4:20 Vampire-II actually as the DPM to take on Gdansk, but on distance the better shell-arcs are a definite advantage. Even Harugumo has worse shell flight-time at 8km. Angling is important however as AP dpm of Haru is best in game for DDs.
Despite lower tier euro-dd's from the alt-line, Gdansk doesn't get the good rudder shift time. In that regards its more like Haru.
The combination of all its tools however....can't wait to grind it out :)

@@gwr3845 I mean, yes it is and it has the repair party consumable. Great advantage in prolonged engagements. It only gets 2 though, just like it only gets 2 smokes and engine boosts. So superintended is a must, while on Gdansk you can put those 3 Cpt. points into something else. Hunting Gdansk is going to be hard, as its even faster and the Radar, while short, is a mighty tool. Shell flight times are pretty much the same. Grozi is more maneuverable. I guess I'd try to keep Gdansk at a distance and use rudder to dodge its dpm as much as possible.
Daring AP with the improved AP damage will dunk the GDansk. People are sleeping on the Improved AP talent. I run it on my daring, I can tell you that will chunk the GDansk more than it chunking the Daring.
@@CCM1199 Daring is an AP monster, with its slightly improved AP angles. As I said before, it's a matter of distance. Gdansk is bigger but on a distance, it has better arcs and shell flight time. Daring is more maneuverable, but you aren't as likely to hit your shells at 9km. That's were Gdansk has an advantage and that's exactly what is was build for. It's not a cap contester like Daring. In a knife fight, Daring will rip it apart, but it's HE is fast and lights even more fires, compared to daring. You are more likely to hit and incapacitate modules. I mean, due to its heal, Daring still is my favorite DD, but Gdansk can win, if it plays to it's advantages. It's a great DD and there's a reason, why it's used in comp. that much.
Even without the radar this would be a strong DD. That smoke combined with near-Marceau dmg output (and MUCH better at range), + the 10km super fast torps... It's a strong bote.

You may even be right. But Smaland was never tech tree, and hasn't been available for years now. So it's kind of a dumb comparison. Like saying Smolensk is better than Yodo.
@@AllAhabNoMoby Youre right its a Tech tree ship. A Daring with the Improved AP Talent will outchunk the GDansk in a heartbeat. Radar is only useful for 12 seconds. once its down and youre in smoke, the daring will come into Hydro range and literally kill you.

Really enjoyed your commentary about how you think about the game from moment to moment basis, as the game develops and situations present themselves. Reminded me of aculite.
Fleet commander already gqve word to get this ready for KOTS, just in case, since it has the infinity radar gimic and good dpm.
Even with all of its gimmicks, those shell arcs + firepower might be it's strongest point.
It still loses a 1v1 against a Smolensk, which is basically 2 Grozovois

@@watdeneuk think it's a noob, doesn't know the difference in class, 2 grozovois will kill any dd, it's an unfair fight. But 1v1, Gdansk is the new pirate of the seas. Been playing the T8 and it shreds the other dd's. But it has it's short-comings, wouldn't call the line OP, but it is incredibly string, another Haru basically.
You also have a good support DD which was a major advantage against the Vamp (which has very strong dpm). Nevertheless, this ship looks very powerful. Can't say the same of the T9. It may be the worst of this line at Tier. Good vid.
Agreed im at T8 with the "pits" it soaks up up damage pretty fast, anti torpedo boat yes, but enemies with light cruiser support will deport you quick
I got lucky and landed t9 in first bundle and used asymmetrical battles to grind the XP.
@@jackcasse its good and bad IMO, with an entirely new line i find its easier to start low tier and work up through randoms as you and hull get acquainted. I got a marceux* when i was new to the game and hated it, but when i spent time working the french line by the time i got to mogador the marceux* started to make sense and i started to have fun with it

