Al Michaels: "To Horry for 3!"
Robert Horry sinks the GW-winning three.
    Both: OH!
Al Michaels: "Unbelievable! This guy's off the charts!"
One of my favorite NBA Finals calls.

horry's post-game comments are enlightening into his incredible career clutch success: "i was hittin shots so i was gonna let it fly" (the calm confidence and cool but firm belief in one's own abilities) and "i just have fun" (the ability not to be overwhelmed by the moment because he simply treats it as a game, that kind of compartmentalization is unheard of)

And this was actually one of his worst games of the series.. he went 11/26 and missed a lot of shots he usually made. But his 19 boards were huge. And even though it's not on the stat sheet, his defensive presence was the biggest aspect of that series. It made Billups, Hamilton, and Prince shoot tons of jump shots cause he would either block or alter their shots when they drove inside.

The man is a Hall of Famer, period. IDC are about stats. KC Jones is in the Hall averaging 7 ppg with the Russell Celtics (and won 8 rings). Horry is the greatest 'role player' of all time. No other non superstar player...hell, there aren't many of those EITHER...was as clutch as Horry was. He was so automatic in the clutch that we remember his BIG MISS (2003 Game 5 vs San Antonio) and he was a role player. Name another guy in NBA history that teams trusted as much in big spots who consistently delivered that wasn't the superstar? Name another single guy. Then put them on three different teams where they nailed clutch shots that very well swung a title (Horry's 3 vs Sac in 2002, Horry's 3 here). Put this man in the Hall where he belongs.

I don't put this on Sheed. He's not a complete moron defensively. Watching this a couple of times, to trap in the corner was definitely part of the game plan. I guess they didn't expect them to go for a three (stupid btw). If Sheed made a mistake it was letting Manu get the pass away.

If Popovich would have let PJ Carlesimo be the head coach for these Finals, then the Spurs would have won in 5. It was clear Pop was caught up with out-coaching his close friend and mentor Larry Brown. If it wasn't for PJ's move to put in Horry, it would have been a costly mistake for Pop's legacy.

Tim Duncan had a terrible series he only played two good games Ben Wallace within his head the Pistons were in the spurs head billups was a better point guard then Tony Parker at time the only player that the Pistons didn't prepare for was Rob in they pay for it

      Duncan 2005 Finals Stats: 21ppg/14rpg/2bpg....Fail
So Billups was so much better than Parker.....lets take a look
Billups 16ppg in 36mpg...Parker 14ppg in 36mpg...its slightly better at best....so again fail....
I agree with Big Shot though he was awesome

23prostar10 Rip had a few good games but by in large he struggled for the most of the series. As a guy who averaged more than 20 points a game going into the Finals, you expected more as a Pistons fan, but he shot a poor percentage and was hounded by Bowen/Parker for the better part of the series. The main reason why the Pistons lost this series though was due to the disappearance of Rasheed and Tayshaun for almost the entirety of the series. Credit the Spurs for playing them well all series long...With a thin bench, the Pistons really had trouble scoring consistently throughout the series, while the Spurs proved to be the deeper team. Our starting 5 was undoubtedly superior to San Antonio's, but their bench and coaching staff (mainly Pop of course) simply outplayed and outsmarted us. The only consistent players we had were Chauncey, Big Ben and McDyess...The others were either wishy-washy or just didn't show up at all.
