A Viewer shows a better method than my usual FASTTEC to diagnose no crank no start conditions!! How will it perform compared to my current method in a side-by side??
I thought for sure it was going to be a spider issue. I am an ASE master technician with car and light truck diesel certification and I have over forty years of experience. Regardless of how long I have been doing this and what I have seen, I always use a method similar to yours. You call it fast tech, which is brilliant I must say, I wasn't ambitious enough to name my method. The best I did was call it the process of elimination. I approach every job the same way, with a child's mind. What do I have and what do I not have? Experience does make some aspects of that process easier, answering the question does the engine have compression for example. I, as well as you, can listen to an engine being cranked and tell if it has compression. I love the starting fluid test as well because that answers a lot of questions. I doesn't tell me what the problem is exactly, but I know what it is not, which is a whole ass-load of things eliminated with one simple test. Then as you demonstrated you determine if it is a control or delivery issue. My whole career I've had countless people tell me how to do my job, but it leads me to ask the question, why did you bring it to me instead of fixing it yourself? To which they always have some lame answer, usually preceded by a period of awkward silence, eye twitching reminiscent of a seizure, and sagging of the musculus orbicularis oris. Not only am I a mechanic, I am also an RN with thirty years experience and I have come to the conclusion that the vast majority of the general population are retarded but they have a false sense of intellectual superiority. They are too stupid to know that they are stupid. It is the nonverbal clues that tell the real story. The fact that shit nobody else can fix ends up in your shop and mine. What I find most amusing is, what we do is not that hard. Use the scientific method and the process of elimination. Find out what it is not and logic will dictate what is the problem. With any mystery, if you eliminate all obvious conclusions, the illogical, however improbable, must invariably be true. I must compliment you on the caliber of your sarcasm. I pride myself on my rapier wit, which I have developed over many years of being exposed to the general public, but you sir have a God-like prowess of which I am in awe. I developed my cynicism and sarcastic response mechanism for protection from the vast throngs of low functioning Neanderthals who roam the planet. George Carlin said it best. Think about how dumb the average person is, and half the population is dumber than that. Great video, and thank you for the laughs.
We sound very similar!!! Even down to the medical/science background. by the way the procedure is “FASTTEC” - Fuel, Air, Spark, Timing (mechanical), Timing (ignition), Exhaust, Compression
I have it figured at 67% of the population has an IQ 98 (That's the average) or below. Most of the people I know are 120 and way above. It makes you wonder how many are way below the average.

@@SchrodingersBox I hope they do. Love those videos. Have you and the dude that can't reach the doorknob got in a fight yet? If you do record it. I could always use a good laugh
Man, your humour is just so wholesome. Combined with your knowledge and passion (you can just feel the enthusiasm that you have) the result is one of the best channels on youtube regarding car diagnostics. Keep it up and much love from a fellow scientist!
A know it all can ruin the educational experience for everyone. I am not a technician by trade but I treasure everything I learned from my Vocational Instructors in High School in 87. I’ve kept up with technology as it’s effected what I drive and occasionally build but some of the things I have to bring to PROFESSIONAL’S such as yourself. The thing that people seems to forget is that it doesn’t matter that it takes you 25 minutes to do a 2 hour job, they’re paying you for the YEARS it’s taken for you to learn how to do it in 25 minutes. Any time I can learn anything from someone I listen to them because I might not need it today or next month but I’ll know when the time comes. Thanks.
Matt, geez, I must agree with you, some people have some crazy diagnostic strategies. I always like to check the tyre pressures and blinker fluid as my first priority when trying to diagnose a crank no start. At the very least, I've always found it to be a super reliable way to rule out what is definitely NOT the problem👈👍🤣🤣
Sorry brother been away, but GROUNDS are sooo important because without them your Not GROUNDED! Love this basic review from such an experienced viewer. Trolls love watching you brother.
There are alot of lunatics floating around many keyboard hotshots that never really worked on mechanical issues much less have to troubleshoot anything I come across it all the time your methods are logical and effective.
That was good, i am an ase master tech, with the L1, and L3. I watch your videos everynight because i learn something from you everytime. That comment was hilarious obviously doesnt really work in the field. Thanks for your videos and the paid channel is amazing as well.
ALWAYS check the Dilithium crystals FIRST, then the Flux capacitor NEXT, then the multiplex demodulator. If no faults found, turn your tuke inside-out, pour a Zima, and channel your inner Miagi.
