This actually worked. Everytime an electronic broke, I tried fixing them myself but I rarely succeed. This is like my first win in 5 years
It's so stupid that PS5 controllers already have stick drift.
Stick drift is good, my left stick develops a real life of its own
Next gen more like last gen still
I got the black headphones for myself for Christmas just before hand I got myself a second duelsence in black official midnight black still
And I’m here because it’s literally just started drifting fast to the left constantly so I can’t even play my ps5 now 😤
@@theirishninja8199 FUCKING RIGHT??? i had to buy a new one and it’s the black one as well…but dude wtf I’m so tired of these shitty sticks
@@nickyscott2343 I’m sure it’s done on purpose so everyone has to get new ones every so often constantly and steady profits but it is a joke that why can’t even make remotes that are smooth anymore
Thanks for making this. The detailed teardown and explanation helped me fix my drift, for the moment. It's actually quite easy to do.
Beautiful guide. Very detailed and comprehensive. I had stick drift in both, left and right sticks and stumbled upon this video while looking for ways to fix it. Step 7 worked for me. Thanks a lot for the effort mate.😉
Method 1 buy a new one
@@frozenlama23 Yeah no that adds up if you consider these controllers ARE SEVENTY DOLLARS and DO NOT LAST FOR WHAT THEY'RE PRICED AT. However if you are joking that's pretty funny. But seriously man, 70$ these mfs should be lasting years! My official 360 controller is over a decade old and besides cosmetic issues it has no drift or anything whatsoever. it also wasn't 70$....
The air worked for me lol
Partially dismantling the dualsense and removing those rings to let my canned air get down in there seems to have done the trick, this second controller will be useful with Elden Ring long play sessions. Thank You.
Awesome
How do you remove the rings
@@veryveryindecisive You can carefully pop the rings out with a needle or something. To reseat them, push in by hand around the circle til it clicks back in flush.
@@GinoBrand5 thanks 👍
This seemed to work for me. Canned air and then a vacuum along the edge of the stick as I rotated it to allow air in&out of the housing.
I just followed your video the other day. It was nerve wrecking taking apart the controller; but I did manage to fix the drift issue with my left stick using the DW100 spray.
Thank you very much for the easy to follow step by step video.
Thank you for the detailed description in your video. Cleaning using a vacuum after removing the black cover as described worked for me. No more stick drift for now.
Thank you 🙏 a literal eyelash is what was causing my drift! Got it out after disassembling and it works great!
Dude it worked so well! It's like brand new now! I was nervous to pop open the little orange doors but I was glad I did. Lots of gunk in there.
I love you bro. the straw method (method 4) worked like a charm. Never had an easier fix and it's the best 'How To fix' video I've seen. Thank you.
It was scary taking it apart but with your video I managed to completely fix the drift issue my controller was having. So damn satisfying. Thank you man!
which method did you use to fix
which method did you use to fix
I would say for most people experiencing stick drift method 7 will get you back up and running without stick drift again for a while. You can probably do this for years to keep your controller working. Thanks for the video and good luck to all.
Method 4 worked for me…Blowing air with a straw solved my problems…Both my Dualsenses work now as a charm…Thank you so much sir…!!!
I didnt think the bowing air method would work but it totally did. Thanks man
Thank you so much! Method 7 worked for me. My right stick drift was so severe that it looked like someone was actually pushing it up all the way violently. The tutorial was very helpful. The only trouble I had was to take out and putting back the upper ribbon cable.
YOUR TIPS FIXED MY CONTROLLER!!
God bless you my good man!
I used the straw tip.
Thank you so much, your tutorial saved my almost brand new controller! No more drift! You're the best!
You're my hero, method 7 worked for me. Got all of that dirt off from the inside of the magnetic strips and it is working perfectly. Thank you!
Glad it helped. Hopefully it's still holding up.
question: It's been Months since this post. how's is the stick now? still good?
@@seffinspace Sorry for the late replay, but I am happy to say that even to this day they still work perfectly.
Amazing and thorough guide! Eventually had to take it apart two times cause I didn't dare to open/touch the little potentiometer doors the first time, but I had nothing to lose and now everything works like a charm. I did apparently manage to rip the microphone ribbon when putting both sides back together (the part that needs to be slid in between the white outer case hinges , but hey, not like I use it and weirdly enough, it still seems to work... Thanks a million!
Thanks. I think that mic can be bought online.
