The length of the final boss is beyond beyond absurd. That has to be one of the most exhausting things I've ever seen in a video game.
its because he use the homing weapon and for some reason it goes to the ball instead of the boss so only his ''normal'' attack hit it.
Yeah I just got to the end boss and I'm pissed ..u spend the whole game leveling up homing just to find out its garbage for the final boss.. I didn't bother leveling up my other weapons cuz I didn't need them and now I'm screwed. I think I'm gonna just stop playing, such a disappointment. The game was great till the end
@@jamespero6803 yea then homing would be OP, that's why i think the developers added the invincible ball. Terrible game design but oh well. I think i changed my weapons to bomb for the boss.
@@jamespero6803 It actually doesn't matter which weapon you level up. The levels carry over if you switch weapons.
@@riversart2030 are u sure? I still have it on a save state . I'll have to go back n check but I could have sworn it dosent carry over
I remember beating this as a kid but now, as an adult, I have no idea how I accomplished that. Dang. I was a committed gamer when I was younger.
Right? I've played some of the games I beat as a kid and I can't for the life of me figure out how I did it with some of them.
I was the ultimate boss as a kid. Now I'm a mid level boss(especially online), who's getting his skills back!
Lol ikr guys? Me too. I beat the game almost with no hits, but I try it now, it's die every round.
It seem as a child we had passion for these snes games lol
I bought and finished this game at the age of 37.
Got to the last boss on a super famicom, but the final run was finally done on a 50Hz euro SNES: its a bit slower and made the difference.
Anyway as you said, it's harder as an adult, but if you're committed enough it can be done.
hot damn the music in this game...
+Keith May Yeah I remember this game as a kid, still is badass haha!
Definitely, one of the main reasons I played the game. Nostalgia
This is a very underrated SNES game. Also the SNES had some of the best gaming music, bar none
These SNES shmups are still good today.
underapreciated game
one of the best sound tracks.. oh lord
Concerning level 1, I feel bad for the planet below. The debris of all those destroyed aircraft must have been worse than an atom bomb.
Tic-Tacs > Cheerios > Chiclets > Doritos > Ninja Stars
my parents always said that junk food will kill you. Oh how right they are.
A long time ago, I played this game with a friend on his SNES. I had trouble finding this game because I didn't know the title (didn't remember the title screen and the cartridge label came off) I found it simply by watching the first stage for it's music. Ah nostalgia. I should really pick this game up again.
Derek S. Music Me too lmao
Wow...used to play this game at my grandparents house back in the 90's...never could beat it. Guess it's ok because the ending I envisioned in my head was better than the one presented. I never would have guessed the ending would be you just floating through space in your broken ship as your comrades flew past without even looking at you.
Gotta love SNES game endings.
Memorable music!!!! No dought!!!
I played this game in mid-90's and I remember my father saying to me that the SFX of the game were "drilling his head" XD
Excellent game! The first level music is the best of them all in my opinion.
Definitely going with 9:20 third stage as my favorite.
Que recuerdos de este clásico , me encantaba cuando era un niño 😊
i think i just had an aneurysm watching you fight the final bosses. 0_0
Man, the MUSIC. Back then when them developers put their mind into every single detail of a game.
Excellent dodging skills on Boss 4
My first shmup. Don't think I ever made it past the first stage. I thought about this game and came here to see what I had missed out on and I can say with certainty that THIS GAME IS LIT! It's also got REALLY good music and is a lot more danmaku-y than I was expecting. That final boss kinda dragged out, though.
exelente longplay
I remember playing this game alot back in my childhood days what a unique shoot em up for the super nes and also had no idea this game was made behide by the creators of rushing and beat jaleco although I never played the or heard of the original arcade version of earth defense force it's only the super nes on the emulator I played. But this game was my childhood soundtrack gameplay graphic etc was very enjoyable from my childhood I even drew pictures of the enemies and bosses because the design of the enemies and bosses where very cool very well created in this game. So thank you for uploading this video yeah
Dat Intro Boss Thunder
"EDF! EDF! EDF! EDF! EDF!"
A good conversion with some great graphics and sound (and some nice alpha blended transparent clouds on the first stage). It's a shame the slowdown took the shine off the conversion. Easily as much fun to play as other early shooters like Gradius 3, Darius Twin, Super R Type and others :)
I remember this game at my cousin Khairie's house. I had a total blast!
