- Mostly just compressed charcoal, charcoal powder and a little bit of black pan pastel. I used a kneaded eraser and blending stump as well.

Love you all - Jak na to + styl
Thanks mad charcool's wife for this video
I second that
Your content is heavily inspiring me to start drawing regularly again! I have barely drawn anything for the last 10+ years, but now that the kids are grownups living on their own I have much more free time to get back into my creative pocket. I reckon that charcoals is the right medium for me to start with.
Thank you!
Edit: this drawing is just up my alley, or path if you will. Great work 👏
I hope your artistic journey has been going strong!
Stunning...thank you Mrs Mad Charcoal for encouraging your husband to share this!
thanks for showing us how to create larger shapes and finer details without getting too specific
Outstanding, thank you for sharing! This is hauntingly beautiful!
Mad . . . madly in love with your charcoal landscape!
This Australian wilderness artist is begging you: More landscapes please.
I would especially appreciate watching you subject a few landscapes to your mad, fast gestural technique.
Your wife is amazing she knows how much we love your arts❤😊
excellent, I loved this, the finished product was awesome, really moody. A lot of atmosphere or ambience in that drawing that was very captivating to me. great stuff man. Thank you so much for this video.
Always first. 🖤
This was really helpful and inspiring, thank you! Yes please to more landscapes!
I will watch almost anyone make art in one way or another but this stuff is pretty amazing man. Love that you can do with 1 color using many shades. Absolutely beautiful work thanks for sharing with us all.
Like it alot!! Reminds me of the artistic photographs of Steichen and Stieglitz.
Beautiful!
First video I watched of yours. And have subscribed. Love the moody yet positive ambience👍
You are amazing... and so generous with your gift...Thank you from my heart!
Love the dark landscape! Please do more.
Really nice- I love doing landscapes, and sometimes draw plein air. Thanks!!
I love the result! your style is amazing. I should try drawing more charcoal landscapes. thanks for the video
Wow that's something different...beautiful!
dramatic atmosphere achieved so cleverly. inspiring
You are a fantastic teacher, and amazing artist! ❤❤
Love the landscapes, thanks
As usual I am absolutely inspired by your work. I'm just beginning to create using charcoal so your videos have been invaluable to me. You're very easy to listen to and you manage to provide tons of information while demonstrating your techniques. Don't know how you multi task like that but I'm sure glad that you can! I continue learning from your work so thank you for that. Hopefully you'll continue making the tutorials because they're truly the best that I've seen.
I'll be in the hospital for the next month. You've inspired me to start back drawing during my downtime. Thank you.
Definitely worth the watch. Your wife speaks truth.
Love your work man!!
I really like this piece. Awesome job! ❤
In watercolor a vignette has areas of white or light in the corners. I love landscapes! Thanks for your drawing.
Thank you for sharing your brilliance!.
It was very beautiful and spectacular.
I’ve been looking for something exactly like this video!
Played around with this one after finding your channel. Really appreciate the posts. Vastly improved my approach with charcoal. Thanks for work
I'm so jealous of your talent!
Only recently got into charcoal and I must say I find your vids so helpful great channel :) ❤
I totally agree with you about being too hot to do a plein air painting outside. I live in San Tan Valley, getting ridiculously hot.
Nice job as always.
Thank's Mad , great work. ❤❤
looooooove it !!!!
Amazing work as always 😊
Love ur work ♡
Just found your channel your very talented Ann 🇬🇧❤️❤️
Another amazing video
You say "it's not a face" and the whole reason i watched is because I like how it looked like a picture focused close on the brow-ridge of a person with a subtle landscape emerging from the shadows of a face. I love art.
Love it.
Great video!
Funny u mentioned Bob Ross. I was waiting to hear "maybe there's a happy little tree that lives hear". Excellent work 👌
Hermoso dibujo!
very good artistic skills and craft. I think this is a great talent!
Very nice!
This is so beautiful, enjoyed every minute of it. My morning meditation
Thank you for all your encouragement!
You did just draw my soul...
It has nice emotion
Excellent work
You'll get there. 👍
nice landscape. there's a lot of misty fog around Sacramento CA (elsewhere too) to take photo's of. the Big island also gets foggy sometimes.
