the top, because it's legacy vs record between them two. Next I'd have Kenny and Klopp, because both built new sides and won things. I know many wouldn't feel comfortable with Fagan in 3rd as he was in charge for our best ever season, but he didn't build his own team, he basically rode Paisley's wave and only managed for a couple of years, that has to be taken into context too.