This is my new favorite diag video 😂 I wish some of the other folks would call out the ridiculous comments in their videos, I think Eric O is the only other one who consistently mentions and shoots down the ridiculous comments in his videos, so much in fact that he can predict them as he's shooting new videos lol
I'll have to watch some of his and see that. I'm glad to hear he does it. Last one I saw he was yelling at people who unsubbed because the phone rang hahaha
@@SchrodingersBox yeah he brings it up in a bunch of his videos, if you watch a few videos you hear at least 1 or 2. Always makes comments like "now I know right about now some dingbats in the comments are gonna say 'Yada yada blah blah'..." or "there's always some yoyo in the comments section saying 'ABC and D'..." It's nice to hear people calling out the obvious delusion of some of the folks in the comments lol
Love it Matt! 😂 I’m surprised he didn’t suggest kicking the tyres to complete the diagnosis because he clearly has no idea how to diagnose 🫣😂 Loving the lift! 👍
Your system is very well thought out, ( I loved the screaming of GROUNDS!!!) I started as an EMT in 1987 and a professional mechanic in 1989 transferring to heavy trucks class 8 in 1994 and never looked back. Don't pay the peanut gallery any mind, keep doing you. Your videos help an old fat diesel mechanic who hates working on cars. Stay safe and God bless
Guys, I would have definitely gone straight for the fuel pump first! My method is from some guy on CZcams named Matt who told me about a super effective method called FASTTEC. You see, in his method the first letter is F which stands for fuel and it all starts at the fuel pump. Checking one fuel pump vs.178 GROUNDS!!! sounds to me like the customer will get their car back a whole lot faster haha. But in all seriousness, your universal scientific approach by far the most efficient and effective way to diagnose any car and much appreciated by many!
I was a mechanic for 45 years, 27 of those self employed. If my crystal ball was malfunctioning I would use the Vulcan Mind Meld to zero in on the problem. I never could find a reputable crystal ball repair. Boy-oh-boy! The diagnostic stories I could tell you.
Nothing wrong with the way you diagnosed this problem. One thing you could have quickly checked while scanning, was for rpm signal. Would be a quick way to rule out the crank sensor
You must have fixed the GROUNDS by hitting the tank😂 I needed a laugh, great video…safety tip that you followed anyway, if I’m concerned about a no fuel or spark scenario, and want to check for spark in the atmosphere, I try to check fuel 1st, just so I don’t have fuel around. The best diagnostic process is the one that proves your fault. Some people need to realize that the best “general” diagnostic process is the one that leads to the accurate diagnosis. Pattern failures are a nice cheat to check 1st, but no one knows them all. Keep it up!
Truly enjoyed this video. Timely, as I assisted my sister and brother-in-law last week on an intermittent no start issue with a 4.0l Ford Explorer. They were frustrated as shops couldn't replicate the problem, started throwing parts at it, attributed to a vacuum leak, etc. Engine would simply die while being driven, and would often not restart, an obviously inconvenient (and dangerous) situation. A quick code scan indicated a lean condition on both banks and (with an inexpensive OBDBII bluetooth code reader and a free application on my phone) , LTFT's were very high (+30%) on both banks, properly reading oxygen sensors, a very high calculated engine load value at idle, and a high throttle position value...all indicating a fuel delivery issue. Confirmed using a fuel pressure gauge (loaner available from an autoparts store) that the fuel pressure was less than half of what it should be for this vehicle (external fuel filter had already been changed by a shop). Diagnostic complete (replace fuel pump / pressure regulator / check valve / fuel level sensor with one OEM unit); we did not have the time or parts to fix during the holiday. Sister was very frustrated that none of the shops could diagnose the cause for the problem (reminded her that fault codes indicate issues with circuits and symptoms, but cannot tell you the cause). Guess I could have checked the GROUNDS. I learned simple diagnostics on lawnmower engines: fuel, air, spark, compression (timing was not an issue). Check those first.
You did it perfectly!!! nice work!! The only thing is remember a dirty MAF will give identical data so had you found fuel pressure to be normal, that would be your next check. but whether you do fuel pressure first or MAF first is a correct call either way- depends on which is easier. if there was a schrader valve on the rail I would have done fuel first too.
