#powkiddyv10 #emulation - Hry
The AI pulled a rabbit out of the hat with this one.
Powkiddy AI! 😂
This machine could do with the PSP 1001 analog controller.
@@AllenJohn Yes but it used to be so fiddly, i had it fail on my so many times. Eventually got good at cleaning the dust out without opening the PSPs
@@Jamesssssssssssssss I used to get stick drift, and used to get it replaced. And I meant the PowKiddy V10 could use something to a PSP analog controller nub play N64 02:25
Lmao no one gets it here that Taki is making a Rabbit R1 reference 😂
The irony of "Mario is Missing" being the only Mario game. 😅
"Mario is Missing" is not a game. It's a statement about the handheld. 😂
For under a $100 handheld, uses Emulation Station/ARK OS and it has good face buttons.
The small battery and flashing a new image aren't that big of a deal breaker, if you really like GBA.
You're one of my 2 "Go To" reviewers for handheld gaming and emulation, so I'm very happy to see another video from you (it's been too long), but I'm uncontrollably excited for your FPGA endeavors... Especially the Handheld and Flagship Console!!!
This looks like a perfect little SNES/PS1 RPG system. Re: "Decisions like these that make me scratch my head". I think that all of these sub-$200 machines are intentionally goofed up in one small way to keep us on the hook for the next one, which will itself have one weird goofy decision so we keep buying.
I really don't like a wider screen for Snes and PS1.
i will stick with my r36s
Its 3:2 so perfect for GameBoy Advance, Snes might look weird due to not square pixels but you nothings stopping you from having fun.
Or still don't buy one. Like myself. This is the reason I still haven't purchased any yet.
Intentionally they just didn't spare the expense for the chassis side buttons. That's why it's cheap, they all add up to that.
I'm still rocking my 2DS. Because the shoulder buttons are actually on the side, you don't have to pull the console towards you(r palms), nor torgue leverage into the curved shell buttons, you can just tap at the sides like pinball, even fullly extended fingers. Both screen dimensions are available, though that's an issue with software support if you can't actually swap between them.
But Taki, how can it be a hidden gem when it just got released? lol
Taki is good at stretching the truth a lot of the time
my impression was that there are lots of folks who overlooked this device on paper when it got first unveiled and as sample photos came out. Like it having an RK3326 in 2024, for example. The RG351p got a lot of love long after its release, because it worked well for GBA, something similar could be happening here.
@@joeshlong9614 Well I saw that, I'm talking about the device being recently launched so how could it be a hidden gem? Generally it's something with some time on the market and is found out as a hidden gem due to its good traits which hasn't highlighted before.
Hidden because it’s the first I’ve heard of it and I follow a bunch of retro handheld channels
ambernic also does a good job at drowning their competition with constant releases and miyoo has the hype
Was eagerly waiting for someone to review this device!
I was looking forward to this review. Thank you!!!
Wow they finally added some text in the back. Leaving it blank made the RG30 so budget.
Omg its like the Anbernic 280v with updated software, i LOVED that console
Wonder if it's as pocketable. Hope it can replace RG280V!!
RK3326, the immortal chip.
I excited to see a 3:2 screen! Now I just want them to make a horizontal version.
Don't we already have like 13 of them?
@@JimmyZeng not with 3:2 screens. The only ones I know of are the rg351p/m
@@GoatV8 most are 3:2, rg351 is one of a few exceptions.
@@JimmyZeng almost all of them are 4:3
@@GoatV8 3326 started with odroid go advance and a swarm of clones, like rk2020 and rgb10, you probably entered the scene late.
taki back with another budget handheld
Even my Data Frog has a volume wheel, geez.
Not sure if it’s just your camera, but the side bars when you’re not in full screen look as black as an OLED in this video. I can’t imagine it’s actually an OLED for $40, so nice work PowKiddy on finding a decent LCD/IPS or whatever it is. Looks great.
Hmm I'm interested in this over that new Anbernic. So I'm gonna have to wait for both to show up on Aliexpress.
Gonna use this solely for GBA. Just ordered the $39.99 Grey one like yours in this video. Free shipping was nice!
How do we set it up? I want this sour snes, Neo geo, arcade, gbc and gba
Seems like a great device, finally they're getting out of that long term 3,5" screen, the console is Compact, budget friendly, has beautiful colors patterns and overall looks like a fantastic gift for a friend.. or myself! ✌🏼🤓🎮
I'm so excited about this device. It'll replace my Miyoo mini, as that was a bit too small for both my hands and eyes
Oh no, the powkiddy strikes back
I'm happy Powkiddy FINALLY improved their D-Pad design!
The start/select cutout and the shell scream "cheap". Old gold Powkiddy
Just got it for 35 shipped. Couldn't beat that price for what you get and to add another to my collection.
woah awesome handheld
thanks for the video
Gameboy the long wayyy
Ah yes, Goldberg’s favorite Gameboy
You eat corn the long way😂jk
Btw one fairly decent solution for scaling which you might mention next time is to use the Sharp-shimmerless shader, which is light enough to be used in most content on 3326, yet very effective and not as blurry as the RGA scaling.