Good game, but can someone explain the ending? You succeeded yet in the ending screen your ships is destroyed?
YEAAAAAAAH! I SEARCHED IT SO LONG!!!! THX THX THX FOR PLAYING
🎵to save our mother earth from any alien attack🎵
Dang this was insane. I know I was just ok at this but watching the completion of level 5, great maneuverability.
good game with great significance.
did anyone ever associate what enemy was coming next with the music?
Holy Shit! I totally forgot about this game. I loved the themes within the game. One of my childhood games as well.
This was my game back in the days all them memories coming back.
You Should Use Photon. When You Reach Level 5 . Cuz. Its A Heck Of PWNAGE.
That, or vulcan or grenade. I specifically remember beating this game in its entirety using only the grenades when I was younger. They're not the easiest weapon to land hits with in the game, but they pack by far the biggest punch along with photon and vulcan. It's just a matter of preference, however.
@@MrAngrybassist I used homing back in the day im sure like most ppl seemed to fit my style. Which are top 2 hardest hitting ?
@@CZcamsR11107 I'm pretty sure that Photon and Explode are by far the most powerful weapons in terms of sheer burst damage. They're both rather risky to use alongside Atomic and Grenade since they fire directly ahead of you instead of targeting any enemies or bosses on the screen like Homing and S. Laser do, but they really shine once you get to lv.5 thanks to the shadow formation practically negating those drawbacks. The shadow formation allows the pods to target enemies and bosses directly, and that practically eliminates the need to aim at them entirely. Photon is by far the most powerful since I've seen people defeat the final phase of the final boss in four seconds flat just by spamming it in the shadow formation. Even uncharged shots from it are deceptively powerful. If you don't believe me, then go look for photon only runs of this game.
My childhood. :')
Another great and hard snes game.
I used to record this on my VCR. Love these sounds, and absolutely love the music. Wish i could find an mp3 of Naval Battle. I have the cartridge, but don't know how to record to the computer from the SNES.
most of the time in games like these, i confuse my own bullets for enemy bullets and so on. And they always make the enemy's bullets so damn small. lol
Super Nintendo is one awesome system!!!!!!
faints*
too much nostalgia.
Bro keep it up I played this in my youngest days never beat it got a chance to see the end love it
i miss this game
One of my fav games on snes
The Best shooter for Snes ! i prefer this game above the others !
RodrigoDigoJunho Gradius 3 was good too lol
Best shooter una mierda. Supera al jefe final si tienes huevos .|..
Un squadron has entered the chat
In the glimmer of the ice struggled a reflection of her own demise, lest she press on. A *premonition.*
U sir, ARE A LIVING GOD!
WHOEVER played this is a true beast👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Gracias, necesitaba estos consejos
Esse jogo é espetacular.
Pinche Juego era Lo Máximo..!! Lo recuerdo con mucho CARIÑO
Im 32 now and this Game glitched on me as a kid. When I started I had 4 or 5 shields and I couldnt take any damage. That's the only way I beat this game. I still have no clue what I did. Anyway the nostalgia is real
I'll have to admit the super nes mode 7 background out did the arcade versions background. The arcade version has no scaling in the background at all.
That Mode 7, Jesus.
At the beginning, the amount of mike & ikes flying on screen at any given times is enough to give anyone watching diabetes.
From past to future.
Me encontré este video y que nostalgia me dio, como fue posible que pude pasar ese juego cuándo era niño, ahorita lo veo imposible 🤧🤧🤧
hello, why don't you choose atomic when you are in level 5, for me it's better than homing, more powerful :), great long play, skilled^^
An excellent shoot em up. The last stage is obviously the hardest. I managed to defeat the final boss (the green being) after several attempts thanks to the most powerful weapon of the game where you had to concentrate your energy. It was fast because with the other weapons I always lost.
I love the sounds effects in the game! "PPPP-PPP-PPPP-TOWA!"
So reinforcements come to your rescue after you beat the final boss, huh? This is without a doubt one of the more brutal SHMUPs to ever be released on the SNES.
If you want to talk really hard shmups on the SNES, you have to name R-Type 3, that game showed no mercy.
And the slowdown mostly can be help ful in like tough situations too.
This game went ham!