@@SchrodingersBox just curious…how would a dirty MAF result in LTFT’s being high AND a lean condition? Wouldn’t the ECU be adding fuel as a result of low measured air flow, resulting in too much fuel (rich) relative to actual air flow? With low fuel pressure, the ECU could compensate by increasing injector dwell time when operating in closed loop, but would result in a lean condition anytime the ECU defaults to the base map (open loop control).
exactly. it’s because the ECU would have to add fuel and that makes it a response to a lean CONDITION. the unmetered air entering means the engine is lean. the ECU adds fuel to compensate for that condition. same with low fuel pressure. there is a lean CONDITION. ECU compensates by adding fuel. in either case it is done by pulsewidth increase. high fuel trims mean there is a lean condition being corrected with addition of fuel.
For me the first step (which you covered) is to question the customer thoroughly in order to get a good understanding, and history of what is going on. Not critical in this particular diag., but very important as a first step. Sometimes even a call back to get more history and information. This should be step one in any diagnosis. Try to get a clear understanding of the customer's complaint. In this case the history of the problems the customer experienced might lead one to suspect a fuel pump issue. I think your methods are solid and look forward to more videos. Entertaining video to be sure. Thx
Hahaha can you imagine!! I mean just think- you get paid for a 1hr diag every single time and only do it in like 11 hours!! well, maybe less if one of the GROUNDS you test first happens to be bad!!
I'm watching this video as you go and commenting as as needed whenever I see I have actually ran into this exact problem one time ago I had a 1998 2500 HD two-wheel drive 5 speed manual with the 7.4 l Vortec 454 and turned out it was my battery the battery wasn't dead the terminal itself was bad the lead terminal itself
That would cause a no-crank. if you have a bad terminal it cannot supply amperage to a starter motor and if it can, then it can easily, easily supply it for a ignition primary at 1/30 the draw.
Thanks for sharing your rant. Always entertaining and useful. I appreciate your videos and have used your method many times to help the neighbors and friends.
I would have gone right for the fuel pump instead of spark, because you did the procedure wrong. Its FASTTEC . Fuel checks first lol. I kid I kid. Ignore the haters. Everyone is a professional mechanic until they have to get off the Lazy-boy, and crawl out of their moms basement. Matt, you my friend are the epitome of the G.O.A.T. One of the greatest diagnosticians ever. Thank you for your great videos and passive aggressive humor. It fills my heart with laughter.
MATT, that was AWSOME brother love the video and been using ur method for long time never ever I failed to diagnose the car with crank no start so you will ROCK in my book always and much respect and admiration to you thankyou.
Yes, I've come across this guy's method before - in fact, it's quite commonly deployed in the auto community. It's used as an approach to evaluating CZcams videos and it involves five simple steps: LOCATE, ASSESS, WATCH and NOTE; then sit back and relax. It's called the LAWN chair method. And don't forget to check all your GROUNDS, people! 🤣😂
Anyone that talks a big game on crank no starts is the first to go back to the writer for more diag time. While certain years and models can have some commonality, but it really only helps if you’re at a dealership. Indy shops don’t see that level of repetition.
I woulda checked the glove box light first 2nd. Check the spare tire for air. third I woulda changed the air filter …and that’s my list I go through hope u like lol love ur vids
I am a huge fan of sarcasm. The question that comes to my mind is if these professionals such clairvoyant knowledge by looking at your videos: why were they looking in the beginning there must be something that they didn't know or needed to learn. With such extraordinary knowledge, they should have been a parting their knowledge not looking at your vids which teach clear logic. So much for the so-called professional mechanics.
ROTF!!!!! Yeah honestly I really believe he is the brood nest for parts changing mentality. When a beginner does things exactly the same way as a 45yr veteran, yeah it makes them feel qualified.
Very entertaining video. In my 50 plus years as an auto tech, here's what I would do. Start by spraying the flammable into the intake. This checks spark, and fuel delivery at once and in just a minute or two. If it starts you know about valve timing and compression too. Then power at relay and if so, beat on the tank. 5 minute diag.
Yep exactly. Truth be told that’s how I do it too 95% of the time. The only reason I don’t start with that when I do videos is because the spark jump makes for really good video for the viewers lol. But if no one needs to be entertained, I go right for the airbox. As you said you rule out every other part of FASTEC all at one time if it starts so it’s maximum efficiency.
The new troubleshooting method certainly explains why dealerships are so expensive. You need separate techs to check POWER and GROUNDS on each car coming in for service.
1: Remove the rear seat 2: Pull back the carpet 3: Remove the fuel pump/sending unit floor service hole cover (screws) 4: Disconnect the fuel pump electrical connectors and the fuel lines from the top of the fuel pump unit I am giving you a quick way to access the pump bud. You diagd this much quicker than myself. I'm an all out-diesel guy myself. good job on the video.
