Have you ever bough a used Switch? 🤔
I actually never have
No
Bought one 3 weeks ago. It works great apart from one joycon drifting 😢
I love you videos and thank you
I got used oled and it works better than my last one 🎉 it was also my third switch
I live by the penny, 70 bucks is a lot
It's like you get enough money for a game plus an accesory
But you pay for what you get probably has joy con drift scratches maybe a cracked screen
@@cappy699 just dont get something broken?? so many people act like used stuff means it has scratches, beaten with a brick, thrown on a wall, and the controllers were bitten by multipe people
@@pachurro2762 i mean its not that easy, theres a lot of scammers out there. also a lot of parents sell their kids switch when theyre bored of it.
@@Zoe-tj4ld ong tho, I've been seeing the switch lite blow up on offerup
I got my Switch Lite used from a local game store for $120 with the charger. As long as you look at the condition of the console, which I did before I bought it, I’d say it’s a good purchase
Exactly what I think, if you can see the condition of a object in person before buying, i could say it’s the best way to buy used
Things to take note of especially are
-Joycon drift
-If it can connect to the eshop
It's honestly a good idea to get the switch used especially since the switch is 6/7 years old, and hasn't had the price be lowered at all aside from sales
Switch lite is trash. When it drifts its useless
Found one for 65 cad but the guy got addicted to coke and shut down b4 I could buy lol
Bought mine for €60 came with breath of the wild and a charger (no dock). It’s been a year and it’s still going strong.
I bought it day 1 with Breath Of the Wild too and it was around 500$…
@@majora1675 Been playing totk on mine for the past month. Still going strong XD
No way did u buy it from eBay?
@@justifri Local 2nd hand tech shop
@@lhcplayz ive been grinding totk too. Got my switch second hand on ebay for £180 with 6 great games including botw, mario kart and odyssey
I bought mine used for 170$, because I needed an older model for custom firmware. No regrets.
Same lol
I bought a used one for 200 6-7 months ago and I legitimately couldn't tell that it had been used, they even packaged it back all nice in the original box for me. Just be careful who you buy from and inspect the item before you accept it. There's almost no reason to buy a new switch for 80-100 bucks more if you don't need to, unless you just have the extra cash to spare, or feel like you absolutely NEED to buy new
Same
Go used. Got my switch for 120 came with dock, extra set of joycons, carrying case, pro controller and fifa 23. The pro controller is the only thing that didn’t work 😂

@@Scotthulahoopcawthon that's a steal
I got mine pre-owned and it works amazing and doesn’t have any scratches. I basically always buy pre-owned
I got a used OLED switch from Mercari for $190. It even came with 2 games for free. The one thing it was missing was an HDMI cord but I have a few of those laying around anyways. The Switch looked like it was barely used and in perfect condition. Overall I had a really good experience with that app. I’ve even bought a few game bundles on there with no issues.
I got 2 broken oleds off of eBay and fixed one up, sold the other. Didn’t save a whole lot but it was fun to do
switch brand new in my country costs about 700 dollars plus the currency lost 50% of its value soo it's looks like 1400 dollars to me 💀
thank you Egypt
700 dollars 💀 Man you could get a car for that price where I live
@@Dunno683 which country
1400 dollars? Or Egyptian pound
dood dollars
@@mooodood9147 dollar... i live in egypt and it's true.... so i got used one for 250
I bought a used second switch specifically for a first gen to mod.
hey did you have any trouble modding? I just bought my first gen switch and don’t know how to download anything…

I bought a 2nd hand switch last week with 2 extra joycons and 3 games for 230. All was good untill the dock stopped working yesterday.
I bought a used switch for $170, luckily is almost new. NO scratch or deformations and included all, unless the box.
Not to mention you get to inhale that fresh new smell! 😤👃😌
Nothing better than inhaling biproduct factory fumes 🤤🤤
@@DARK_AMBIGUOUSnd don’t forget when you open a new pack of Pokémon cards straight out from the box😤

Nothing better then inhaling the fumes of hard working Vietnamese children 😄
Umm...
i only got used for 225$ because it was in perfect condition, had a pro controller, and a carrying case.
Edit: It's also hac-001 (moddable)
That’s a great deal
That's an amazing deal
That's an exquisite deal
And then 2 weeks later the joy con’s begin to drift and you’re out 60 bucks…
@@tolstartheking dont worry, i shoved in some gulikit joysticks like a week later
I would agree with this, I’ve had my switch since release and its still in perfect condition. Just buy a new one and take care of it, you’ll have it for a while
Don’t forget the joy con drift. A nice new one you won’t have to spend $70 for a new joy con.