Fantastic video thank you for being clear and explaining each step while dismantling the controller. Helped me fix a squeaky thumb stick. I will say I had a bit of bother with the microphone ribbon and couldn’t work out how to reattach the rubber part which came off for me but I don’t use it anyway so not particularly bothered.
Was having problems turning with the right stick, luckily only had to remove the black strip and blow out the debris to get it working again. Thanks for the instructions.
i can't thank you enough for this, after almost a year of pure pain it finally got solved with method 4
Thanks sooo much I was so scared I’ll have to spend money to replace my controller. The air blow trick through a simple paper roll did the job. Thanks again!
Method 7 worked for me! Thank you!!
Thank you very much ~
I just did step 7 right now,
And so far it's fixed and works perfectly 👌
Method 6 seems to have cleared up my drift! Was nerve racking for sure but all in all not that hard! Thanks man this was invaluable!
Method 7 worked for me like a charm. Although I have to admit I was looking for this method when I was searching as I did the same for my DualShock 4 controllers and it worked on them as well. Thank you for the tutorial, I hope 6 or 7 work for everyone else here as it might look already very hard to get there, but once you open a DualShock 4 or a Dualsense once it is easier than how it looks.
"you´re god damn right"
Commenting for the algorithm. I had to take mine apart, method 6 seems to have resolved my issue.
Thanks for the video!
Didn't believe it'd actually work but disassembling and blowing air worked! Thanks, saved me $70!
Thanks alot for the guide! Got mine working again had to take it apart which is nothing new to me, but ur guide made it alot less of a headache
Method 6 was the one for me, was happening alot at my ps4 controller that hairs and debry caused a drift, I was sure this one will fix the drift issue at the ps5 one as well.
Thanks alot, you saved my weekend !
Method 7 worked for me! No more drift. Thank you 👍
Beautiful guide. Step 7 worked for me. Thanks a lot brother!!! 💪🏻
Hey dude, thanks so much! Method 7 worked for me - I replaced the wiper of the potentiometer (and a ribbon cable I broke while dissembling lol). So it only cost me £3 of parts instead of £60 for a new controller!
Glad it helped
Best video to fix the problem bro thank you honestly 💯 love how you gave different options to fix the controller and showed it in detail thank you saved me 70 dollars my brother
Thanks, brother!! Fixed my drift... and i also heard some golden sun tunes in the background!!!
I tried methods 6-7, and it worked perfectly!
Thank you so much :)
Excellent!
Thanks, man, for the very detailed description of everything! I am not a tech guy at all, but managed to disassemble and reassemble my controller step by step, thanks to you video. Unfortunately, the problem still persist. My right analogue stick sometimes goes spazzing when I push it to the left. Well, time for another controller, I guess. But, thanks for your tremendous help!
You should be able to sell the defective one on eBay. People buy them for parts.
I'm having the same problem it drifts to the left really bad at times
@@jefferyprevento4431 Tell me about it! It is so annoying! You just cannot play like this at all! Thing is, my PS5 is less than 4 months old. Everything is brand new. I mean, my Xbox One controller is, probably, 6 years old, and has seen enormous abuse in terms of usage. This bad boy hasn't moved an inch! Still, as good, as the day I bought it! PS5 controller - faulty after less than 4 months. Talking about next gen!
Same happen to me
@@edgarector Mine is less than 2 weeks old and started drifting. Was going so good until. Now it's frustration. Has me searching a bunch of these vids ever since. And apparently a whole lot of users are experiencing this drifting issue. It's a pain in the you know where.
AYYYY lets gooo! I did method 6 into method 7 and it worked. Thanks a ton bro
IT WORKED!!!! I love you step 7 worked for me and the qtip came out dirty asf
Ended up working my way up to method 6 and my controller works better than ever. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Not all hero’s where capes . it literally be the channels with no subs that got the best solution. good shit man
Love the details you made a great video thanks bro
Method 7 fixed 2 of my controllers. Thank you! Not sure how long it will last, but better than nothing at the moment!!
