I tend to not quite retain book names until I've read them, as I have more of a visual memory, so having a reminder of the cover at all times would be a great help since I can just take a peak whenever I want to remind myself (I listen to the vids while doing smtg else). Watching this on a rainy morning with a cup of sweet chai is perfection! 💖
My fave books this year were Yami-hara, Emily Wilde 2, Strange Weather in Tokyo, A Magical Girl Retires, When Among Crows, Mermaid scales and the town of sand (manga). Book that made me cry was The Goodbye Cat; book that made me happiest was Milk & Mocha comics collection; fav character is Vera Wong from Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers; and book that surprised me most was The New Seoul Park Jelly Massacre! There are too many books I'm looking forward to, esp the new T.Kingfisher, but even if I don't get to all, I'll be satisfied if I can get more 5 stars before the end of the year!🥰

I recently read The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown and it’s been living in my head rent free ever since. It was such a well executed book. It’s Magical Realism and his debut novel. Definitely recommend and I’m excited to read his future novels.

I'm getting Snowglobe soon, coz I got to read a first page preview, and I like how it was written/translated. I consume Kdrama, Korean webtoons, and even some of the older manwha, but I haven't read translated Korean books yet, except for some parts of Coffee Prince someone fantranslated. I hope I like it~

I first heard about June Hur in one of your videos and I must say she is one of my favourite new authors as well. Red Palace was amazing, the romance, OMG, the romance 💕 and then The Crane among Wolves is just beyond words! Chapter 46 destroyed me! And for someone who’s not particularly familiar with Korean history it’s not just an enjoyable read it’s also an amazing look into a new culture ❤

    let’s go top 3?
    1. a brilliant friend (elena ferrante, she’s a genius only my opinion matters)
    2. the hunger games trilogy (a reread, but what a fantastic experience 10 years later)
    3. The love hypothesis (we never forget our first ali hazelwood am i right?)
most excited to read for the next 5 months:
    - six crimson cranes (you made me do it)
    - i want to try an Emily Henry as well, i don’t know which one

I got an ARC of a Sorceress Comes to Call and thought it was really good! I am really loving everything T. Kingfisher is putting out right now. I also read an ARC of Graveyard Shift by ML Rio, but didn't love it. As for When Among Crows, I think it's majorly underrated on GR. I really liked the characters and thought it was a lot of story in such a short little novella. I gave it 5 stars. You Should Be So Lucky is on my TBR and I have it on my short list.

The book I'm most looking forward to reading this year is "Everyone This Christmas Has a Secret" from Benjamin Stevenson. It'll be the third installment in the Ernest Cuningham series (following Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone and Everyone On This Train Is A Suspect) and both of those books made my favorites' list last year and this year respectively. Really happy to get another one this coming October.