As someone with a used switch, you never know if it may have smash bros pre-installed
I bought a Wii U for $100 (North America, with gamepad, working) and the seller didn’t even know it came with 3D World and Nintendo Land pre-installed
@@enhidri160 he probably actually did know that it was pre-installed, because that was probably part of the bundle box they sold back then
@@kerfufflenubs3785 it didn’t come with the box though. It was probably sole to them and then to me as a normal Wii u
I got a gen 1 switch for $150. Dock is little finicky but it was an amazing buy.
With my lite and OLED, I bought them second hand a month or so after the newest version released to try and get them pretty much new but at a discounted price. My lite had a tiny scuff on the back but was otherwise in perfect condition and my splatoon oled was immaculate and I got the box with it (without the inserts) for an unboxed price.
With my old regular switch though, I was desperate for one I could play on the tv so when I saw a green/pink joycon one in my local store about a year and a half ago I bought it immediately. Wasn’t in the best condition (slightly loose joycons and stand, game card flap doesn’t close properly, charging cable wobbled a good bit) - but up until recently it had no issues. Gave it to a friend as it’s still playable and got myself the splatoon OLED that I saw in the same store the next day when I got paid.
(Also regular switches over here are about £60-£80 cheaper if you get them second hand)
My verdict - do what you want but I’m a cheapskate so I try to save a little bit of cash as I’m a student who can’t save money for my life 😂
i bought a used on off mercari it came with all the accessories wires and an extra procontroler and a case for 170
My animal crossing switch came with a pro controller, some 3rd party joycon/pro controller mix thing, Mario kart 8, and a large carrying case, it was $220, yeah it was worth it
I bought an OLED switch for only $250 and it only has one scratch. I think it was a steal
I have a pre-owned switch from my brother for 156 bucks and it has close to no scratches and he had it for two years and came with everything and even a screen protector
If you’re going for a new one, then I recommend the OLED Switch, because it’s pretty good, and it fixed the issues. All you need is the switch online subscription to transfer the data, the DS card and you’re good to go. Or…
If you’re going for a used one, make sure it has a everything you need, in a good condition, and a good price.
Got my open box oled for 289 dollars!! Barely used it’s almost just like new came with the original box as well so happy
I bought my switch about 3 years from my friend for £100 basically brand new and gave him £20 for smash as well, best bargain I've ever got
I got a pretty good lightly used switch for less than $200, it was just missing the joy con connector. Never doubt your options, they could surprise you.
My friend got a switch used and she had joycon drift and there was a lot of issues with it
Send them in to nintendo for a free repair
Or get the gulikit hall effect sensor joycon replacements
theres tutorials to fix drift too, pretty sure u just need that like canned air stuff
Mine has drift too and was brand new lpp
I firmly believe the console itself should always be bought brand new whenever possible, the games can be bought pre-owned
I agree and disagree. Was gonna get an oled when I realized that all I really needed was the tablet since I already had 3 pairs of joy cons and a genki dock. Saved so much money doing so cause the tablet didn’t have any damage or scratches and was mint.
Haha, I bought a used Nintendo switch and let me tell you, be careful who you buy it from because the seller may be selling it because it is damaged. My Nintendo now doesn't work as it keep blinking green, time to go to the repair shop.
Yesterday I bought my first Switch used without a scratch on it for $150 on Craigslist it came with everything plus a carrying case and a pro controller
👍
You may call this strange but I NEED that experience of unpacking the box and doing a first time setup. It’s special.
True it makes me value the console more
I got my switch for 3 pounds 50 used its been working fine for 4 years
I got mines for $100 at a pawn shop. Went on Amazon and ordered a new screen ($35) a new back and front plate ($15). Did all the labor myself and its a brand new Switch.
Ps. I also decked it out with 512gb of memory, new joysticks and the pro controller as well. I don't even play my Xbox or my PC as much.....
I just wish it was that easy to repair mine. I even have missing screws and I might find a place to get it repaired within an hour.
A new Switch in south africa costed no less than 7000 ZAR in 2017, which is double a new one in the states (which would have been closer to 4000 ZAR at the time). So even 6 years later, getting a 2nd hand switch here, will be more expensive than a new one in the states
A used one that is really damaged is really good for technicians, not onky because its cheaper, but because it also works as a practice to fix that
For this past Christmas, my Dad bought my sister a used Nintendo Switch, and the thing is that it was only used like a few times! So it was still in great condition
I bought a used switch for £115 and it had no scratches, so just check the condition before you buy
Bought used OLED switch for 200 came with dock, 2 pro controllers, a carrying case that carries the entire console and pro controllers. Pre installed screen protector and the owner played it docked so the screen looked brand new. Sometimes you find a diamond in the rough. Also bought a switch lite for 60 bucks used with hard case cover, screen protector carrying case, and a few games. Patience and persitence and you can find some great deals
You forgot the most important part, the joycon drift and how the detaching was handled.
for modding, pre owned v1 switches are the go to option
Over some scratches I’d obviously buy a used one but I don’t even have the money for a used one anyway
I got a whole switch + accessories for 70$ 💀
It was basically new too
I'd go used for sure, I literally got my switch with its accessories for $100 last week and it came with its 2 joy cons for the switch, a pro controller, its dock and cables. Then I went out and got a used copy of mario kart 8 for 40 bucks from someone local
Yeah, you see, 70 bucks is a lot for someone like me.