@@tomriley5790 whats great about learning , speaking of that need to try legendary mod on kleber 🥴 the panic when you pop up behind a squatter with 12 forward torpedoes or a DD at rest is satisfying when your used to being shadowed
I currently found no way to deal with Ragnar. It's side plate mitigates tons of damage and you have no ap. It has more health, heal and it's damage is more reliable. You can't smoke since it has longer radar, and can run you down with its speed boost. I found it also to take crapton of damage since it's firing angles are atrocious and handles like harugumo. It is still as op as it comes, but I guess it could be worse.
Ragnar is the apex of DD - no other DD really can beat it in a straight duel. French DD comes close. You counter Ragnar by playing to its weaknesses - it's terrible against anything else. It just doesn't have the speed or DPM to deal with larger ships. Smaller DDs need to cap, contest points, and bait out the radar (it only has max 3 charges).
@@blusafe1harugumo Sherman, and kinda daring do well against ragnar and ifhe marceau but that’s a specific pick you’d take for like KOTS or CBs not worth it for randoms

Don't fight it torp it.... lead it out infront of your cruisers.
@@blusafe1 Ragnar isnt hard to kill if you have AP in my experience, as many a Ragnar has found out. The floating fridge is easy to get consistent full pens on with most DDs
Ragnar might be a perma ban in KoTS because of this ship now. Very interested to see how this ship will change the meta at the highest level of play

Probably am gonna give up some things for the undetected speedboost to be like an actual french dd almost. Having to much range would get me into a bad habit of being a cruiser over a dd.

St. Vincent hasn't been nerfed yet. Neither has Schlieffen, at least not significantly. WG doesn't care about balance
@@JustSomeGuyWithNoMaidens when schlieffen first came out there was a bug that caused secondaries on it to become invulnerable. It was patched soon after schlieffen’s release. St Vincent is the only strong ship that wasn’t needed after release.
Why not deploy the smoke against the Halland and stay behind the Druid wreck for torpedo protection?

i played many games on tier 10 ranked (got gold on first sprint) and have never seen anyone pick gdansk so far. many games dont have a DD and if there is one (or more) most commonly i see shimakaze, kleber/marceu, yueyang

You dont quite have the pen for some DDs though, unless you take IFHE. Elbonk comes to mind

Elbing has sections without 30mm armor. Never take IFHE

Hunting this ship surprisingly easier than Kleber, Marceau or even Daring/Vampire. Probably, because it has smoke which make some people think it is safe to park in a cap, similar to USS Black players behavior.

I think the one DD that hasnt been mentioned that can probably counter it would be the smaland. has a faster ROF, Heals and radar plus the 12KM torps.

@@1mol831 Situationally, Druid, Kleber, Ragnar, or a torp DD such as shima, YY. Plenty of ways to win the fight, but a lot require you to outplay the Worcester, in a straight 1v1 gunfight most DDs would get bodied.

Next we will get a DD line with exhaust smoke generator and radar just to make ships like BLACK even more of a meme to play. I know the BLACK radar last much longer but the ship is slow, the torps are slow and you have to aim light years ahead to hit a DD with those shells.
Black is the only DD where I never "aim" or "predict" torps, I only ever use them to zone.

Ragner is probably a very good counter...this ship does not pen 25mm right?

Ragnar has 25mm sides, but large parts of the ship have standard DD armor. It will fair better than most destroyers, but there's a good chance it still loses

If it pair with gun boat DD she became the spotter so I guess, until ranked have hybrid BB and CV with submarine, yeah toss the shima to the garage collecting krill
Torp boats have been on life support for a long time. Everyone has hydro and and BBs have been getting better and better ruddershift. Torps are useless against everyone except potatoes.

Not necessarily, Gdansk is clumsy like harugumo and Ragnar so it is feasible that with RPF and some luck you could torp it. It's definitely another gunboat to watch out for but I don't really see it being more detrimental than smaland or Ragnar already are.

