  • Composed by Tyler Cunningham
The Battle of the Teutoburg Forest, (Autumn, 9 ce), was a conflict between the Roman Empire and Germanic insurgents. The Germanic leader Arminius organized a series of ambushes on a column of three Roman legions headed by Publius Quinctilius Varus. Roman sources indicate that over the course of four days Arminius destroyed all three legions and ultimately prevented Rome from subjugating Germania east of the Rhine River.

@C.J MacDairmant You are right in a sense. But I think he means classical German. "Ethnic German". But I agree, it's easier and better to say Teutonic or Germanic. Or Anglo-Saxon, since they evolved differently to continental and Scando Germanics linguistically and culturally

You mean the "civilization" of enslaving people, the "civilization" which let gladiators fight each others til dead, the "civilization" of nailing humans on crosses and let humans killed by lions to amuse roman citizens? Well done Arminius, well done!!! For me such kind of "civilization" is the real barbaric one.

First King was king of Holly Roman empire and Holly Roman Empire was not a kingdom. On the end officialy they spoke Proto-Germanic language without any proof. No evidence about that language..
