- Probably the most difficult draft yet and a real test of our football knowledge! We are only allowed one player per decade 1900s-2020s!!! Who would make your XI and whose team do you prefer? Ben's or Gareth's?

CB: Beckenbauer (1970's)
CB: Franklin (1940s)
LB: Maldini (1990s)
RM: Messi (2010s)
CM: Andrade (1920s)
CM: Monti (1930s)
LM: Maradona (1980s)
ST: Pele (1960s)
ST: Di Stefano (1950s)
Very Cool video. Two suggestions, sound is very low and actually it might be useful to add a graphic of the choice with decade during the video not just at the end, help keep track.
My choices:
20s - Zamora GK
30s - Sindelar AM/ST
40s - Matthews LW
50s - Puskas ST/AM
60s - Best RW
70s - Beckenbauer CD
80s - Rijkaard DM
90s - Ronaldo ST
00s - Maldini LB
10s - Ramos CD
20s - TAA RB
I feel like they are superior because while there is no Pele, Messi, CR7, Maradona, Cruyff at least I have the OG DM. Rijkaard was as good a DM as Makelele but as amazing a midfielder as Zidane. And I have the best CD from both your teams. I think Gareth's team is more rounded, and of Ben's 6 MF/ST, 5 won't work back at all.

@@TFHBs Why is it insane? The hype around "Messi and Ronaldo" is ridiculous. Iniesta was the catalyst behind Barca and Spain's success in the 2010s (1 WC, 1 EC, UCLs) but will always be overlooked simply because he doesn't have a fanboy cult like those other two.
I'm presuming you didn't watch a huge amount of 2008-2012 peak Barça? Yes of course Iniesta was ridiculously good, and him as a trio with Xavi and Busquets was insane. BUT there was nothing like Messi for the impact he made in that spell. Those 91 goals in 2012 were just unbelievable.
Totally with you on both having annoying fan clubs, for sure, but to call Messi overrated is to simply scream you're too young to have watched him properly, or you simply didn't watch him properly.
@@gareththomas7967 I have watched Messi a lot and he is overrated, sorry. He often goes missing in big games. I was at Anfield that night and I didn't realise he was even playing until second half.
The hype around him is totally over the top. I've seen many better players in my lifetime- Maradona, Zidane, Cruyff, Zico, Platini, Brazilian Ronaldo, etc.
Scoring 91 goals in a year is a great achievement but it doesn't mean he is the greatest because of this. Haaland will no doubt score more in a year. Anyway, today it seems that quantity is more important than quality, which is totally wrong, in my opinion.
Without Iniesta's last second strike against Chelsea in 2009 CL semi-final, It would have been a Chelsea v Man U final. I'd much rather have Iniesta in my team than Messi, anyday. Seems some people have a hard time accepting that someone might prefer another player to Messi. Strange times.