@@KingCobraStuntsSherman can beat it in a straight gun fight. Gdansk's firing angles are wide enough that Sherman's SAP can pen the ship if you use all its guns. But if the Sherman smokes, the Gdansk will beat it pretty easily due to its radar
@@KingCobraStunts not yet, either way gdansk is a dd hunter and it will eat sherman for lunch if playing well.
Should destroy smaland if played well at 9km range, Ragnar would probably trade very well Vs Gdansk though as you can't penetrate Ragnar's side armour, it gets a heal and much better firing angles, 360° turrets and the shell velocity to trade well at long ranges.

Good I didn't trade my Friesland against a Groningen and kept my commander spected for a gunboat while grinding another commander for the torpedo line
Not sure about NA but in every other ranked match in EU there is a Smaland so yes Gdansk is fair.

As strong as Gdansk looks, i think i will stick to my Daring as well. Gdansk is very squishi and i am not a fan of that terrible concealment and the ranged HE spam this ship forces on you. Aggressive cruisers with low concealment are a menace as well for Gdansk. Certainly among the strong picks, but no new meta defining ship. Unlike some other ships they added the older rivals still hold the ground to her.
Now that the game "continues" a bit after you win/lose they could re-introduce the [ *I'll be back* ] achievement if you die after a win
or killing after losing...

@@eflbrth He would have been fine to start shooting much earlier than he did, could have saved PQ some of his HP with little risk. PQ was the bigger threat and he had HP missing so there was very minimal chance anyone would target the Somers over PQ.

I'm a DD main and pretty aggressive but smart in ranked. I love nothing more than forcing the engagement on my terms against other DD's and I have been wrecking Gdańsk's all day so far in my Vampire. Though I think when I get a Gdańsk I'll be lethal with it, In good hands it will probably become the new go to DD for ranked but in bad hands it'll be an easy kill for a skilled player.

Weirdly, Elbing would actually be a decent counter to the Gdansk. Armor that Gdansk can't pen, arcs that outperform at Gdansk's preferred range...
PQ is great but the analysis is over the years is...lacking. He never points out how the first battle the DD fights were 2v1. Halland is a potato choosing to sustain a death fight with a much stronger gunboat at range. Vampire is bow-in against 2 DDs while being spotted first. These are significant advantages in DD fights which PQ never points out. Silver ranked is not the best proving ground.
2nd game: Take notice how the Druid duels are much more even than the first game. The Druid gives you full sides and angles instead of bow-in (not the best opponent).

Good range on the radar but very short duration -> good shell speeds but very low pen and no AP -> good range on the guns but abysmal turning rate for a gunboat -> good speed on the torps but very poor alpha -> very nice top speed but no heal or french saturation or UK build-in acceleration mod. I can't see what's all the hype about... Sure SMALAND was OP but even a DARING can outplay this hunk of SCI-FI crap. I bet that an Italian DD, full sending, will outduel it.

Great more strong gunboat dds that can just machine gun you to death. Looks fun but running into all of this stuff as a bb player is very very annoying, especially when the game likes to pit you vs 4 dds.
Try playing a DD with subs outspotting you and all these radar cruisers with high dpm while your team tells you to cap a point
@@iamhuffman Very relatable, had a BB player in the back of spawn telling me to cap a point with literally half the enemy team in it. Had to pass on that opportunity lol
@@iamhuffman Oh I don't disagree lol. So many goofy problems they keep adding. I don't like the way subs are implemented either. DDs should be their direct counter yet they made subs so fast underwater I've seen tons of dds struggle to even catch them, also outspotting like you said is very silly and negates their supposed downside

Well got the Split today because i had the tier 7 already grinded. This evening i will get the Gdansk. Big Boosters for the win. Where is the Problem?
I got lucky and the T9 was in the first bundle available to me. I decided to pay the 250 dubs that I already had to get the bundle and therefore shorten my grind. I assume this is also the case for many others who already have the T10. If I do decide to grind the line I can just reset it and get research points.

Its not a Premium and its far from bad, very far.
