- Hi everybody, today's video is all about bunnyhops!
I've seen there are lots of videos on CZcams about how to bunnyhop but I've yet to see one that tells you all the tips needed to get MASSIVE ones. I figured as they're one of my favourite tricks and I can go pretty high (125cm personal best, not seen many people in the world go higher than that) I would try and explain how to do it.
I've included the very basics as well as the techniques needed to get 120cm+ so hopefully there's something for everyone.
Please give the video a watch and let me know if it helps you, also if you want your own bunnyhop bar to practice on, click the link below to my previous video showing you how to build your own portable, light and cheap bar setup.

Greetings from the hospital!
lol
I was there 2 days ago😂
@Caleb Winkler it was a joke obviously, still i apreciate you said that
Those are the breaks..I've got a midface fracture... will I stop riding.. we'll see after the plate heals...I suspect that answer is no
@@erixccjc2143 he got me...I answered from hospital before I saw the funny side...I'm not joking
You definitely have a talent for teaching, please think about making more of tutorials because you're doing it right!
Nobody:
Every bunny hop video comment section: this is the best tutorial I’ve watched so far
Holy shit yes!
Guess you watch a lot of videos on how to bunny hop.
Well look no further sir, this video will be the one to finally get you to learn the proper technique.
Right 😂
lmao facts
Your name though!
Nice, MTB rider here, this was one of the clearest explanations of a bunnyhop I've seen, cheers
Isn’t it a trials bike?
I would say, instructions unclear. Now I drive on the Everest. 👀
From someone who cannot bunny hop, watching someone bunny hop is like magic. But watching someone pull off huge bunny hops like this is pure voodoo.
This was the best Bunny Hop tutorial I've watched😁
Ali Clarkson Are you riding in Glasgow today?
Was about to say the same thing! Gosh, I've never seen any video as good as this! Got me pumped up on improving my bunny hop!
Remember the ass positioning is key to height 🤣🤣
That explains a lot, I have done only English one. And front/ back independently.
Why do i see this comment on every bunny hop tutorial vid???
Cheers Ali - great vid - inspired me to get my bike out and give it a go. After an afternoon of sweat I can now confidently bunny hop my 54 yo bones over a 1" stick (you've got to start somewhere). Well done and thanks
Yeah I know how you feel. I'm 56 and can bunny hop ANY bike. Even my mongoose Brutus fat tire 26x4. Your never too old. 8)
You have given me alot of hope 45 tomoz, and just got given my onza bike, I used to ride bmx when I was a kid, but nobody warned me about alien it all feels, when u get a little older, a little older lol hahahahahaha
I’m right there with you guys old and a bit fat getting some bunny hops
You should do more how to's dude.
for real, your breakdown was perfect! And the multiple camera angles are great.
I totally get 'it' now. You want to be bunny hopping like an olympic high jumper, basically putting the bike into a fosbury flop
Yes....moar please. These r super useful for 41 year old fart (me) who thinks starting trials now is a good idea :)
Dave Davies Totally agree!
You're young, I'm 50 years, and just started. It's good to know that I'm not the only one little bit older here.
i agree! I have road bicycles and thought it might be a good idea for my commuting to be able to do a modest, beginner height bunny hop...I've tried and failed, but you explained it so well i may try again. Mostly fear of falling backwards stops me even though my light bicycle has tried to wheelie by itself when i put a lot of pressure on a fast start. :)
I can bunny hop but I can't get those big hops. So I've been watching videos. This is by far the most descriptive, detailed and totally explained video I've seen. With the slo mo and play by play. Well played sir. Well played!
When I was a kid, 70s, that was called a 'bronco'. A bunny hop was when both wheels left the ground simultaneously.
That makes sense actually, and it sounds cooler too!
yea i call these J hops
They are also called pro hops
I didnt even see the 70s and still i agree that a bunny hop is when both wheels leave the ground simultaneously
if you observed how bunnies hop you would come to conclusion that it is an appropriate term
So much positivity in these comments :) not only the best bunnyhop tutorial on CZcams but the best comment section as well
i never watched a bunny hop tutorial that actually explains everything! this is gonna help me a lot! thanks!
Reminding you to come back to this video once you become a world champion at DH racing
I watched too many how to bunnyhop video and nothing can make me understand and able to do it until i saw your explanation..! Thanks, man!
One of the best bunny hop tutorials on CZcams! Im gonna try to beat my personal record today! Thank you for the tips Ali, Cheers!!!
