My opinions about Italy in eurovision 🇮🇹: Without a doubt the most successful Big 5 member country in Eurovision and one of the best in the competition along with Ukraine, and that, just like France, it is one of the best countries in the "ballad" genre almost every year they sends a very good song, even though I don't really like the male ballads genre, one of the best countries in eurovision and not to mention that it brought what would be one of the biggest legends of the festival, the maneskin! So congrats italy for another very good song, i love it la noia, and I still want to travel to Italy to taste of they food 😋

I have to say a thing, I saw some people commenting (not only here in the comments, also on the internet) about the fact that Italy in recent years sent a lot of male singers. Now I have to say, it is undeniable that we have problems because we have a some very good female singers and I would really love to see them at Eurovision but we almost everytime prefer a male and I really can't say why. But I don't like that people say "Italy should send more female singers" and then when we do they are the ones that have the lowest positions. Emma, Francesca Michielin and this year Angelina Mango and I know 7th isn't low, but it is low compared to the ones before her. I mean just in a point of view of someone that chooses a singer to send to eurovision to win why would we choose a female if they gain the worst results? This said by a woman and I love italian female singers but not everyone thinks like this. This is not an attack to anyone, it is just a thought I had some times. This said i love our entries so much and also shout out to Brividi by Mahmood and Blanco (one of the best for me) and I know the live performance at the Grand Final wasn't great but they can sing it, I saw them live, and they deserve so much ❤
Tbh there are absolute reasons why those women mentioned didn't do well enough. Both Emmas and Francescas songs were among Italys weakest since they came back, for Angelina meanwhile, she was my winner songwise this year and she absolutely could've done top 5 or even 3, but the ESC staging sadly hurt her
my opinion on Italian songs (one of my fav countries) 1956-1: calm, nice. Top 3 of that year 1956-2: not as nice but a good song for that time. 1957: longest song ever in esc and its really good. My 2nd that year. 1958:my winner. Volare!! 1959:downgrade but still a good song from Domenico. Just a little dissapointing 1960: somewhat underrated! Love his voice 1961: REALLY powerful, you just cant hate this one. 1962: my winner of that year! His voice is amazing but so is the tone. Tho this is one of my weaker winners, it is still amazing 1963: somewhat fairly rated, not the best esc year so I can see how it got 3rd. 1964:deserved win, not my type of song but she masters it and it ranks highly in my list! 1965: also my winner for this year. Everything about this is calm and legendary. One of my weaker winners, though. 1966:absolutely disappointing from Domenico, its an alright entry but very slow at times. 1967: his song in -62 was better, but not by a lot. In my top 5 for that year. 1968: takes a while to like but I think I like it now and it is in my top 10! 1969: WHAT A VOICE. This is pretty much the only thing I like from this song. But still, not one bad entry for Italy overall. 1970: he made it in my top 5. This one is an improvement of -69, except his voice isnt that great. 1971:NOW THIS! One of my favorite esc entries of all time. Massimo is a legend. 1972:VERY GOOD! I like everything about this, it has an amazing verse. Only issue is, there are better songs that year 1973: not as good as -71 but underrated. In my top 5 it goes! 1974: now this, I don't like that much. But its still an amazing song. Its one of my top 3 favorite years, so maybe thats why the standards are high. 1975: they really do know how to sing together! Love this one to bits. 1976: this is one of the worst years, and this is one of the better songs of that year. Pretty good overall 1977: YOU GO MIA! Her voice is stunning from here. Only issue is its not powerful at times. 1978: I do not like this one. Sorry Italy, this is your first "bad" song in my view. 1979: pretty impressive considering there was no orchestra, but it does lack in some bits. Good overall tho, very calm. 1980: many find his voice annoying. I don't mind it. This is one of the better years and this song ranks in my upper half. 1983: small break from Italy. Deserved as this song is an amazing way to comeback, despite it barely reaching my top 10. 1984: a little overrated here and there but a good attempt. In my top 10 again! 1985:they're back! But I literally find this song too identical to their -76 attempt. Tho it is somewhat better ig. 1987: THE IMPROVEMENT ITALY NEEDED! This is an absolute banger. But I prefer other songs that year. 1988: same issue here, though this is a notable downgrade from the previous year. Still, very good attempt. 1989: I like it! I really enjoy his voice. But it does have the issue of barely advancing in the chorus. 1990:I totally agree with first place here. R.I.P Toto, this song was one of Italy's best and my winner for 1990! 1991:Italy is once again my winner. This song stands out that year above the rest. His voice is also.. WOW! 1992:FOR THE THIRD TIME IN A ROW, Italy is my winner. This is Mia's better song and one of the best in esc history. Though it is a little sad once you know more about her. 1993: A VERY good attempt by Italy but their winning streak (for me) ends. This does get in my top 10 in a very good year though. 1997: Only Turkey is better than this song. It's so perfect in every way. I can listen to this days on end. 2011: well that was a LONGG break. This was a decent song to return but I feel 2nd is a little too high. It will take Italy some years to get back into the game (for me) 2012: a good attempt but it doesnt stand out at all. Mid table in the final for me. Though I can't say 9th was undeserved, as it was :) 2013: I prefer this song over his -023 attempt. It is very calm and maybe it makes my top 10. Good attempt! 2014: its alright. That's all I can say. Nothing really stands out 2015: NOW WE ARE TALKING! This is Italy at its peak. Only issue is its a very tough year and this isnt my personal winner. 3rd was absolutely deserved 2016: this has grown on me but I still feel it doesnt make much of an impact in my favorite esc year. 2017: for the first time since 1992, Italy is my winner! It was a good year too, deserved high placing. 2018: a good song, maybe some prefer it over their -017 attempt? 5th is deserved. 2019: I find this overrated, but I do prefer this over the winning song. 2019 was not an amazing year in my eyes. 2020: AGAIN MY WINNER! This is absolutely incredible! Nothing bad about it. I love it so much. 2021: SECOND YEAR IN A ROW! They rocked the hell out and them alongside Finland really stand above the rest. 2022: Italy's worst entry since 1978 in my view. Tho its a decent attempt, but 6th? I think it's a little too high. 2023: good improvement. Not in my top 5 by any means but I think 4th was absolutely deserved. 2024: I love it. Used to be in my top 4 at one time, but has slightly fallen. Still, Italy are back to being in my top 5! Overall: 8/10. I love many songs! Their 1971, 1992 and 1997 songs really stand out! I also do like 2020 and 21! They are the most common winner for me winning in: 1958, 62, 65, 71, 90,91,92,017,020,021, 10 times!

Italy was my winner 3 times, in 1956 (with "Aprite le finestre"), 1958 and 1964. It was my runner-up 3 times, in 1992, 2019 and 2024. It was my last place once, in 1976.

Italy clearly puts alot of thought into their Eurovision songs, in terms of what they choose as the one to send - and it shows here. As a Brit, I wish the UK could put in as much thought into the songs they put in for Eurovision. It could mean no longer consistently finishing in the bottom five. Bravo Italia 👏👏👏
