Also, I congratulate you for your excellent editing. Some CZcamsrs show every second of every dull thing and it's just not useful. But you give us a taste of what you're doing, show a bit of how you do it, then show us the finished product. It's exceptionally well done. Thank you, DA
I’m so glad you enjoy them 😊
I think a dark floor with the pail blue walks will really be beautiful.
tanish or gray mixture
I agree with the colour of the railings.....dark would make them pop and really compliment the walls and room. You two just never stop....remember to relax now and them. You are doing amazing jobs on this beautiful chateau and are making everything come back to life!! Cheers!!
That's the plan! Hoping to relax with Alf and Val over soon!
I have to agree with Adrian on this one...that chandelier is too small for the hall.
The chandeliers too small, and just not spectacular enough for the entryway. I think the small chandelier would be perfect in the powder room.
Very good considerations Carole, it’s wise to wait and see how the color of floors will come out, and THEN decide what colors to paint the lower part of the hallways’ walls. Since you’ve done so WELL already in the Salon, I’ve no doubt the Hallway will be perfect as well.
I was thinking a medium to paler wedgewood blue would match the curtains just as well and be prettier. Then Carole could buy some real choice Wedgewood plates and/or a elegant Wedgewood vase to go in between the plates on the wide windowsills. That would add a touch of English charm in her French chateau! And fresh flowers are always a lovely thing in an entryway.
I think everyone was taken back by how stunning the salon looked and I couldn’t imagine how on earth you was going to top it with the hall. Already by you sharing your ideas, the entrance will be the true meaning of wow factor as you enter. Absolutely love your channel ❤
Thank you 😊
Ditto!❤
Thank you both for all the job you have done at the chateau. And the guide of London.
Our pleasure!
Brought back memories of my OE interesting to see how the skyline has changed
Just love their "sight-seeing" in their own country. Wish they would name the churches ...one was Westminster Abbey I think ...but the one with the Rose window ...was that also? It's hard to imagine that the nave goes back to 1065, and that English kings & queens have had their coronation there since 1066, and the gothic styled rebuild was in 1245. Amazing!
I am still in total admiration for the exceptional job you two are doing on your home. Just think of the work you’d have been saved if any of the former owners had done the details in the way you two have. Bravo and brava!!
Yes, but if the previous owners had improved it/kept it up, it probably would have cost hundreds of thousands more to buy. So they saved money no doubt, and ANY Value that’s added by all their work increases their property value, or future sale , by finding it in bad condition…doing the work themselves . Should they decide to part with it. That’s a VERY Smart investment🤗
🍷🍷cheers Chateau de la Fuerte
Not sure if this will work for y’all but when we cleaned all the grooves in our wood floors we used a high powered air compressor.
The stair case is breathtaking. I like the idea of the dark gray almost black on the stair railings. I like the idea of combining both chandeliers together and making a one huge one.
The hall and stairway is going to be beautiful. I agree with Carole about painting the stairway rails the same color as the radiator. That will be beautiful. Both of you hang in there, the work you are doing is so important and productive!!!
Thanks for the great💯 clear day💝 VLOG IN LONDON...I M GOING TO REWATCH IT
If they painted the radiator white it would almost 'disappear' in the light hallway. Then would there be a need to paint the spindles on the banister? It seems like so much work to paint all those spindles blue and I think the antique look is wonderful. But if I were to do anything I think I would paint them a metallic color ...maybe a dull brass(?) if I went to all that effort. After all, I think the spindles are metal to begin with. Also I think it is 'authentic' to keep some few things, besides the structure itself, original the way they found it. If the spindles are metal, it would be more time consuming than just painting them ...but it would be interesting to know what they looked like without a coat of paint. Their original color in other words.
You are both so thorough when you restore and renovate. You take no shortcuts. So impressive.
Omg the center of the hallway floor looks so good. Job well done !!!👍🏻
Thanks so much! 😊
That was awesome seeing London, as an American who has never been to England we only see certain things on TV, thanks for showing it ❤
I agree about not working on the same project when weary with it. I tend to get very sloppy, so best to take a break. Hope you both get a good break soon. ❤ Sometimes one or even two days is not enough.