( the master) you are really strong
35:25-37:38 the spaceship equivalent of moonwalking
wow awesome
I got this in 1993 for Christmas. I beat it once and never played it again.
that's one badass pilot!
why every of these era of Shmups end with you drifting through space with your ship totalled?
Well. This isn't Chikyuu Boeigun my favorite game, its Super EDF (Translate Chou Chikyuu Boeigun).
And Homing seems to be most reliable. Especially when it gets to the point where you can barely see your ship avoiding collision. Makes me wanna play
Don't use homing for the end level..this was painful to watch. Use photon.
i want to play this game again
Starting with the homing is really the most reasonnable choice to well start this game but for the 2 last level it is the worst choice because at lv 5 every weapons are homing...
+AmnesiaGm1 Thought the same. The overall play in the first levels is really crap (actually throughout the whole game, just the avoiding of damage is good). Its unbelieveable how he played through with this low skills. Like he played back all his mistakes.
The game music is so epic
wow, that's a game that did the snes to slow down. looks nice with good music.
2面と3面の音楽聴いてたら泣きそうになってきた
EXCELENTE JUEGO, SOLO QUE MI CARTUCHO TIENE UN BUG MUY AFORTUNADO, PUES AL RESETEAR ALGUNAS VECES EL CARTUCHO, TE DA VIDA ILIMITADA, POR LO CUAL PUDE TERMINARLO, YA QUE ES MUY DIFICIL
SUPER GAME EVER!
Music gives me strong 80s vibes.
Definitely better to use S-Laser when reaching level 4. Your ships will home in on them anyways. You kill things very fast.
Wow...I only heard of this game because it's on the Switch's collection of SNES games. It's still quite good! I haven't beaten the onslaught of bosses at the end though and you didn't make it look easy either.
what do you mean, how do you find SNES games on switch?
Use Grenade/Explosion. At late game level 5 weapon allows your tiny ships to automatically home on enemies with any weapon. You can just use grenade to bombard the bosses and the last turtle boss won’t last longer than 15 seconds.
Is it just me or are the grenades basically the falchion beta’s gravity bullet weapon.
WOWWWW
Damn it takes a heck load of fire power to put down that last boss. When I was a kid I could never pass stage 4 or 5. Now looking at this I now know I could never win this game.
Short and easy, but entertaining.
this is on wii u eshop
OMG I'll try this game.
Perhaps I'll put at my channel
16:13 This song is 🔥
It was too bad this game suffered from horrendous lag, this was one of my favorite snes games when I was younger, despite the damn near unbeatable last level
The lag's there to let the player survive during a massive bullet burst.
Dragon359 phonton is the best weapons on the last lvl. Go through the last boss in 3 seconds
Lag? Surely you mean chronic slowdown? That's why the Megadrive/ Genesis was thought of as better than the SNES, it REALLY did have a faster processor.
Every shooter was up against Gradius III. The best SNES shooter.
I'd say Gokujo Parodius and Parodius Da are the better hori shooters, both are pretty much Gradius, but in parody form. Konami really went out all out with the Parodius series, and since they came out after Gradius III, by then Konami had a better grasp of the SNES, so both turned out better.
I never heard of this game before D:
It's a great game
someone used save states in an em
'
how can save the last higher score then go again first stage to the end...
save up again again higher score...
nothing...
only zero score again again
Wow...
Why didja use homing the entire time? D:
I could kill the turtle in a fraction of the time it took you with grenade or explode.. ;o
I used photon and destroyed final boss in two seconds
@@spicyfoodchaser9406 how
@@trulli7016 I found a video of someone using photon so I used it myself to prove it wrong then It destroyed the regal in seconds
@@spicyfoodchaser9406 i have played the 6 stages of the game in nintendo switch the songs are super
@@spicyfoodchaser9406 i hate the final boss
my game
22:20 I survived but the centipede boss killed me xD
Doesnt seem that bad to me, but then again, I really just like the game for the soundtrack.
At the end when you see the other r-type ships flying along with you can't you imagine a 4 player r-type game!!!!????
37:43 this music is my Favorite
That last stage is so unnecessarily brutal. Forcing the player to fight a second boss fight after that long-ass slog of a "final" boss fight while flying backwards and dodging even faster homing projectiles is just vindictive.
I used to pick Photon for the last stage. It destroys the final boss in seconds if you set the two "helpers" to homing and hammer the fire button.
I'd always do Homing until level 4, then switch to S.Laser
