    Bro I have learned a lot with your vidz. I have built a lot of cables, boxes and gadgets in my 50 years of life and with every build I have gotten better. I have taken my skills to another level after taking the time to watch more vidz and read more tech. Thanks to your comparison vidz I don't have to buy stuff to see them first hand. It helps you to have things in stock that you will eventually use for a project so that's a great luxury.

    I use True1 for my woodshop tools, makes it so much easier to store them with a small connector on the tool, them plug in to as long an extension cord as I need for the job. Great connectors.

    Sweet video🙂
    Neutrik sells a proprietary quick disconnect designed specifically for panel mount speakON & powerCON. It’s called the NL-FASTON
    I much prefer them to quick disconnects you’d get elsewhere as you can always be sure they’ll fit even on the panel mount connectors with the dividers between terminals.
    That said, I have yet to try them on panel mount True1.

      Thanks Chris! I didn’t know these existed! I was just using the regular yellow 12awg disconnects like a looser! 😂😂😂 Neutrik has a lot of really cool stuff buried deep in the catalog. I appreciate the heads up, I’ll grab some on my next order!

    The True1 now has an additional size boot for larger diameter cable.

      That's good to hear 😎👍

    Nice Video. You gotta use ferrules on that flexible wire when inserting it in screw connectors though. Otherwise some of those fine strands might break and cause a higher resistance, causing heat buildup.

    Hi, the blue powercon connectors are they rated for 20 Amp or can they be use for a 20 amp configuration stage power box ? Thank you

    • @billylaguardia
      @billylaguardia  Před rokem

      They are rated for 20 amps and can be used for a stage box.

    May I ask, what is the punch size for True1?

    • @billylaguardia
      @billylaguardia  Před 10 měsíci +2

      standard 15/16" D punch for the inlet. You will need 1.125" for the outlet.

    can i power a pc with this

    • @genghisbunny
      @genghisbunny Před 6 měsíci

      Sure you could, it's just copper wire carrying 240v or 120v depending where you are in the world. PCs generally draw less power than stage amps, etc.
      Not sure why you'd want to use them over an IEC connector, unless you're just wondering about powering a PC off a Powercon/True1 distribution board, but yeah, you could.
      You'd need some kind of interconnect between the IEC-in on your power supply and the Powercon/True1 connector, whether that's a power board or an inline True 1 connection.
      Hope that helps.

    Are the connectors interchangable? By that I mean can you take a cable-mount TRUE1 receptacle and connect it to a panel-mount PowerCON plug? Looking at some product images, it doesn't look like it, so you have to choose one or the other to standardise on.
    edit: also, apart from the rated amperage, is there any difference between the yellow-and-black TRUE1's and the full-black TRUE1's? The yellow-and-black ones seem to be no longer manfuactured as seperate units, but you can still get them as pre-assembled cables.

    • @genghisbunny
      @genghisbunny Před 6 měsíci

      They're definitely not interchangeable between PC and T1. Totally different connections. I prefer T1 for the ability to make locking connections for extensions. I used them for rewiring my most-used woodshop tools.
      I'm not aware of a difference between black and orange True1. I prefer the orange for visibility, but black is nice and subtle for stage use. I'm in 240v world, so they're both rated for 16A/240v.

    There's a new blue/grey powercon revision out that has circuit breaking capability.

      Not according to Nuetrik. Therir website even specifically says powercon in non powerbreaking. True 1 is the only connector with powerbreaking. If you have a part number for a powerbreaking powercon, please share ir.

      @rickclever506 Well, maybe you should do your homework a bit better as they have been available in the old style connector since September 2021 with product codes like NAC3 FCA-1.
      The ones mentioned in the other comment have been available since January of this year (2023).
      The discussion of making the original Powercon suitable for breaking capacity between Neutrik and me had been going on since the introduction of the True1. Wasn't possible they said.
      I am also the guy that gave them hell for the yellow locking tabs (which eventually changed back), came up with the Ultimate Plug, declared them idiots for coming up with the FX-serie of Speakon, had them put 'Use Pz1 screwdriver' on the bags of the Powercons and Speakons and some other stuff like the new locking tabs on the newer connectors which make those connectors pretty much one time usable and not repairable on the road.
      Let's just say that we are now on non-speaking terms.

    • @Richard1977
      @Richard1977 Před rokem +1

      @@rickclever506btw: Neutrik intended to have the original Powercon to be faded out by the end of 2015 and be totally replaced by the True1. This was the plan in 2011.
      Called them idiots for even coming up what that idea. They laughed back then. Who's laughing now? 😂😂😂