I love when you get out and about and bring us along!
Lovely site seeing in London today!!! It is enjoyable for us who have not had the pleasure of a visit. Love how the Hallway is coming along.❤
It's a shame Adrian about your horse, I've had a couple of vehicles I've regretted selling, but that's the way it goes sometimes.
The dark grey spindles will certainly tie the hall together and look great. Love the darker floor.....
I owned 2 Ferrari's and an Aston Martin so I guess its time to let go now!
@ My mom is still driving at 90 & wanted a corvette until she got into my 2015 Porsche targa 911 & it was too low to get in & out of 😂 She is driving a Buick SUV instead😊
The hallway does look better and better. Adrian the King of Flooring. You both are fearless and that's what it takes to own and restore a chateau. Caroles visionof the combined chandelier is a 'hmmm' project as to whether you can make that look good. Very proud of you Adrian on deciding to give up your car for more practical purposes, although you both look so stylish in it. London was beautiful in all of its sunshine. I don't think I have seen it that sunny before. Thank you and see you on Sunday.
Yes. C u Sunday!
For sure you one of very few who do your own work without constant beeping whinning and complaining or ebegging grifters and congratulations a great job over the course of only a few years. Well, deserving of any holidays.
I appreciate that!
@ The vlogs that are really taking off are those where the chateau owners are doing most of the work themselves and not turning into a lifestyle channel of revolving personalities. Your vlog, Terry's, Dan's at Escape to Rural France, the Pethericks are all steaming ahead. The others should take note.
Oh carol adrian is 1 in a million so dedicated what man does give up a ferrari to more renovation at the chateau 🎉kudos to both of you ❤❤❤😊
Thank you 😊
Absolutely amazed at the progress the two of you have made. Well done.
Stairs: Railing Spindles a Semi-Gloss Black ( or a dark grey) with the top brass hand rail and balls cleaned but unpainted real brass would be stunning - especially against the black accents of lamp shades. Perhaps even do some matching black accents on some parts of your chandeliers. Perhaps tie it all together by doing the door hinges, also, so when doors are open they blend with the other and shout "This whole place is a class act!". 😇😇😇
I appreciate you both. You do beautiful work.
It would be interesting to strip at least one spindle at the very top of the house and find out what they looked like. If they're brass, they would be stunning. Someone said the fittings attached to the stairs are probably brass. It would be interesting at least to find out.
Yes yes yes to the dark grey. It matches the front door, heaters etc. That way the navy in the curtains is a nice gentle🎉 contrast.
Love to see you two enjoy some time away for a break . ♥️ thanks for sharing the sights , lovely .
Our pleasure!
I think everything is coming along nicely and love the color of the floor! I was sorry to see your beautiful car go! Thank you for the lovely tour at the end, we really enjoyed it...we are in the USA, so far away but would love to see England and France one day.
I keep the bottom panel s the white they are dark blue could make it feel cold . It looks gorgeous and light as is . Great choice for the staircase rails . ❤.Still watching yes the colour of the floor is just beautiful with the white . ❤ .London gorgeous it's funny how u change I used to be big on fashion too but have toned it down a lot now I think it's a faze u go through until other things seem more important like doing up a old Villa house or Chateau when buying antiques takes over clothes buying . Great video .
I agree about the dark colored skirting or floor boards ...it breaks up the endless feeling of height & breezy lightness in the hallway. If there must be color it should be pale to pale-medium ...perhaps a shade of wedgewood blue to tie in with the curtains ...but one expanse of white or palest blue is so dramatic against those lovely dark-rich floors!
Carole, Lovely video … enjoyed the entire thing. I’m not envying your spindle painting foray … can’t even imagine how tedious that will be. You have my undying admiration. Your perseverance together with your cohort, Adrian and his incredible talent will spur you onto another successful and completed project. You two are incredible together… But I am so sad about the “jalopy.” Loving it all from PA, USA.
