I'm one of the few not excited for Moana 2, given its production background: - Main actors weren't confirmed until a few days before the teaser (this is a trailer) - Original plan was for a tv series, but that was scrapped and mushed into this (like the Atlantis sequel 😬) - Different studio is doing the animation, and it is their first feature movie (look at how flat the water looks!) That's fair. I think a lot of movie fans have been doing that lately. It's just cheaper and when everyone can expect the movie to come to streaming within 3-6 months, its easier to wait for it now. Where, it use to be over a year before you would get to see the movie from your living room (or going to the cheaper rerun theatres after it's first run)
FUN FACT: This started development as a TV show for Disney plus before it was then decided it should be a movie; I think this is where a lot of its problems with the plot will become noticeable, but I’m holding out hope!
tbf Frozen 2 was a MESS in terms of writting, but beautiful in terms of animation and songs.... so far I'm expecting that same quality from Moana 2 but... I hope it proves me wrong!

I strongly agree with you Zamber. The animation is gorgeous and I love Moana's new look but nothing has me that interested... honestly it kinda feels like a trailer for a tv show more than a movie.
Yeah, I kind of don’t have a whole Lotta faith in this one because of all the reoccurring side background characters returning such as grandma and the Kokomora.. from this trailer, I feel like the only things added were “a little sister“ from out of nowhere and now Pua is joining the crew The only driving plotline that seems to be staring. This ship is the voyager thing. Which could be an interesting one
You know the weirdest thing? We’ve had Disney sequels that had no proper villain, to films that had them (see WIR, Frozen)… But now, to a movie that had no real traditional antagonist, we apparently might have a conventional Disney villain? Interesting… What’s most concerning is that this wasn’t planned as a movie but as a series; it’s not DTV like the 1990s and 2000s, but a lot of their worst sequels then WERE aborted Tv shows. Fingers crossed it actually progresses the characters and plot rather than being a lazy rehash (besides Moana being 22-25 and having a kid sister).
Criticizing already before the movie even comes up how is it weak if we the audience don't even know what's happening all like that yet?? No hate but people always do this
Trailers are supposed to make us excited and interested. I'm someone who isn't very critical at all. I've loved encanto and turning red and LUCA. And just because someone notices that the trailer isn't doing very good doesn't mean they're not gonna give it a chance.There's nothing wrong with being both realistic and hopeful at the same time. It's not impossible. This is the least critical I've seen someone towards a recent Disney Trailer. Unless you're responding to maybe other comments, this kind of reaction did not seem warranted
I know Disney is hard pivoting to sequels for their movies because shameless cash grab bs, but this feels like it may have been a good plot for a TV series, like the Tangled tv series. Have a crew of people, including Moana, go out into the world and do and learn and see, and overcome this curse thing as the overarching plot (of season one perhaps, then maybe season two they go even further?).