Great detailed review! 8 hours on one charge is really good for that price i think. And beating the 40 buck line is probably one of the main goals as that's an extremely tempting price. I run most things on the deck, 3dsxl or vita, but there are times where i feel that i'm lacking a really cheap system that won't be a disaster if it gets a little scratched or busted. I mean, sure, the 3dsxl and vita goes down in a pocket, but i still only bring them along in a very sturdy bag, so they become semi-portable.
For the time i'm holding out for the fpga though, to add another system to that category XD
get the r36s 40$ way better then this on
@@cjjorge6636 Unless you want a dedicated GBA player. Why I ordered one
looks good, can't wait for price drop to 15-18$ as R36s
Looking forward to getting mine (hopefully this week), would a screen protector for the RG351P work for it?
ArkOS is my absolute favorite OS for these devices.
I don’t think you mentioned it but for the rg35xx sp the games differ from the storage space for example 64g comes with 5000 games but the 128g comes with 8000 games
Man... for these videos I bought 4k monitor.
Perfect, I was just getting curious about these, thanks. I wonder, are the buttons and membranes compatible with the RGB30?
I hope Powkiddy release a 6 button version (with trackpoint instead of analog) of this device.
Price point is very attractive especially for the decent build quality and snes style. I’d like to see a performance show case with some hard to emulate PlayStation and Dreamcast games, like Tekken 3 and Sonic Adventure 2
Any way to get a list of games included?
no WiFi in 2024 is such a dealbreaker
Damn If they had implemented those shoulder Buttons on the rgb20sx
Perfect for GBA. Barely shows any GBA games running on it.
Been waiting for so long for a review. Not sure I'll get this one unfortuntately but hope Powkiddy keeps the build quality up. Seems like they were fed up about our complaints of the volume controls being inverted so they just removed them all together 🤣 Thanks Taki :))
That's one way to handle the buttons being flipped!
Are there any vertical handhelds on the market with something way stronger than the RK3326? (also ideally with fast C-to-C charging support, I really miss that in handhelds I own) I wouldn't mind going a price tier or two higher if it means less compromises.
Android phone USB C to USB C Will prob work too.
USB tethering it worked on my R36S at least
Yeah, i still prefer my Miyo Mini Plus and RG35XX Plus over that, but it's a nice retro handheld for GBA though.
the r36s is still better to me
Looks like the anbernic rg280v form factor wise. Which definitely needed a refresh. Though not as mini so probably not the same category.
get the r36s wa better and nice looking for 40$
hey cool
a device with a screen actually suited to gba games
i still find it funny that the device made to look like the gba sp has a screen that is terrible for gba games
Is rga scaling better than just using one of the interpolation shader like that sharp billnear one?
Or even a normal 2x filter + bilinear ?(which I think is around the same as the above shader but on cpu)
There is a sharp shimmerless shader as well though I not sure if they are available for rk3326 devices.
For this combination of aspect ratio / resolution, yes.
How is this stack up against miyoo mini plus?
interested to see some 2D PSP games running on this
Wondering if this or a used retroid pocket 2+ that now goes for around the same price used/pre-owned is better lmao. Feels like the retroid might be a better choice by this point (seeing as retroid is out till 4 by now so everyone is getting rid of their 3 and 2 models)
This one or the Miyoo Mini Plus? They're both the same price here where I'm at
Other than snes, is there any other systems that need changing to a less intensive core/option?
Does mgba give issue with the more intensive stuff?
Same for genesis/sega cd, pc engine and psx (need disable enhanced resolution for certain titles?).
Powkiddy of all companies. Crazy times when Powkiddy puts out a handheld that's a win. Powkiddy never seems to adhere to any specific design language when it comes to their handhelds. Thanks Taki! Great review young lad.
It seems like Powkiddy has deals with third-party design firms or partner teams to make and brand their products. There's inside info to kinda confirm this.
@@gluttonousmaximus9048 Well that puts everything in perspective when it comes to Powkiddys design language; they don't have one. Thanks for the info. Totally makes sense.
5:21 does not support C-to-C charging. for those wondering...
still waiting for the Retroid flip 2 xD I need my portable Gamecube DS darn it!!
With the price it's one of the devices that fall into the "it's too cheap not to buy it" it would make for a great give for someone who's looking to get into the space or a vacation device where it's cheap enough to not be pressed if you lose it in another state or country.
I wish many brands look into Snapdragon 855+/865 processors or Dimensity 1000+/1200
Why stop at these? They are already going to be more expensive than the Switch, so they should just go all the way to current Snapdragon.
13:06 anyone know the game here?
I've been looking for a good cheap dedicated GBA device. It's between this and the Trumui Smart Pro, but I'm leaning more toward the V10 just for portability.
Powkiddy : release a handheld with shitty softwere
Community devs : say no more
Mine should be here any day now! 💚
What game is this at 13:24? The Galaga-esque one?
Edit: It appears to be Gun Nac for NES
Edit 2: This game take immediately takes an odd turn, and now I'm fighting space rabbits?
