The amount of pickerel slime I wiped on my pants was nuts!
Great job with the spoon.i never have any luck with a daredevil spoon.
Thank you! It is one of my favorite lures nowadays. I like to let it sink for about two seconds before I start retrieving. Then I try to only go fast enough to make it wiggle. Every 15 feet or so I give it a slightly faster turn on the reel. This seems to work good for me
Same. Never caught fuck all on a Daredevil spoon
Very good catch and scenery!
Thank you! I love it there and it gets almost no pressure, so the fishing is always good!
I don't know how anyone can fish with Ugly stiks these days. When I went to Shimano what a world of difference. Nice video tho.
Shimano are much nicer but when I bought the Ugly Stik GX2 it was only 25 bucks brand new. Today they are around 35-40. The Shimano start around 100. You definitely get what you pay for though! The Shimano wins all day in that department
Quick question. Would you prefer a #5 double bladed Mepps or a 3/4 oz daredevle for pike? I want some tips on catching northerns
So I mostly fish for big pickerel vs pike, but I imagine it's going to be the same. I have had so much luck over the years with the 3/4 oz dardevle for them. Pretty much every time I go out with it I've caught at least 5 to 6 really good ones. It may depend on things like water color, temp and there local prey, but for me the dardevle is definitely my long term favorite
Thank you so much!
I'm not sure if you use swivels with your spoons but if you use those snap swivels with the weird angle downwards I find you get a lot better action compared to using a swivel and leader or a round snap swivel.
Good to know I will have to try! I usually don't use any swivel but I am always looking to improve
Those little pickerel are a pain in the ass....the bigger ones don't flop around as much
It's so true! The bigger ones are much easier to handle and much less like to put a hook in my hand haha
I live lakefront its either largemouths or pickerel.....bought myself those jaw grabbing things for the pickerel, makes them easier to control and much safer.
Never really had much luck with crank baits myself except when trolling. If I'm using artificial lures I'd much rather throw either spoons, spinners, or rubbers.
Same here! I've tried crank baits over and over but I just find myself catching more fish on spinners and spoons!
@@KissTheFish idk maybe it's just me but crank baits always seemed kinda gimmicky. I always kinda thought all the pretty colors did a better job at attracting customers then they do actual fish.
@@nathanielbonde7716 I feel the same way. They do look fantastic, but I know I can get it done just as good on a simple spoon or inline spinner anytime.
