  • The trifecta of Sentra, Altima and Maxima has been a mainstay of Nissan’s lineup for decades and even as its trucks outsell the cars nearly 2-to-1, the Altima remains the brand’s second bestseller. For 2023 the Altima gets a once-over, sharpening its appearance and bolstering its tech.

    Best looking Altima ever. If I were in the market for a sedan I'd definitely consider it. From what I've read, it seems the CVT has been vastly upgraded recently.

      I nearly bought an Altima. I got scared by the talk of Nissan CVTs at the last moment. It's unfortunate, they dropped the price by 4000 over the phone. The dealership knew they have a bad rep.

      @travelseatsyellowlab Před rokem +5

      @@fireemblemaddict128 the most egregious of the CVT issues were resolved in time for the debut of the refreshed 2016 Altima. You can't always go by what you hear, which led you to walk away from an excellent deal.

      @carterdavis5176 Před rokem +2

      CVTs can't handle the torque of a turbo long term. Nissan only uses them because they're cheap and they have a slight edge with fuel efficiency

    lol ive owned 3 Altimas in my life..04-16 & 20.. i loved them and mines were reliable. my 2016 drove a 8hr trip and used only 1/2 tank of gas.
    Sadly i feel they need to add awd, get rid of the CVT and add digit dash and it should be more competitive. If you travel alot like i used to it the best travel relax comfort vehicle out there.

    I am glad to see Nissan is still making a compelling mid-size sedan. Outside of the small omission of the lack of LED taillights, it's a very solid player. Hopefully, before the end of this generation's life cycle, and the almost inevitable replacement by an electric sedan, we get to see the transmission out of the current generation pathfinder finds its way in here, along with AWD.

    Im not sure why car companies produce cars with LED taillights and then redesign them with halogens, the older Altima's had LED and now the new ones don't. I feel like once you switch from halogen to LED , you never can go back.,

    • @MediumBluWonder
      @MediumBluWonder Před rokem

      I agree, and to add to that, they are actually losing money because this has created a bigger market for aftermarket LED taillights. That could have been money that they were getting.

    I guess for the manual mode, u can only use steering wheel paddles? No option to use the gear shifter knob. Nit a big deal i guess. Have the 09 Alt. You talk ab the non illunitated volume button on dash. I never use that but always use volume on steering wheel and also change sources and channels there.

    "Sexy" doesn't make up for three NEW transmissions by 92k miles in my Altima. Just imagine - there are people who are unironically still buying Nissan with their legal tender, on purpose, in the year 2023.

    Unfortunately (for Nissan) this car makes sense only for car rental companies. Nissan should spend its so limited R&D budget on something that has some sort of future; neither on the variable compression engine nor on the Altima. This review in my opinion fails to give the real overall positioning of the Altima within the current market.

    My 2006 Altima is still going strong. I would buy this one as a daily in a second, but CVT? No. There was a time when manufacturers were trying harder to sell something for everyone. There always used to be a choice. Like CVT OR regular. But no.. now they do one thing for the entire brand. CVT, take it or leave it. Well, I choose to leave it.. No Nissan for me, or Honda, or CVT Toyotas, Mazdas and so on.
    I have decided to just bugger them all, and buy a BMW M850. Even if I have to press that damn stop/start button after every startup. It's still worth the trouble.
    Just use it as a daily too. I'll have one car but that's ok. Problem solved.