Ph
0:27 I'm sure a lot of you already can bunny hop pretty well
_uh.. ....UHHH um .._ *NO!*
definitely should do more tutorials man. it's easy to tell you know a lot about riding and you explain it very well 👍 can't wait for the next video
The way both wheels match their sticker positions perfectly at his last b-hop makes my brain happy
I went mtn biking today near Mt Hood. I used my suspension lots of times going over horizontal roots. I could have bunny hopped them and landed flat on the trail. I'll be sure to work on it.
A big tip of the helmet to the best bunny hop instructor I have watched -- thanks for a fantastic video and lesson!
Best descriptive bunny hop tutorial ive ever seen made
Thank you for doing this Ali. I've spent the best part of 20 years trying to get the knack of the humble BH. This should hopefully get it dialed in
Been watching since day 1 and you're getting so much more fluent and natural, great tutorial !
I have watched tons of these and you Sir are the greatest at showing the stages of operating so well. Thank you.
I've been waiting for your "how to do" series for so long, finally the videos have arrived! Thank you very much, cheers from Argentina Ali
Amazing tutorial. Great explanation without being long winded, good composition and humor. Love it.
Watching your vlogs for some time now, I already thought sometimes you would be an amazing, patient and giving teacher/trainer for techniques around trials. This video is more than just confirmation my feeling was right.
Keep it up!!! Really appreciate the time, effort and energy you put into your videos!
I've watched a few of your vids but this one specifically made me subscribe... cheers and happy riding!
That's tremendous Ali. Honestly, I've watched dozens of these videos, but getting things broken into practicable chunks is absolute genius.
It's great that you are showing mistakes too. It's an honest and thorough teaching experience. I've learned a lot and thanks to you my MTB rides became even more enjoyable. Thank you
Your video is spot on! This is the best Bunny Hop tutorial video I have ever seen. That part with the leg from 4:16 to 4:53 was what most of the other Bunny Hop videos lack. After watching your vide yesterday evening, I was finally able to lift my back wheel! I thank you for the video
The bit about the tuck and how you need to brace the bike in the air with pressure on the handlebar and the pedals (specifically the back foot) were extremely helpful.
An excellent tutorial - showing the skill in gradual steps and detailing common errors too. Good work!
you got a lot more tips than a lot of bmx channels good work
You guys are the only guys who explained how to lift off the back tire properly, watched like 100 other videos and this one really helped me do a bunny hop on a road bike... Can't wait to improve my skill... Cheers! 💕
I've been trying for 40 years Can't bunny hop to save my life. I liked your one foot basic technique... I'll give that a try next summer.
Such a brilliantly explained tutorial! Thanks for putting this together.
Best bunny hop video out here !
Well detailed and definately one that makes you feel like you already like you've mastered it by only watching.
Ali, your teaching style is awesome, definitely the best bunny hop how to I've seen to date. Thanks for actually breaking it down and explaining how & why vs simply what you're doing. More how to vids would be wicked 👍
This is very useful! I've currently got a 22.5" bunny hop on my enduro bike and I think tucking will really help me increase that. Thanks a ton, man!
This is absolutely the best explained bunnyhop howto video on the internet. I really hope to see more like these!
This is the most helpful how-to I've ever seen for bunny hops. Since getting back on the bike, I've been struggling to get my hops higher and this really gave me some different ways to think about it. Thanks much, my friend!
The best bunny hop tutorial in the entire world of youtube, with bonus tips to make your mtb bunny hop higher. This was an amazing video! I already liked, subscribed and notified.
Perfect tutorial. I now wait for the how to up to front. You make it look so easy.
This is by far the best "How to Bunnyhop" video I have found yet (and I have watched a lot of them...). Thank you for taking the time to break down the sequence with plenty of clear explanatory comments. I agree with Dave Davies - you should make more "how to" videos!
Great great video Ali!! I've been searching for trials tutorials all the time, but none of those impressed me much. Until I found yours!! You'll be a master of trials coaching! Please more tutorials, please!! :D
Thanks Ali there is definitely a need for better trials tutorials from experienced riders. More please.
I've seen few tutorials about bunny hoping, but not one explained as good as this one. Awesome work man.
Wow!!! I'm impressed! Thanks for the nice clear instructions, and great camera work.
This is one of the best tutorials on how to bunny hop. Good job.
This was awesome. I really liked how you broke down all the steps.
Finally an intuitive video on how to do a proper bunny hop. I have watched way too many videos on this skill and have always been disappointed. At this point I really suck at bunny hops and can do much better with the English version. I can't wait to practice these techniques which were so thoughtfully and thoroughly presented. Thanks Ali! And thanks for all of your vlogs which I watch religiously and enjoy completely.
