Global History Regents Review | January 2024 Multiple-Choice Section

- In this video, I review the multiple choice section from the January 2024 Global History Regents. Watch as I read and explain the readings and visuals, as well as provide background information that corresponds to each question.
It is always a good idea to brainstorm information you may know about the topic being discussed in each document before reading. This will help you activate your prior knowledge. It is also recommended that you practice using the process of elimination when answering multiple-choice questions. You can exponentially improve your chances of success if you can eliminate a couple of answer choices.
Here are the various topics that appear on this section of the exam:
- Centralization of power in France under King Louis XIV
- Enlightenment ideas and philosophers
- Size and advantages associated with the Ottoman Empire
- Breakup of the Ottoman Empire
- Simón Bolívar and nationalism in South America
- Imperialism in China and the Opium War
- Protest movements during World War I
- The Scramble for Africa
- Decolonization in Africa
- African nationalism
- Vietnam War
- Fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of the Cold War
- Reforms in China during the rule of Deng Xiaoping
- Tiananmen Square Massacre
- Globalization and the positives/negatives associated with free trade
- Universal Declaration of Human Rights
- Human rights violations in the former Yugoslavia

I was just wondering how long I should take on the enduring issue essay so I don’t run out of time??
Thank you 😊
I’d probably try not to spend more than an hour and a half on the essay
Thx this will help me man u a W man ❤
Glad to hear it!
Last second studying goes crazy, I know most of the material but I just want to make sure ill pass 🤞
You got this!
Do the global history regents still do thematic essays? When I check the regents online I only see the enduring issues essay
only enduring issues essay
Good morning, Mr. Cellini. I did the test. For the essay part, I didn't pull out a quote from the documents, but I summaire it insteaed and put (doc.5) at the end. Was that right to do?
For sure. It’s not necessary to use direct quotes.
so i have a question can i review a lot of topics and then do my regents as a practice ish and then possibly from there yeah? like what topics are most likely going to be on regents
No real pattern has been established. You could see anything from the curriculum. Check out the last few exams on the state website. www.nysedregents.org/ghg2/home.html
IM LOCKED IN FOR TOMORROW
Hello I’m not sure if your gonna be seeing this but I have a question for regents! Is the essay graded separately with the multiple choice and short answer? Because I think I ddi pretty bad on my multiple choice… and the essay I did freedom speech as my ending issue topic
thanks bro studying last minute😭
How do I differentiate the Sino-Japanese War, the Opium War, and the Boxer rebellion
Sino-Japanese War (1894) = conflict between China and Japan over influence in Korea.
Opium War (1839) = China tried to stop Britain's illegal smuggling of opium into China.
Boxer Rebellion (1899) = China's failed effort to remove foreign influence
Hi mr celliei thank you so much for helping but can i ask you a few questions?
1.in the crq from jan 2024 they ask what were the historical circumstances that led to the invention of the spinning Jenny and the water frame. what can i say for that?
2. can you give me a quick timeline of what happened from the early 1700s to the early 1900s? my teacher didnt go over that time period very well
1) You can discuss how Britain had an overseas empire that brought in a lot of financial resources necessary to start new businesses and develop new technologies.
2) Kind of tough to hear, since there are so many places to discuss. I'd try to watch as many of my videos as you can before the test.
Can you break down how to analyze a text for the Enduring issue essay?
I have videos on that. Check them out.
How much time do you suggest student spend on the multiple choice, and all other parts of the exam?
Everyone is different but I’d make sure to spend at least an hour on the essay, if not 1.5 hours. The multiple choice can probably get done in 45 minutes and the same with the CRQ.
Just took my global regents 😭I’m not very confident in my multiples choice but I think I did good on the short response and enduring issue essay
Great job!
I have a question I was asked to pick 1 enduring issue that supported my 3/5 documents but I accidentally picked 3 for the 3 documents, are they going to take point off for that even though I gave good explanations, I explained many things that happened in the past and why it affected each thing! Are they still giving me credit for it
What are some questions i should look out for that always pop out on the regents. Also what are some enduring issues that come out a lot on the regents.
TOTALLY not watching this an hour and a half BEFORE MY REGENTS ❌️❌️❌️ (thanks for the advice in the video btw)
You got this!
Thankkk youuu
You're welcome 😊
Good luck everyone taking the regents today!
Ima ace this test
You got this!
love you big bro ❤
💚
Hey Mr. Cellini, I just finished my regents five minutes ago and I picked the enduring issue “impact of power” would that work?? I was going to choose conflict but I chose that instead. I hope that whoever grades my paper thinks that impact of power is actually desire for power.
I picked conflict becauase that was the safest choice. As long as you explained how its an enduring issue it should be fine
Yes, you should be fine.
@@NoobieNub_that was my first option too but i changed it for some reason, halfway through my essay i also was thinking of human rights violations but it was too late to change it 😕
I have the regent today 🙏🏽
You got this!
Also do you know any channels that go over chemistry. Thanks
Unfortunately I don't. Hope you find one!
Can you explain exactly what they mean by outside info? Like can I relate it to other things or is it just background