Mine arrived in this exact colour option a few days ago ..... Mine has WiFi and works , but no N64 or Dreamcast emulators
Venho do futuro, estamos em 2040 e a POWKIDDY continua lançando portátil com CPU RK3326 😂😂😂
I had two rg35xx wich i returned because the lcds had issues. Green lines or bright spots.
But these small handhelds are too small vor my hands when player games where you need l+r
If by Gem the comparison is between a Diamond and Cubic Zirconia, then maybe.
When you look at how many budget handhelds there are with better SOC's then even if just a tad more expensive, saving those extra pennies will yield far better and satisfying results.
This is a backward step unless it was gong to come in at more like £$25.
3:2 is unique enough
The stairs all looked the same to me
I know you're showing OOT here but if you're using the D pad to move how exactly are you handling the C button usage?
You have to map two of your face buttons to two C buttons, and use shoulders for the rest. It's a PITA.
@@TakiUdon I do not think this is a good one for N64 handheld then.
Everything else seemed solid though, I don't really have any complaints I can think of for this one. For $40 anyway if this thing was like $200 I would.
The RK3326 can play some but it’s not too powerful so n64 and Dreamcast is more like a little bonus but I wouldn’t grab this for those systems even if it had the proper buttons
Does runahead work on this? The problem with some of these devices is that the emulation lag or display lag is greater than the original systems. Enabling runahead mitigates this but no reviewer tests for it.
My hands hurt just from looking at it. They ever hear of the word "ergonomic"?
I actually like the form factor of this, and I'll give a device this cheap a pass on a poor speaker since it has audio out. It really seems more like a cheap device for people already experienced with them to have something to tweak and mess with. This level of hardware and form factor (not a fan of side by size shoulder buttons, but it works) would be ideal for the kind of games I make if I could get native arm64 applications to run within ArkOS. Number of buttons, wide screen aspect ratio, decent to above decent build quality, and it's like 40-50 bucks. I'm also working on a PC-88VA "Emulator"/"Fantasy PC," so 4:3 would be nice too, but I can deal with black bars. That would give a way to test graphics on the sides anyway. 40-50 bucks to test the non-bare-metal version (built to run bare-metal on a Radxa Zero) on a handheld that also lets me test more native wide-screen applications all in one device is great.
So weird not having volume buttons
Btw I dont have any of those slowdows in Mario RPG with Snes9x Current on the current version of Arkos on OGA (which this is effectively clone of), so maybe it could rather be a problem of that old Arkos build ?
Wow that's a chonker
I want pocket F-Zero GX (solid 60)
Any reason to buy this if I have mm+? Except for "tinkering and collection".
cheap and perfect screen for GBA
If they put the kind of energy into a slightly redesigned RGB10Max3 with Dualboot Android and better repairability, I'll bid farewell to my Anbernic RG353P.
What game is that at 13:00 ?
I think it is Tomba 2 for PS1. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomba!_2:_The_Evil_Swine_Return
Anyone knows the RPG he's running at 0:46?
Edit: It's Chrono Cross.
Chrono Cross
black bars are huge
Can it run psp and how does it look?
With Wifi Dongle will ArkOS update?
yes
Great budget GBA device...I wouldn't really play other systems on it though.
We wanna see that mister clone handheld.
The handheld doesn't really fit the clone definition since it's not based on an existing product. I also don't know at this moment if any of the consoles will be on this channel.
@@TakiUdon I see. I am mostly aware of it because of VideoGameEsoterica. I didn't realize it was completely different hardware from the other project. As someone who can't stand twitter or whatever they are calling it now, is there a better source for updates on those projects?
@@TakiUdon the company/factory that makes the r36s will definitely clone the v10
what is the game at 15:27? Thanks!
Cannon Spike (probably on Dreamcast)
I might buy this Handheld. However it's too bad it doesn't have WiFi, Bluetooth, or more importantly Rumble Motor Functionality. ☹️
the r36s is better 40$ i love mine
This is the most horizontal vertical handheld I've ever seen.
Do you know what happened to the Orange Pi Neo?
I don't. They said it was done months ago.
These come pre installed with games correct ?
The immortal 😂 RK3326
What is the game at 15:20. It’s the 3D spaceship game.
So, if moded with your cons in mind, it’ll be great…
Same price as the amazing V90, nice upgrade in capability over the V90 but... Whats the purpose in having a device that can do 3D games but not have an analogue stick. And I get the whole "nostalgia" over making devices look like a Game Boy, but weve had SOOOO many devices that look like a Game Boy y now did they have to make the V10 look like this?? What with that rounded edge and fake speaker grill.
Yeesh! The Teardown. Looks almost like Powkiddy fired the team that designed and built the X55. And here I was hoping for a slightly more powerful PS2 and Game Cube capable X55 with analogue L2 and R2. =,(
I still can't bring myself to buy a Powkiddy.
Not the oled video i expected😂
Is this new? Where can I buy?
It’s 1:34 am I was gonna sleep
Now I’m watching this video
The only issue with these is the lack of OS support. If you are a tinkerer, this is no issue, but definitely a significant downside for someone new to the hobby.
Why...why cant we have a dpad such as that on high-end range handhelds??????
I want it! Oh- I have like 3 of these I never play, because I grew up, but continually forget.
