Jesus told Pilate, you could have no authority over Me except it had been given you from Heaven. Rome was given the authority, and God is the One who established it for all the nations at that time. But Barbarians don’t accept any restriction on themselves, not even for child sacrifices, which Rome put a stop to. So we should give the Romans a tribute to their civilization and the exercise of that authority.