Yes I know some cars have access under the seat (most Toyotas do) however is it Not faster to just release that one single bolt for the fuel tank strap and lower it with a Jack with a platform saddle?
Oh hahaha yeah I always check the gauge and assume people do that, but also knowing this is intermittent issue we know there is more to it. but totally agree- can be easy oversight.
As per Schrodingers cat in the box: It is obviously both no spark and no fuel, until the measurement is applied, which will then collapse it's superposition.
Somebody had to say it and you did an excellent job of showing it. Thanks for calling out those who deserve it and seem to ALWAYS know the answer, yet they don't share their "brilliance" on camera???...🤔...Great video Matt!
Really appreciate for the inspire video! I'd like to but I couldn't tell better than other guys about your ability to explain 'coach experts' how far they are from the reality. You made my day! Thank you!!!
Love you videos/ been watching and a member for quite a while but I never really could get your personality figured out UNTIL NOW! This is great. From the time you said GROUNDS until the end I kept laughing. Great video showing how ignorant people sound when the only advice they can give is from something they’ve “seen a thousand times” and they don’t actually have the knowledge or skills to correctly diag something with no help and no experience with identical symptoms.
The only reason to go to directly to a component without any deduction is on experience AND it doesn't cost you more time then a couple of minutes. By example, I am mechanic on trains. When 2 lights by the door are out I know by experience it's most likely 1 bulb, because of the serie connection between them. It takes 1 minute and is 95 percent of the times the solution. If it isn't a bulb, out come the schematics and tools.
I suggest people who face the same problem that their fuel pump works after banging on the fuel tank then before changing the pump try adding additives to your car. There are lot of additives which clean the fuel system. they do not claim to clean the fuel pump but fuel pump gets cleaned most of the times. It will cost you may be 20 dollars, if that does not work then go ahead and replace the pump.
Abduction takes over after a period of time of using other types of reasoning and is much faster. It's why I call my mechanic who is an expert on Volkswagens when I have an issue and he is right 99% of the time without even having to look at the car. Granted, abduction is based in years of slower methodical reasoning. But, you're right, for didactic reasons, you need a procedure.
Stop listening to those you who they don't know what they're talking about it takes a certain amount of diagnostics to figure out what the problem is and to do it correctly if it takes you 5 minutes if it takes you an hour or if it takes you 10 hours it doesn't matter it's a matter of finding the problem and if they think they can do it faster will let him have it that's the way I look at it but stop listening to them your doing a great job you're teaching kids and that don't know anything about automotive industries that need to learn it you're teaching them something so stop worrying about it just keep doing what you do
the only time i go directly to hitting the bottom of the fuel tank is if the car is broke on side of road and customer calls and ask is there anything they can try to get to the shop without paying for a tow i tell them to have someone bang on fuel tank if it starts right up, they can possibly drive to shop to save the tow. lots of time it will start, and they drive to shop but i still when it gets there have to check wiring because the banging could have simply jarred a wire and made it start. i really enjoyed this video you did good and again don't let the Monday morning quarter backs get to you. sure after you find the problem it's easy to say why didn't you check that first. ITS LIKE LOOKING FOR A LOST TOOL IT IS ALWAYS THE LAST PLACE YOU LOOK WHY DIDN'T YOU LOOK THERE FIRST?
Hahaha so true Howard and as always thanks for the scope!! I used it just a couple months ago to look at a knock sensor on another viewer’s truck in fact!!
Bro, DO NOT FOR A SECOND Worry about what someone else would of done .... We all would get things done faster AFTER we know what the problem is for starters, 2nd) remind those ass holes that this is a learning channel. 3rd) you are truly an incredibly smart and amazing human being, stay true to yourself. I love the content that you put out
C'mon Matt just get the parts cannon out and when it doesn't fix it, well it need it anyway!! 🤣🤣🤣 One of you favorite lines you've used ever! Great stuff
Hahaha wish it was just my line!! I hear it in every comment from people when I ask them why they changed something that didn't fix it. "Well it needed it anyway".
