Fascinating video and huge fan of DeMar - especially his willingness to speak out about mental health. Did feel like much of what was noted by DeMar as far as a culture shock when going to university was more socioeconomic related as opposed to race related but perhaps the two are simply much intertwined in America.

How about creating a betting system for inner city athletes (like a lottery). That's right, let's bet [gamble] on some but not all (let the parents decide) athletic kids. Science and math are still important subjects but this part of athletics could be just as useful in a young career. It may give young athletes more drive than a math or English class plus it could raise money that will go to the school system. Teammates could also learn more about working together while learning their academic goals.

I think It is not about the race it is about The Who you are and how you raised. Black parents teach their kids that police are scary and don’t cooperate with them. And I think the marijuana and other drugs getting them in trouble too. Also shooting police makes them dangerous. It is much more dangerous in Oakland than Seattle. Why is that? I’m Mongolian. I’m in the US for ten years and it is just how it looks to me. I’m not racist and I hate Chinese people but I know very nice and cool Chinese people too. Every race have tall and short people.

Skyy Hawk I saw a video that black parents laughing and saying that to their child and make him cry. And why black people always resist and make police angry. They are just doing their job. Polices dealing with lots of different kind of people we should understand them sometimes they piss me of sometimes too when get ticket but don’t resist go to court if you have a problem. Police should be tough to everybody even to celebrities and rich people if they resist. In some other small countries polices are weak. Rich people or their kids beat them and they get away with it. That’s even sadder.

So here's another issue that's not brought up.... If black athetes start assimilating to "white universities" in terms of the vernacular and culture, how will that play out when they go home for holidats and summer vacation and etc? I understand the challenge of black people in America having to play two roles. But in the future, won't we all have to do that...? Just food for thought. It's not necessarily about higher and lower cultures. It's about both sides, so to speak, being maybe unwilling to meet halfway. And that's on both sides. Me, I'm ready and willing to go halfway and all the way. But some blacks and whites, aren't ready.
