- We went for a day trip from Kuala Lumpur: It was Ivana's birthday, and Abang Ajib took us for another kampung roadtrip, discovering the hidden gems of Malaysia!
We first started our journey at Rathaa Curry House in Puchong, Selangor for a banana leaf breakfast...roti canai, thosai, and chapati drenched in delicious curry and dhaal.
Then we drove north passing Kuala Selangor, towards Sekinchan. We drove through some kampung areas surrounded by rice paddies. Then we stopped at Orang Orang cafe in Sekinchan to try the weirdest thing we've tried in Malaysia: belangkas! This creature looks like a mix of sting ray + crab...weird looking and tasting.
Along the way, we also stopped to try sugar cane juice, and tapai.

ohthat stretch of road from kuala selangor to sekinchan is popular for their small medium food industries, so you can try to buy pecal, tempeyek/rempeyek, kuih tiram, keropok bawang and all kerepeks - chips banana,cassava and sweet potatoes (ivana will be familiar with some of these)

The horseshoe crab or in local we called it Belangkas has a blue colored blood. Its blood was used in Lab to detect contamination. The blood is expensive though and somewhat cruel the way they extract the blood.

We accidentally found this cafe when we were holidaying at sungai besar. First time tasted the cafe's menterang masak lemak and haruan masak pedas... It was wonderful and tasty with reasonable prices. This cafe is recommended.

The surrounding area for a special delicacy only found in short season, a special type sea shells we locals called 'Mentarang' like mussels but white colour
We have to carefully treat the horseshoe crab before cooking, it has a vein that ran through the body to its tail that is poisonous(if it burst when u r treating it you have to throw the horseshoe crab away as the whole crab will be contaminated) much like fugu (blowfish)...... btw they didn't bring you deep into the kampung to a felda and eat at a restaurant that sell exotic meats such as porcupine meat, deer, ayam hutan etc ?

The blood is blue similar to octopus since their blood has copper to 'capture' oxygen. Human and most other animals has iron their blood, hence the red hue.

Abg ajib is a bloody mvp mate. Showing you guys every nook and cranny of Malaysia... hahaha I love this series... I understand your pain Steve. I eat most fish but the smelly ones bother me sometimes. Also have you tried any sting ray food stuff? If they are cooked correctly it is one of the most interesting food texture wise.