My homie sold me his switch for $120. I got the switch, the doc, charger, hdmi cord, 3 games, a yoshi pro controller, 2 joycons and the switch case with the cartridge protectors. It was used obviously but pretty good steal imo lol
I got mine for 100. It works like normal, nothing wrong.
i bought an used switch with all the accesories, box included for only 210 dollars, great deal and its really clean and has no scratches
I used to think like this. I only wanted new unused stuff. But if you know what you are doing you can get pretty much a new Switch second hand for cheaper.
And it is also more sustainable. You don‘t always need new and shiny stuff. Used products already exist and don‘t consume extra resources.
Its also worth buying used if you find a v1 unpatched older switch, then you can jailbreak it and run emulators (or pirated games…🤫)
a lot people who are selling their switch barely used it and most of the time come in very good condition
I got mine for pretty cheap used, it’s been years but it still works like it’s new. Only get a new one if you can’t stand used things and really like new things. I saved myself a good amount of money by just going used and it came with Mario kart, a carrying case, a dock, a charger, and a set of Joycons that actually worked. It’s good to go used on something expensive like a switch imo.
Bro I got a full home console switch and super smash bros in good condition for 200$💀💀
The thing is, back when the switch first launched it cost around 400$. Back when it came out, a used one would definitely have been worth it. Now that the price has dropped its a little more likely you’ll be able to afford a new switch, however used ones are still a viable option, plus it’s way less than the OLED.
Got my Switch Lite for $115, rarely used and in good condition, a year later, still smooth and no issues, I guess it depends on the person selling it as long as it's reliable
Bro I got a brand new Switch on eBay for £230 in 2018 (Launch price: £280)
Saved money (as if I'd got it used) - yet it was new - and it worked no faults for 4 years
Just gotta sort by "Price: low→high", remove all listings that are auctions, and do a bit of searching :)
I have a switch that i got for christmass bacK at 2017. i still have it and its got potential, i recently went ahead and opened it up, gave it a nice clean from the best of my abilitues and replaced the thermal paste, its working really well now. and replaced the joycons with fake ones since im not buying the ones that are gonna die eventually. ALSO since its ine of the older switches i can soft mod it, all i would need is getting some replacement parts and replacing the casing since its VERY damaged.
I bought just the unit, £70 works perfectly, no scratches, didn’t need the joy cons or dock
Modded 3ds is my route
I had one, said it had slightly used.
Came in brand new, 0 scratches.
Saved myself 80 euros.
Then i sold it within a week with a game, got my money back and 120* euros profit
I could never. I need new with a warranty. Thank you 😂
I bought a used switch for only 100$ From someone my mother knew. It worked perfect and I got 4 free mario games, so I think it's 100% worth it👌
To be fair when I bought my own pre-owned switch it came with an extra remote control as well as a screen protector already pre-installed and without air bubbles for only $273
I have a used switch as my 1st switch and it's still working good as new
Bought a NSW Lite, complete with box, manual, charger then a Gulikit Powerbank as well, from a friend since he upgraded to OLED, got it for $120. I’d say pretty sweet deal since I have to shell some $$$ to buy my own games as well.
P.S. I have a PS5 & Xbox Series S also. So didn’t really bother in getting a Switch until this offer from my friend.
I bought a switch lite with Mario kart 8 for $120, sold the switch for $100 then got a switch OLED for $250. Perfect condition works great.
To be honest, if you’re willing to do some digging through eBay and such, and you’re at least semi competent with a screw driver (the switch is honestly easy to disassemble so long as you’re not doing any soldering), just buy a “broken” one. I got one with a bad game card reader and broken rails for cheap and paid like 40 bucks total in replacement parts. Certain parts on the switch are super simple to fix, and sometimes the person selling has no idea because they’ve never opened up a piece of technology once in their life. I saw a switch, including everything (dock, joycons, comfort grip, etc) go for 170 bucks just because the back cover was cracked (which is literally like 9 screws and takes 5 minutes to replace).
I want a mod-able switch next.
