    Hi Tim and Marissa! We've been watching you guys for about a nine months now and love how you tell a story. I have to say though that the addition of Tim's pictures has given a new dimension to your videos. They are fantastic and give different perspective to your story that can be lost sometimes in video. Chef's kiss on the pics!

    I always planned to ride a motorcycle to AK and visit my Uncle near Anchorage then ride the Dalton Highway to the North end. My Uncle was a Surveyor in the AK Pipeline. I see it in the background on your videos. He also surveyed for the Sewer lines in Point Barrow that are run over the Perma Frost.

      The pipeline had a certain charm to it as we traveled alongside it! You would love the ride up to Deadhorse!

    You ride the Dalton or the Dempster it’s what you got be ready for, or be prepared to find shelter and wait. It feels like riding on ice. I found challenge enough on my own. 2 up impressive. After a full day crossing the mountains in heavy rain the rest was easy. It was Arctic cold. Still an amazing ride.

    Hi guys! Wow, what an amazing ride this video showed us. Tim, this muddy road was a testimony to your mad props driving skills. Not once did you drop the bike in all that rainy mud. I'm very impressed with how you two made it down to Fairbanks. How long did it take you guys to clean off all your things, especially when you got to your one room cabin where there was no running water? Can't wait to hear about the "bathroom issues." Lol

    We had a similar experience on the Dalton this summer and we were running solo and not exactly over loaded. The first 10 miles almost scared my riding partner and I enough to turn around but neither of us was willing to be the one to say nope! So glad we didn't! I am also glad that you made it through, it is a heck of an experience. Yukon River Crossing is quite a place huh? I went left instead of right when we got to it on the way up and ended up at the visitor center. It definitely could use some better signage and a blade to work the driveway/parking lot a bit more often!

    • @2UpAndOverloaded
      @2UpAndOverloaded  Před rokem

      Marisa and I said the same thing! The signage for an area with only a couple of actual buildings could have been so much better!

    I don't know about riding double on long trips? I carry too much luggage myself let alone what women like to carry .. Riding Double cuts the gas bill in half compared to riding two Motorcycle's however. I sat on the 1190 before it's a Heavy beast .. with a very tall seat height .. Most KTM's require Premium .. I am guessing it's hard to find in very remote areas?

    • @2UpAndOverloaded
      @2UpAndOverloaded  Před rokem +1

      It’s a pretty heavy bike loaded up with a pillion! But we love it and are still able to crawl over mountain passes and through rivers!
      It does take premium gas, but I’ve been throwing regular in my 1190 for years!

    • @mikeskidmore6754
      @mikeskidmore6754 Před rokem

      @@2UpAndOverloaded I suppose you might get buy on 87 octane if you don't run it wide open. I have a Yamaha FZ-07 I have added half a tank of 93 on really hot days. If it's not extremely hot 87 Octane is fine. I am about to add a Dynojet Power Command V .. Then I will run two maps and a map switch .. one for 93 Octane and one for 87 Octane..
      I also have a 2008 Buell Ulysses.. air cooled with 10.5 to 1 compression calls for 91 Octane.. I mix 87 and 93 together when it's hot out and run 87 Octane when it's really cool out .
      They call the Buell an Adventure bike, but with a 17" front tire and 23.5 degree fork rake .. You have to really stay on your toes on a gravel road.
      You really need a 21" front wheel for the Dalton road I am guessing maybe 19" would be OK.
      Harleys like Million $$$ Bogan rides have 31 degree fork rake. Very stable on a Gravel road. I am 5'4" with a 27" crotch to floor measurement.. I rented a Triumph Tiger 1200 Extra Low.. The Low seat was great , but the kick stand was really short and it took a huge effort to rock it off the kickstand with minimal luggage..
      It makes all the difference in the World if you Pillion works with the bike or works against the bike .. I have had both kinds on both bikes and you can really notice a difference..

      Thank you so much! I always input the date the video was recorded into CZcams, but I'm not sure if the viewer can see that or not. Anyway, you can always ask! I think August is actually a good month because it can be rainy in any month honestly, and you have a small chance of seeing northern lights in August. Plus the bugs are supposedly slightly better (but again, they're always bad). But most people usually aim for July.

      It's crazy to say, but in all our travels on the motorcycle for the past five years across three continents, we have only run out of gas that one time in Alaska, very recently. You'd think all those years of travel would've made us wise, but no! We misjudged things a bit on the Dalton highway...