How much fun to see the spots I have visited in years gone by!! Thanks for taking us along!
Our pleasure!
Amazing Work Guys. I love the colour the floor is going to be. And the tour of London was Amazing. I visited myself a few years back wit my school but I didn't get to see nearly as much as I did in the Video😂
I enjoyed your video very much. Blessings.
Thank you for everything that you do. It's very inspiring.
Love both your energy and you work so well together. The color of the floor is going to look great with the light color paint on the hallway walls.
Loved that episode. Glad you got to take some time off.😊❤
Thank you for sharing your London trip as well 😊
Oh thank you for a lovely trip round London. Its easy to forget how beautiful the architecture is. I bet you shed a tear when you said goodbye to your lovely car but if its just sitting there money can go to other things. Flooring coming along nicely. Till next video. Xx
Geez, I don't blame you for wanting to work on a variety of jobs in order to not burn out from one of those tedious tasks! That's how I like to work as well. My motto has been 'Variety is the spice of like.' That flooring job is such a drag of work and so are the walls! The center piece looks awesome!
Thank you for bringing us along on your UK trip 🌞and am sad for the sale of your horse as well😩 You two are lovely!
Thank you 😊
The flooring in front of the door looks SPECTACULAR-🎉🎉🎉
Thank you 😊
You are the hardest working people pleasure to see your projects!
Great choice Carol for a high traffic area and it adds a warm depth to the hall ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Yes it does!
Thank you for sharing your London trip - loved that! My dad was born in central London - a true cockney & I finally got to go over there when I was 15 to meet my grandparents, etc. & never have been back 40 years later (I was born & raised in Canada - my Dad came to Canada to be a modern architect). While I was there on this two week trip in the 80’s when punk rock was happening - he & my mom dragged me to every single cathedral there ever was & castle (which I never appreciated as I wanted to go see the sex pistols concert & nothing else). Now its funny I love all this & I am in Paris as I write this with my 14 year old daughter & she is the one who wanted to go to Versailles, etc.- too funny 😂 You two have done so much on your own & so many hidden talents - It will all be worth it but great to see that you keep taking time outs for sanity! Cheers! Charlotte
Enjoy Versailles Charlotte!
Fun to “Chew & Chill” with you two today! Ciao from Florida😎
Great variety today! Loved your vision for chandelier Carole! You could make that work with Adrian’s help! Loved your sightseeing of London. Thanks for the tip for best view Adrian. We did the tour of Parliament back in 2015. Surprisingly great! The inside hall and tapestries are incredible and seeing the difference in lushness between House of Lords and the austere look of House of Commons was an eye opener to say the least. Being Australian, we don’t have that class system in our country.
Stunning buildings. Thank you for showing them. Now i can see where you get your inspiration from.
It was wonderful seeing the sights of London! Thank you and so happy you got a rest from the chateau. Will be looking forward to seeing you both on Sunday. God Bless and don’t work to hard. ❤❤❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it
Always such a delight to watch your videos and they’re always so perfectly pitched for my taste. I so look forward to them. What I love most is the wonderful harmony that operates between the 2 of you. Of course you couldn’t do a chateau restoration without this essential bedrock harmony between the 2 of you but what a delight it is each time to see it unfold and to remember the same harmony one once had in one’s life too before life’s circumstances changed. 🤗
Yay, thank you!
Love, love the dark floor with the white and blue walls!
Love watching you too. Such good work & banter. ❤
😊 thank you
Love all the colors you’ve chosen, so inspiring.
Brilliant Carole painting the railings the same color as rads. !!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️🇨🇦👏👏👏👏🥂
Thank you so much Adrian for showing us London. I loved it. Thank you!! Bev in Colorado
My pleasure!!
Carole never runs out of creativity! ❤If she gets an idea she will find the way to make it work with elegance and fine taste. Yes you are a true chatelaine Carole!
Wow, thank you!