You're an extraordinary athlete and excellent teacher.
Of all the bunny hop videos out there, this is definitely one of them; a mighty fine one, too.
Best and most conclusive BH tutorial I've ever seen. Thanks a million.
not at all. Thank you for that butt tucking trick. Helps a lot in height gains.
Best instructional bike video I've ever seen.
You should do a vid on the highest / longest English hop though, just for the fun of it ;)
The only bunny hop tutorial i actually understand 😁 amazing
Outstanding video! Best bike tutorial video I've seen. Very thorough! Keep it up!!
Yes I agree. Excellent explanations of each step.
Great surprise to get a wee bonus video! Thanks for the tips Ali.
Excellent tutorial with attention to details. Thanks for sharing.
Best tutorial! You keep it short and sweet and don't ramble on... thanks!
this is by far the most accurate tutorial to teach bunnyhops
wow. cool. your instructions are crystal clear and the vid is clear.
That was great! I never realized it was a "tuck" and not just turning sideways in the air. Great instructional vid Ali, hope to see more of those! Now I'm off to the shops to get materials for my bunnyhop bar!
I'm going to watch this a few times and try and smash some hearty hops on Monday ! Good video mate !
Well done Ali! You really have a talent for those kind of tutorial videos.
Clear, detailed, and great video dude. I shall get on it.
Such a cool Video. Soooooo Helpfull.
Very clever to use the camera like that.
Thank you guys , always fun to watch your channel.
nicely done tutorial. specially the multiple angles and slowmos. easy to pick up
im a beginner learning basic skills and watched a lot of videos trying to learn from them
by far this video stands out in terms of explaining by deconstructing every element down and showing how to do it
v good job mate
Cheers Ali! Can't beat getting tips from a pro for free. 🤘🏻🤘🏻👍🏻
This is the best bunnyhop tutorial I've watched!
Love how loud your cassette is
It's single speed bro.
What i like about this video is it doesn't just tell you what to do it tells you how to do it.
Yeah dude, You Rock. The detailed description was on point. I'm 56 years old and I still love doing bunny hops. I'm not looking forward to the day to come when I can no longer be able to do a bunny hop. I'm also a mad downhill longboarder at 56 (47 in my picture).
Im very happy I found this channel
Really appreciate the work you put into these videos :)
I've enjoyed all of your videos but this one is absolutely brilliant, thankyou.
That vid is awesome. I have a lot of work to do to learn to bunny hop, and I will probably watch your video over and over and over and.......
Ali makes great videos. Some of my favourite videos on CZcams
Really cool with a positive attitude
Best Hop tutorial I've seen, and best slow-mo's.
this video is the best tutorial i have ever seen thanks dude
GREAT Tutorial...I learned a lot especially the differences in hops and better technique. Thanks! Liked and subbed.
Best bunny hop vid on YT
This is brilliant! - I'm definitely trying this on rest periods for fun during my rides lol :) great tutorial buddy - specially the slow-mo american style hop explanation.
After 45 years of hopping stuff that's in my way, I can now say I understand what is happening and pretty sure I will be hopping a little higher from now on!
Best bunnyhop tutorial on CZcams 👌 by far... Keep it up Ali!!
Hello!!! almost in 2021, and this is the best video related to Bunnyhop.
Nice video it's nice to see the slow Mo on the tricks has not every one shows the tricks like you do which is slot more helpful thanks Keep up the good work all the best Suresh from the UK . Bless
This so far the best bunny hop how to video. And i seen a lot of them
Impressive! Both doing and explaining. Thanks.
Thanks for the great video- best bunny hop explanation I’ve seen yet!
I've watched so many bunny hop videos and this is the best one
I just figured out how to do a tiny bunnyhop on my friends bike yesterday.
If you practice you will get great ones
Very good lesson. I just started riding trials about two weeks ago. So I'm just learning to bunny hop (and unlearning SPD bunny hop) and other stunts. It's difficult, but I hope that next summer I've learned something.
I'd also like to see more of your lessons.
Thank you very much Ali, your explanation is crystal clear.. My age is 50+ but why not, I'try it as far as I can
So great - you are a master and great teacher.
Bro, best tutorial I've seen... you have a new subscriber! Please do more how to videos. I just started getting in to MTB and I want to do those stuff even though I'm old, lol
Excellent... appreciated the super slow motion to help learn the technique.