It's a little bit of both. Check out my latest enduring issues review video for help with this.
Wrote 11 pages on the essay. I’m 100% passing.
Is it possible to pass the exam just off multiple choice??, also thank you so much for making these types of videos❤.
No guarantee. I’d recommend trying to get as many points as possible on the writing portions to be safe.
My regents is today 😢 guys wish me luck 🤞🏻
Good luck!!
I got a 97! The highest in my grade.
Fantastic news! Congratulations!!
good luck to everybody today
Looking back the exam wasn’t bad, the documents kinda sucked for the essay, a lot of people picked human rights violation but I picked the impact of power and lack of response from government to correct the issue. Multiple choice was quite easy as well.
Yeah, the exam overall wasn't that bad, the mc and crqs weren't hard at all, but the documents for the essay were...weird. I put down nationalism as my enduring issue so...guess I'll hope for the best!
@@MN-eb1ks The docs were just bad, I saw the common theme of power abuse and non violence so combined them.
@@FNBRVolts Fr though. I'm just glad there are multiple possible answers for the essay, power abuse and nonviolence also sounds about right.
@@MN-eb1ks Im lowkey kinda confused how u pulled nationalism out of 3 of those documents, can u elaborate?
@@FNBRVolts Oh uh, sure. i used documents 2, 3 and 4. if i remember correctly, document 2 was ho chi minh wanting reforms to be brought to vietnam, which was a nationalistic movement leading to the vietnam war. document 3 was india saying they don't like the british, also a nationalistic movement. and document 4 was all about estonia maintaining its nationalism through singing throughout rough times. i just saw those three and thought "ah yes, nationalism".
Peak your name is similar to my Rhetoric teacher's Mr. Chillemi :3
Im talking the regents tomorrow and i wanted to ask if you how many sentences we need for each crq question
You can answer any CRQ question in 3 sentences, max. Check out my CRQ videos.
do you do push as well?
Unfortunately, I only do world history
For the multiple choice of todays regents, there was one question that showed a document that showed Karl Marx’s ideas and it asked who most agreed with it but I couldn’t remember who the people in the answer choices were! After using process of elimination, I narrowed it down between 2 people and just randomly guessed from there. What was the answer to this question?
It should had been fidel castro as he was the only communist leader out of the other four choices. The article talked about karl marx which is about communist.
@@NoobieNub_ thank you! I recognized his name but completely forgot who he was or what he did. Unfortunately when I did eeny meeny miny moe between him and someone else it did not land on him so I got that question wrong😔
Can you please do a video on the crq's from January 2024? I need help with the second crq set.
Unfortunately won’t have a chance to do that before the regents. What’s your question? Maybe I could help.
Yes in the second set of crqs I’m just confused. Did the Industrial Revolution give people jobs or take away people’s jobs? Thank you!
Skilled worked who used to make their products start-to-finish by hand were put out of work at this time. However, the Industrial Revolution created a demand for unskilled labor on assembly lines.
Mr Cellini, does the enduring issues essay have to be a problem? or can it be a development of something over time such as industrialization. Like, can I talk about industrialization and how it positively impacted people, do I need to include how it negatively impacts them too?
Doesn’t necessarily have to be a problem. Industrialization is a common issue on the regents. Remember that industrialization does often come with problems.
But yes, discuss the positives as well.
@@MrJCellini thanks!
if there any sources where i can find a lot of information for CCOT during the 21 century
For which issues? I could probably help you out.
@@MrJCellini i meant like i dont know any somewhat modern events (i only know like BLM, covid, Afghan war, chinese censorship of media, and like russia vs Ukraine), i know nothing about specific anti globalization/ protecting the environment movements in 21th century, womens rights 21th century (i only know of like in Iran with hijab's), and i have no examples of child labor/unfair wages in the present day
my teacher hasnt really taught too much stuff after 1990s (except the arab spring) bc she teaches ap world and her advice is more like "its easy to pass, but its hard to do well" and like "most people in the class will get a 3 on the essay" (but we'v e never written the essay in class)
Seems to me like you’re going to be just fine. Perhaps look at a review book quickly about some modern trends. Regarding the environment, I’ve seen the Kyoto Protocol come up on the Regents.
Maybe look at cobalt mining in the Congo for child labor
im scareddddddddd

I don’t think I’ll be able to get another video done before Tuesday. Feel free to ask me any questions you have about it though.
that was so hard
Tough test for sure! Fingers crossed for you!
i am so cooked on tuesday, like the mcq and crq is free but the enduring issues essay i am cooked, i know barely any content in depth
Just explain the context of the documents and pick 1 enduring issue that applies to each of them. Like for example “document 1 represents the holocaust, orchestrated by the nazi party and led by adolf hitler during the 1940s, which aimed to accomplish ethnic cleansing of the Jewish population, resulting in the death of millions of Jewish people and anyone the nazi regime deemed useless. The document shows jewish resistance throughout the discrimination and genocide of their population. Hence, applying to the human rights violations issue.
Just use conflict for the enduring issue, conflict can be easy and very helpful for it.
Ur amazing what would I do with out u.
