Thank you for your feedback. Very logical. Our product is much more expensive than stone. Best place for a fire pit is on a patio or better yet on gravel. Though high heat can degrade the surface of a patio over time. You can put stone on your deck and the fire pit on top of that, and that may work fine. It depends upon the type of fire pit and thickness of the stone. Also moisture under the stone can result in mold on the deck over time. We have one customer who ruined a deck using a slab of granite under a hot fire pit. The story is on our web site. DeckProtect is light weight, easy to move, and very effective.... also not the only solution is every case. Thanks again for your comment.