you must have a lot of Monday morning Quarterbacks they always know how to win the game everyone does things differently. what most don't know you could fix these cars so much faster if you weren't doing video. i do some things differently but most of the time it is just the order of events. i usually check for fire if fire is good then i spray something in the tbody to see if it starts then i know fuel is the problem thats just my way doesn't mean its the best. you are helping lots of people they need to understand some know more than others i have been a mechanic most of my life thought i knew a lot but i have learned a lot from you. experience many times changes the way we do things you teach totally different way to diag than trying to fix as fast as possible to make a living don't worry about those quarter backs
I am not one of your haters, you have to crank the engine every time to listen to the cranking cadence to listen for a possible compression or mechanical problem, this first key on is when you listen for the fuel pump prime so that #1 step is done in combo to view idiot lights with the MIL. As you have mentioned, there is not always a fuel pump prime, it is up to you, the tech, to keep records on non-priming vehicles, at least the fuel pump prime is literally the first step to eliminate before actually turning the key to START to catch the NO CRANK or CRANK NO START, or WOW that cranks like shit, or that cranks like no compression on ONE or MORE cylinders. Thank you for proving your method is SOUND, sorry, I meant GROUNDED. An AMP RAMP on the running fuel pump would have been my final call, a dead commutator to show the customer is golden, cheers. A direct method so you can update your method, key on, MIL on, no prime, your notes tell you this is a priming vehicle, spray starter fluid in intake, the engine has good cranking cadence and starts and dies, spark verified, major diag DONE. Beat on the tank, the vehicle starts, and no misfire or running rough, compression verified, AMP RAMP fuel pump to visually verify bad component, less than 5 minutes. ALL areas tested in the case of no fuel, crank, no start. In this scenario, no need to check spark, compression, timing, OR IMMO, so fuel is the first place to go when you don't know where to go.
Love ya man! Just stumbled across your video. People always think they are smarter and some are. Most don’t post videos to the world where everyone else can say how this video was all wrong! Why are they not doing videos? Scared of people praising their methods? Probably scared to fail! If you don’t upload a video, it can’t fail. Challenge them to a live stream and they can tell you what is each step! (Lol) Maybe not! Back to you being wrong. If you are wrong and your method sucks and you fix them anyway, keep being wrong! So far being wrong is working well for you. Don’t change anything. Stick to the fast tech method! (And no, I didn’t know it was the fuel pump before you knew!)
I've been watching you talk on this video for 2 minutes and 45 seconds and every single word you have said is 100% truth people always say stuff like that but you know what they'll never say it before you fix the car they always say it after you fix the car because they don't know
Methodical process is always better. I’ve got a common rail injector driver cuircuit performance issue bank b on my TDV8 Range Rover. Crank. No start. Having to go right back to tracing each wire with voltage drops
Excessive voltage drop was an issue on older injector control modules on some 20yo diesel. Fords? Below voltage X they wouldn't fire the injectors. As you stated, the suggested diagnostic process by the commenter wasn't wildly valuable. Full system scan is a decent idea depending on symptom. Diagnosing based on data is preferable.
I would have banged on the fuel pump first... Now I will explain how I knew that. 1. Watch the video 2. Listen and watch for the problem that you found. 3. Go in comments and tell you I would have done that first. I don't why it took you so long I usually have all these issue done in the exact amount of time as your video...after editing too! Haha don't pay the trolls any attention Matt I've learned a ton from what you do!
Hahahaha I have to admit you actually are the first to precisely answer the question and show a honest reproducible method that actually works!!! Well done hahahaha!!!!
The Fastec method is the best thing I learned from you Matt. It is so easy to remember and practically takes into account everything related to engine operation, even if it is not in my native language, I still remember individual elements :). I only have a question for you, because I see in the comments that you use the term FasTTec and not Fastec. Can you explain the distinction between Timing(mechanical) and Timing(ignition)? Until now I thought that T simply stood for Timing.
Yes great question and thanks for the comment. I also think FASTTEC is one of my favorite techniques because it also removes “panic” when you have a misfire or especially a no-start and a million things overwhelm you. But then you just think “FASTTEC” and immediately it calms you down. The two timings in my version are, as you stated, mechanical and ignition. Mechanical timing is the actual mechanical timing- the relationship between the cam and crank. A jumped timing tooth, any misalignment of the cam and crank, VVT solenoid or phaser issues, etc… anything mechanical is a consideration. Ignition timing can arguably be related but this refers specifically to the PCM command for ignition to occur (fire the spark). This is specifically crank sensor, cam sensor, or any PCM issues or inputs to that may cause early or late ignition timing- not necessarily mechanical. It may be argued that mechanical issues cause ignition timing issues- a retarded crankshaft for example will signal the ignition late. But a bad exhaust VVT solenoid is strictly a mechanical timing issue- it has no impact on ignition. Conversely- say an improper air gap on a crank sensor- a crank sensor that isn’t reading correctly or consistently- that’s not a mechanical issue- that’s an ignition signaling issue.