Painting the spindles dark grey to match 👌 great idea. Huge job, as you say.
The painstaking work is, clearly, a labour of love. Well done 💜🩷💚💛
Thank you for showing us your favorite architectural buildings in London. Absolutely stunning. I enjoyed seeing you both so happy there. Good to get “out of the house “
I so look forward to Wednesdays and Sundays with Adrian and Carole! 🙏🏼🙏🏼💙💙😊💥
Love, love, love the tour of London! Thank you for taking us along with you! Love from Vermont
Glad you enjoyed!
The gray for the spindles will look fab, good choice! You guys are really coming along. And I cannot wait to be back in London ❤️
Thank you for the beautiful tour of London. Great editing as always. You are both the greatest, you work hard together, and play with laughter and love. The hall is going to be stunning, actually it already is. Love, love, love your channel. xx
Thanks so much Stephanie! 😊
That ceiling in the stairway is so beautiful…. I think that androcite (sp?) color would look beautiful. Some gold accents to go with the gold lamp would be nice too. You’re doing great!
Amazing as always😘
Thanks so much for the London tour and tips! I’ll get there someday.
Last time I planned to go, they were behind schedule on finishing the Chunnel 🤣 (yes, that was ’a few years ago’), and alas the person I was traveling with didn’t want to go without a Chunnel crossing. 🙄
Lovely to see you both enjoying life in London cheers
I really like the fact that you guys enjoy each others company and make each other laugh. You are very interesting people and are comfortable in any situation, either being posh or grubbing around in the muck. love your vids.
Thank you so much!
Thankyou again for another great video, I really love your channel. I agree with you about the dark floor Carol and think it will go lovely with the wall colours. I'm presuming you are following through with the wall colour up the stairs and think painting the railings on the staircase the same as the radiator will be stunning. Thankyou for the wonderful visit to London too although it made me very, very homesick. ❤
You are so welcome!
Love watching you carefully transform the beautiful hallway. And it was nice to see the two of you relaxing in London. It seems as though the sale of the car begins a new chapter for the two of you!
Enjoyed the walj around London, thank you.
Our pleasure!
Patience, talent and perseverance, congratulations, you have it all.
Beautiful video I’m from London so this has special meaning for me. Thanks for sharing. Love your work on your chateau.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for the London tour. Brings back lovely memories of our three trips from Australia. Love London. Great grandson 11 and his Mum just back from their trip, both smitten like me. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Glad you enjoyed it
I think the anthracite gray would be lovely on the banister spindles! You have great instincts.
Thanks for taking us around London and giving us tips on where to eat Adrian. My partners been to London many times and wants to take me one day so I’ll tell him about the Sky garden.
That was a nice vlog. I enjoyed the London tour
Thank you 😊
Oooo I love the androsite grey! Great idea! AND I love the radiators in this colour! Beautiful!
Glad you like it!
Didn’t know you had a Ferrari Adrian! Beautiful and classic! Great work on the chateau, how about the dark blue for the spindles on the stairs - could go well with the gold/brass ball on the top. Thanks as always guys!
Beautiful work being done. ❤
Carole the floor is going to be stunning. The railing excellent idea . But May I make a suggestion, the balls on the baluster, keep them brass. Keep up the good work . Enjoyed looking at England beautiful country , architecture in those buildings, just amazing. Enjoy your trip.
Beautiful spindles. The dark grey and gold tops will be gorgeous. I would put dimmer switches on your hall chandelier! You can control the ambiance! Epic results Adrian and Carol.
Everything is looking beautiful and new, fresh and I love watching you both work with such “gusto” ; thank you for sharing….
Our pleasure!
love the tour of London! Carole, I completely agree with your choice to paint the stair rail the same as the radiators!! Keep up the good work!!
Thanks so much! 😊
You are showing in everything you do that your outstanding custodianship of your beautiful Chateau will be for future generations.
Love the dark floor!! Glad you had a little get away in London! Fun memories for you there. Sad about the Ferarri, but hey, you've got a Chateau!
