Fry an egg in Death Valley on a hot summer day

- A common refrain in summer is, "It's so hot you could fry an ..." And while I know you need a metal pan to do this correctly (sorry, I just didn't have one with me) your local gas or electric company is still your best partner for a hot meal. This is just a tongue-in-cheek way to test if the extreme, nearly record-breaking heat at Devil's Golf Course in Death Valley on the last day of June 2013 is sufficient to fry an egg in a glass pan?

You can cook it on a rock.
It was hot enough 10 years ago. Today, it would probably burn the egg.
Near Seville in Southern Spain they do cook the eggs, but in rocks that
concentrate the heat. It's not as hot as Death Valley, but pretty hot.
I liked your experiment. I learned something.
Thanks. I learned something too!
@@TravellerherethereImagine how hot it would be now.
cooking eggs in death valley
-making popsicles- turning into popsicles in Canada
The pan has to be either clay or metallic and it has to be covered; uncovering it causes cross heat dissipation; well done though!
That's a glass skillet with oil in it. Put a copper pan out or a black stainless steel skillet. They conduct heat better.
It would have been great to have had the right pan and not waisted our time trying to coax glass to behave like metal. Unfortunately, it's all we had. But thanks!
How does he not even look hot
Black skillet, let it sit out for a couple hours OK? No water, no oil - no liquids to cool the surface. No GLASS, wtf? Black iron. Try again.
fuck you

Thanks. At the time only the glass pan was available. It was a silly experiment.
@@Travellerherethere wow i dunno why I said that but I'm sorry lol maybe I was angry that night
@@jgizzy bruh moment
You did it wrong. Its hard in Death Valley to wait the amount of time needed but you have to let the pan sit out an hour or two. When you fry on the stove it needs preheating too, the pan is cool from your car.
You have to use an iron skillet for it to work. And you have to leave the skillet out there for at least 20 to 30 minutes. Do this and you WILL cook an egg. Guaranteed.
We’re you ok did you catch a heat stroke or something?
Does the heat cuz the camera to have blurry quality?
most likely , or due to low quality camera but it could be manipulating the hardware , since a camera is usually dark in color
Good job focusing the cámara
You probably should try a metal pan
Thanks. It was only a silly experiment with glass!
you need a metal pan
Thanks. At the time, all I had was the glass. It was a silly experiment.
Eggstraordinary
Haha, nice one!
atcually you can fry a egg ....you have to have something to cover the top of the pan.....else it dosent cook
Sorry but have you put SPFon yourself?? I'm concerned.
look for a black rock, it will cook
Glass is a poor heat conductor. If you had used a metal pan that had been preheated by the sun, it would have worked.
Thanks and so true. It's all we had at the time. Sorryt
Metal pan
Thank you. It happened to be the only pan we had at the moment.
I've used unconcentrated solar energy to heat the air in a black painted box with an acrylic cover to 100 C (which is certainly enough to cook an egg) in Buffalo NY in October. You just need a more absorptive surface.
Didnt think it would work as i know of a friend who tried to do it on their driveway at 120 f in nevada,so concrete dont work either!
The 140° is just the ground temperature though...
Is that stiflfler ?
You put the thermometer on the ground surface, so the reading is innacurate.... 140 degrees F would have broken Death Valley's world record.... You should have put the EGG on the ground 😂
@Chocolate Chips thats what he was saying my guy
Hallo..I'm windi oktavia from shandhika widya cinema the keajaiban dunia program Net TV. Want to ask for this account video and permission to play the net TV kejaiaban dunia program, and then we'll include a source/credit title with this account name, thank you
why would you cook an egg on something that doesnt conduct heat?
AC1O1 , it is already heated
nice focus
Public Service Announcement- Its not 140F, the more you know... 🌈 🌟
i just waste 3 minutes of my day
Black iron skillet + clear lid, you'll get a fried egg.
Exactly.
Should of use a metal pan
Thanks!
@@Travellerherethere no worries man thanks for the reply keep up with the vids
No way, you should have put that on a rock or something else...
You a can’t cook an egg unless it’s 70c.
Thank you. We also didn't take the proper type of frying pan.
The fact is it’s impossible to fry an egg in the Death Valley. For that to happen the temp has to be 70c. I’ve been Death Valley few times and I’ve tried but to no avail. I’m from London
@@iamarmaankhan Well - I think with the right pan, the egg may not have fried but possibly cooked.
@@Travellerherethere dude you still active
@@saaaaaaaaaaa7 Only from time to time.
Black asphalt
You have to wait more than ten minutes you can't just DECIDE how much time it should take and 7 minutes is NOT enough time to cook a egg even if it is 140 degrees!!!! Not a fail YET
Thats not a pan!
If you would have parked your car in the scouring sun step out and wait 15 minutes with the engine one then turn the car off and break a egg on the hood you will fry a egg guarantee
Lmao its glass and partially transparent
Exactly!
focus!
His cousins bra? Now THAT'S funny.
He literally did it on a non co fictive TRANSPARENT glass bowl. A non conductive material and a color that doesn’t absorb heat. Of course it’s not going to work. If only his brain knew science.
This wasn't a science project. It was a frying pan we happened to have at hand in the hot desert. Sorry to disappoint.
try cracking it on a rock -__-
FAILLLLLLL !!!! ! !
He looks like a bra? What?