Also depends on whether or not you plan on modding your switch
Got an old one from my uncle, in really good conditions besides some minor stick drift.
I bought a used nintendo Switch for 128$ - it came with original box and everything ,the screen has no scratches and is like a brand new so it was a really good find
I got a new sealed switch for 200 bucks, It was from a guy who already had a switch but won another one in a raffle, which is why he sold it for $100 cheaper and Im pretty happy with it! however for $300 you can actually buy a Ps4, So Your better off buying that
Got my switch recently for $230 used. Had a few dings but nothing keeping me from enjoying the complete experience. Best part was that I got 3 physical and more digital games on top of it also coming with a screen protector, case, and grip for handheld mode. Even without all the extras, $70 is already a lot and could be used to get lots of games
I bought a used switch for 60 dollars. The fan is not working well so need an extra fan to keep it cool. And it has left joy on drift. But I just use the switch pro controller included in the packages.
I think it is a great way to enjoy Nintendo exclusive.
Now I am thinking if I will spend 20 dollars to get the switch clean and fixed. But I am satisfied of my switch right now.
bought a used switch lite and a week later the entire lcd screen part just fell off. they told me touch screen didn't work but didn't warn me about that 😅
i bought a used switch lite and the biggest issue is a little mark on the screen that doesn't bother me at all, I also noticed the battery ran out quite quick but maybe that's just me being on the switch non stop 😂
Got a used OLED for $210. Came with everything expect grip and straps. Had minimal use and little to no scratches. If you’re not willing to put the time and effort to look for one in good condition and at a great price buy a Nintendo refurbished switch or buy new at a authorized retailer.
Just better to get new switch as you don’t know what to expect from used. At least with brand new you also have a warranty and purchase date so Nintendo can repair anything under warranty
My only switch is used. It was less than 300$, and came with Pokémon shield and smash bros. Everything was in great condition. I say used, but that’s my opinion.
Sometimes you can get lucky with the pre-owned switch, some possibilities are
Getting extra accessories, and/or getting a few (or just one) free game!
I would also recommend a use switch if you want to game on a budget and don’t want to spend money on a new one
In Algeria the salary is about 150-200 usd in average for most people and the switch is about 600usd 💀
That makes an equivalent of 3000usd if it was the same economy in us as Algeria.
in Poland a new switch (not oled) is like 326 dollars and you can get a used one for even 125 dollars so I’d say its worth it, it all depends on where you live since every country’s pricing varies (also inflation rates in some countries are extremely high)
Yeah I don’t have to worry about buying, i borrow 😂
I bought used in ideal shape with 256gb sd card, ptotection glass, additional gamepad, game cartridge and it all was cheaper than new switch.
I got my Switch OLED used for around 260$, it was in perfect condition and also came with a glass screen protector, 64GB Micro SD card, and a carrying case while being much cheaper! It was really worth it for me.
Maybe we should begin with not getting a switch in general.
Me who bought a used switch:
I bought it used mainly because price and its more ecologic. Mine is working just great, if you have a chance to look at it physically before purchasing it, please look it. But i would say that as long as the seller seems trustworthy and the condition is good. I would say yes!
I got mine 150$ off for employee appreciation week at GameStop so far that has been the only good part about my job
I found a switch on ebay for $100 with shipping. Absolute steal. Planning in buying it soon
Here in Mexico you can buy a used switch (maybe without the dock) for like $150, but a new one goes for like 400
In Germany it costs around 300€ and when it came out like 3 months later I bought it second hand but un used for 175€ . Also you can save the world with buying second hand products
If you want to be able to mod it though you’re not getting that from a new switch. Not to mention that any problems that an old switch may have may be circumvented by going to official places to buy said switch so that they can check for issues on the system. Not saying it’s guaranteed to be perfect but it’s safer than just getting it anywhere.
Used I’d be a bit dubious over, especially considering age of some of the earlier models and the Switch’s reputation as a kid friendly console, but a refurb could well be a good idea if you don’t want to spend that kind of money, the differences between a new model and a high grade refurb are usually unnoticeable anyway
I ended up getting a switch by itself and a switch dock from two different sellers but it totaled to 130$
When the OLED came out my Friend bought himself and his mother one, and sold his mother's old Release switch to me for just 75 Euros. Mid 2023 then I bought a used Switch lite for 100 Euros from another friend, she wasn't satisfied with it and bought herself a whole set of a used but peak conditioned Animal Crossing New Horizon Bundle plus everything for just 150 Euros.
Now I use the release day switch at home on my TV, with help of an Adapter playing it with my Xbox Controller since my Joycons broke, and for on the go I use my Switch Lite - Life is great :)
It depends if you rarely play or are broke then buy used one