Good fun. Thanks!
Muito bom trabalho!
Thank you, this is masterpiece. question, where can I find this kind of drawing? I want to know basic details
Would love to see a Native American (chief or warrior) drawn by you. I can already imagine how amazing you would make it. ❤
You inspire! Charcoal similar to oil...grissaile... The dead layer.
I really enjoyed this video. I particularly enjoy hearing an artists thought process as they work. (I do wish you had a slightly better microphone setup. It was often difficult for me to hear what you were saying. ) I’ve just started drawing in charcoal and I find your videos helpful, steering one away from mechanical rendering of a reference, and leaning towards a more abstract interpretation of your subject. I loved how you reinforce having your viewer enter in and interpret things themselves and how them causes one to enjoy the artwork more that way.
❤❤❤
after watching your portrait shorts for i dont know how long I had the idea to ask you for a landscape, went to your videos section and first thing I saw was a landscape lol
A walk with Ancestors ❤
I want to know what lays in wait around the corner . 😊
Would be interesting to see how you would interpret Dorian Gray in charcoal.
Thank you for this video, and I thank your wife also !
pelase do a video on carrier on art..
how to get clients, how to show the awrtworks, how to sell it offine, and also please cover lots of common questions...
14:00 Depends on how your brain works. Some of us can see every little detail, every piece of hair, every leaf on a tree, etc.
I still enjoy your art 😊
I do some backpacking and have been looking for a medium to work with while at camp that doesn’t require many tools to work with and is light weight to carry. Charcoal seems like it might fit that bill.
I follow ur videos just amazing
One small question.... What do u use for rubbing charcoal.. To get white shade????
Very lovely. If you were to put an element of color into this picture, where and what would it be?😊
Gracias
Nice
Hi, Very much enjoyed this charcoal landscape demo. I focus on faces and figures in charcoal, but would like to experiment with landscapes and cityscapes. Can you recommend any sources of simple photo references? Thank you.
Do you spray anything on the charcoal to preserved???
Great. What on earth happens to all the charcoal that falls on the floor and your feet? It must be all over your house.
Do you do custom pieces for people ? You mentioned your website at the end, but I don’t see a link to it? :)
Muito bom
💚
💪🤟🎨
Miss Charcoal thanks lol
do you spray these with fixative? How do you store them so they dont get damaged?
Do you seal the charcoal if so what with please ?
what brand of fixative do you use on your charcoal pieces? I loved watching this. I would like you to do one of these as a cityscape.
Not sure about him but I’ve used Krylon fixative but it has a very strong odor and works best to do it outside and then let it air out in a garage. I’ve also used regular hairspray and that works fine as well and not much odor
Very JMW Turner..! I’m new to your channel.. what paper do you use in particular or do you use what you have to hand? Cheers
I realize this is a stupid question but what is the tattoo on his arm of?
Hallo Mr.Mad Charcoal ich bewundere ihre Arbeit und finde das zeichnen mit Kohle und Graphit sehr spannend ..was mich aber interessiert ist was sie für Papier verwenden ..Grüße aus Deutschland

I think your work in charcoal is amazing, your interpretation of the scenery subject is astounding. I don't mean to mean this as a criticism, but, I think those light shapes that you added take away from your subject of the person. The light shapes seem so unnessessary,

thank your wife on behalf of us lol
sy jatuh cinta dengan lukisanmu. sayang sekali tanganku tidak bisa merealisasikannya. tolong buatkan lukisan seseorang sedang berdiri dipertigaan. karena seperti itulah saya sekarang. semoga kamu membacanya
I have been watching your videos time to time and thank you for sharing. But I do really hope viewers aware how hazardous charcoal powder is. I just heard the blowing sound when the charcoal powder drops off the paper. Imagine some innocent person ends up with lung cancer. I believe ethically we should inform people about the risks of using charcoal powder. Specially getting the face near the trails of charcoal powder dripping off the drawing paper.
3:09 how many of you ppl blew on the screen
Is there anything else your wife says you neglect?? 00:01
13:39 You’re definitely not being too detailed. Without having seen the reference, in the viewer’s mind it could be the makings of a baloney sandwich.😊