So true!
Beautiful city. Thank you for bringing me along to London.
Our pleasure 😊
Thank you for the lovely tour of London! I miss traveling. The last time I was there was in 2007. Many things have changed! Maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to return to enjoy the Sky gardens.
I Hope so! 😊
First, I would like to say how much I've enjoyed watching all your videos and thank you for documenting your restoration project. My husband and I enjoy renovating and with our combined professional knowledge (he as a contractor and I as an interior designer) we are a great team too. It's also nice to see you two personally in these videos (real people). Lastly, I love the idea of painting the stair case spindles (or balusters) the same as the radiators and agree it will help pull color/design of that space together. Dark flooring will certainly help ground the space, with your light walls & ceiling. Ultimately it will be your choice and I'm sure it will be amazing. Sending lots of encouragement from across the pond!!
Thank you 😊
I like the idea of the dark gray on the stair railings, The start of the hallway floor is looking great, it will be gorgeous when done! Adrian, I'm not a fan of shopping either but I appreciate the tour of London while you waited😏I love all the architecture & design, especially the Church Carole pointed out at the end, Thank you 2🙂
Our pleasure 😊
Great episode for me. We’ll be in London for the first time next year so I bookmarked your suggestions in TripAdvisor💕
Have fun!
❤❤❤ amazing how you both keep going! The dark floor and dark railings will be fabulous.
Thank you! From Argentina! Love you
Thank you so much for the beautiful views of London, such a difference with the sun on those magnificent buildings, great photography Adrian.
Many thanks
Great vlog thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Spindles the same as your radiator will look fantastic. Shine that brass up to a mirror polish. And then pick out some of the details on the spindles in gold paint. It will look stunning! I agree with Adrian regarding getting a larger chandelier for your entrance. It’s the first impression. Also, I must mention again how much I appreciate Beth’s comments.
Thank you 😊
The bigger chandelier, the better when you first walk in would make for a "WOW" factor!! But I like Carole's creativity in combining the other two chandeliers. I think it would be lovely in one of her bathrooms or smaller rooms. Even combined, I just don't think they'd be big enough for the popping "Wow!" factor. Even an unconventional Venetian multi-colored or unusual-colored glass chandelier could work if it were big enough. I've seen some beautiful ones that look antique even though they are new ...they're still made with the old-world Italian craftsmanship.
love your videos, you guys have a great relationship too, thanks for sharing it all
Our pleasure!
My goodness what a lot of work good on you for your patience and determination. I know how disheartening it can be working on the one thing over and over. Carole I hope you are wearing sun screen we in Australia know how harsh and dangerous it can be on the skin. I absolutely loved London when I visited 6 years ago so much history. Have you been to Temple church (Da Vinci code church) ? So cool and interesting. I’ve always wanted to go to Harrods and have morning tea. I can say I did that and enjoyed it. Thank you for the revisit.
Thanks lovely video with the sights of London. Sightseeing is as hard work as château renovation’s 😂😂 You had me when you said your horse had to go 🤔🤔 I thought I haven’t seen a horse around !!! It’s hard a Ferrari or a Château 🥲🥲🥲. Often a dream to own one of them, but you are lucky to have them both, (for a while).😍
Strange thing is I don’t even miss her!
Gosh you guys work hard. The hall doesn't look like the same place. It is so much lighter.
I love how passionate you are with your projects! I have been binge-watching your videos.
Much love from the Philippines!
Thank you so much and welcome aboard!
The floor is going to beautiful! I love the idea of painting the iron on the stairs the same color as the radiators .
Love the attention to detail that both if you do. It's wonderful seeing the château coming to life. See you soon.
See you tomorrow night!
Yes I totally agree the dark grey would look great. ❤
I am sorry about the car Adrian. Yes, it make sense, but still sad. Also sorry that the hallway floor is going to be more difficult than you thought. Carole, the hall is going to be stunning. Love the idea of the dark grey on the spindles. Great video! Thank you so much!