Hahahaha its never the problem until it is lol

Thanks for the compliment!!
The best way is to change parts until its starts. Its that easy 💪💪
Keep it up!
Thanks and good to see you again!!
just what I thought also…by hitting the tank, you temporarily fixed a problem with the power or GROUNDS!😂 Loved your video, and I love your channel!
Thanks for watching!!
@@SchrodingersBox there was no Schrader valve, despite the insistence from other online resources.
@@SchrodingersBox perfect. Great explanation.
I figured it out one second before you, lol ,all kidding aside I absorb your knowledge like a sponge and I'm 62 years old and love your sarcasm
Never too old to learn or laugh!!
Thx
Great video! Systematic approach will always beat anything to get to the problem. Being lucky is nice, but is not a sure fire diagnostic procedure.
I'm so glad, I learned the real way to diagnose, I can make money with this.
Hahaha can you imagine!! I mean just think- you get paid for a 1hr diag every single time and only do it in like 11 hours!! well, maybe less if one of the GROUNDS you test first happens to be bad!!
I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Bravo Matt! I will be sure focus more on GROUNDS in my next diag 🤣
Matt, your cracking me up !
"Check GROUNDS" !

Very true Andy!!!

@@SchrodingersBox Purge valve, vent valve and canister.🤣😎
Hahaha 😂 as for the GROUNDS
1: Remove the rear seat
2: Pull back the carpet
3: Remove the fuel pump/sending unit floor service hole cover (screws)
4: Disconnect the fuel pump electrical connectors and the fuel lines from the top of the fuel pump unit
I am giving you a quick way to access the pump bud.
One of the first things I always check for a crank no start is the gas level :)
Oh hahaha yeah I always check the gauge and assume people do that, but also knowing this is intermittent issue we know there is more to it. but totally agree- can be easy oversight.
Loose nut behind the wheel ... always the first thing to check for!
Hahaha I always fall for that one- makes me laugh every time!!
hahaha, I manage a small fleet of trucks, when a driver calls me needing help, I always start with the stupid questions first... :D

Thanks for posting!! and Thanks for being a member!
Your sarcasm is hilarious!!
AGreed 100%
Before scan I would do one thing . Quiet garage , key on and listen for fuel pump !
Stop listening to those you who they don't know what they're talking about it takes a certain amount of diagnostics to figure out what the problem is and to do it correctly if it takes you 5 minutes if it takes you an hour or if it takes you 10 hours it doesn't matter it's a matter of finding the problem and if they think they can do it faster will let him have it that's the way I look at it but stop listening to them your doing a great job you're teaching kids and that don't know anything about automotive industries that need to learn it you're teaching them something so stop worrying about it just keep doing what you do
But it is also important to teach people how NOT to do something and more important WHY it’s wrong.

You should make videos like this every week and share it in weekend 👍🍿
I will try!
this video is GROUNDS for laughing hysterically!
the only time i go directly to hitting the bottom of the fuel tank is if the car is broke on side of road and customer calls and ask is there anything they can try to get to the shop without paying for a tow i tell them to have someone bang on fuel tank if it starts right up, they can possibly drive to shop to save the tow. lots of time it will start, and they drive to shop but i still when it gets there have to check wiring because the banging could have simply jarred a wire and made it start. i really enjoyed this video you did good and again don't let the Monday morning quarter backs get to you. sure after you find the problem it's easy to say why didn't you check that first. Eish we need to check GROUNDs guys. From now on 😂
I am not one of your haters, you have to crank the engine every time to listen to the cranking cadence to listen for a possible compression or mechanical problem, this first key on is when you listen for the fuel pump prime so that #1 step is done in combo to view idiot lights with the MIL.
Totally agree.
Thanks man. Incidentally it’s “Fastec”- a mnemonic acronym for Fuel Air Spark Timing Exhaust Compression.

Hi Mike!!! Man you never return my calls!!

@@SchrodingersBox man so sorry!! I even screw up my own phone #!!!! Correct 1 resent!!! SORRY!!!!
1. Watch the video
No, no, no. What you do is throw a dice and replace parts with cheap non-OE aftermarket units (because cheaper is better) until problem isn't fixed.
I saw an actual set of joke “diagnostic dice” once- you roll them and it has all these parts to potentially change. brilliant!!
@@SchrodingersBox Thank you very much for such a comprehensive explanation. I understand it much better now. FasTTec forever :)