Thankyou for going slow on taking the controller apart I had three controllers that had stick drift, I cleaned all three with electronic alcohol, electronic cleaner and a dry cloth to clean up the liquid then used canned air to blow out access liquid then put the controller back together and tested and all 3 work like new now. 😎😎👍🏾👍🏾
my left stick was drifting to the left, and i hated the idea of having to open my controller. I decided to try and even though it was absolutely teriffying, i followed every step and managed to solve the problem with some alcohol on the left/right sensor. it no longer randomly goes left. I know this video is already over a year old, but i still wanna thank you for saving me 70 bucks, very much appreciated 🙏
Thanks so much man i was considering buying a new one until i saw you you helped me alot keep up the good work hope you get famous one day
step 6 seems fixed my controller for now . Thanks
I had to take it apart all the way and clean the contacts, WORKED THOUGH! Thanks
surprisingly this method work for now, and damn i almost go to the nearest repair shop in my town, ggs man tysm
Greetings from Brasil my pal!
I have to thank you a lot because of your very well explained guide, I was able to fix my left drifting joystick.
Method 7 worked for me.
Thank you very much for it!!!
Very helpful, thanks buddy. Keep up the good work!
you do not know how much this means to me i would have gone crazy, thank you
Glad it helped!
Fixed my extremely drifty controller with method 6. Thank you so much!
Yo this helped so much, I used the straw method and it worked really well
Thanks! The left stick drifted some fierce. One of the disks had gotten mangled. I bent it back into shape and voila, perfecto.
Thanks. Wow. I truly appreciate how you presented the video of least pain to most pain. I had no idea about the reset hole on this particular device. I appreciate that you mentioned it was a long shot, BUT IT WORKED!!! Thank you. Seriously. Fair enough that I am a moron, and you essentially told me to, "turn it off and then turn it back on", but I was not aware of HOW to do that. Thank you.
If it seems like I am being sarcastic or facetious, I am not. I am grateful to you for putting forth an attempt to help rather than hurt. IT WORKED! HUZZAH!!
Thanks. As I did not had a straw, I made one using a post it note. This method worked for me
Worked! Step 7. Thank you!
Don't know why but method six completely fixed my issue. Thank you so much for the video
Glad to hear that
Thank you very much, I use method 7 , fixed the drift problems of both of my PS5 controller!
Have not tried yet.. But by far the best video on this problem. thanks
A very thanku bro.. Step 7 worked for me. Saved my 6k Bucks
Thanks man, had to go all the way to method 7, contact pad was filthy!
Cool. I think some of the plastic flakes off and gets in there, and also dirt from the factory.
Totally fixed my drifting problem, SUB!
YOU HELPED ME SO MUCH DUDE THANK YOU
WOW! What a explanation!! thank you 🔆
Holy crap I tried method 4 and it worked like a charm omg. Your the GOAT 🤩
The straw thing actually worked.Thanks!
awesome!
It was working for me thanks a lot from France !!! 😊
Can’t really believe this, but method 4 actually worked. Congrats for the video!
And the only cost was air!
STEP 6 AND 7 WORKED FOR ME ON MY OLD CONTROLLER, TOMORROW I'LL DO THE 'NEW' (6 MONTHS OLD) ONE AS IT'S SEVERELY DRIFTING
Thank you so much for making this video the straw method pretty much fixed both my ps5 controller and my switch joycons for me
Like the retro SHINOBI tune...... Brings good time memories. Good video.
You are rare. Most people watching this don't know that music.
Picture..... I've been playing VIDEO GAMES since "1979" and seen a HUGE library of titles. And believe it or not I still own my very first ATARI 2600 that I got in 1980 and still in really good condition with the box with some fading corners. And not counting my huge selection of OLD SCHOOL collection of systems. And all I can do is enjoy watching the new generation trying to collect this old school systems today.
Dissatisfied at searching this 6 months into Owning the system but appreciated learning it’s a major problem thanks for the helpful video
try 1 month
Thank you :) Number 7 worked for me. Saves me a lot of money ;)
Method 7 worked for me. I tried all the others before but didn't do anything then tried step 7 and boom fixed and It cost me nothing because I already had tools and isopropyl. One of my little disks had build up of black stuff don't know how it got on there. Might need to replace the disk in the future. But working fine for now. Thank you very much 💪
The blow air part fixed it for me, thanks!
Nice.
Thanks man the Strow tip saved me 8 bucks and a trip to Walmart
Thank you for this I had to fix my right stick and now it works perfectly.
You're welcome!
Bro method 4 was my fix thanks for the help my guy your a life saver
Holy Crap thanks so much man. Revisiting these steps from the ps4 controller!!!
Very helpful vid! Thanks! This worked for me but I had to open the whole thing and clean both potentiometers.
Thank you so much the straw method worked almost immediately
Really helpfuil guide, it worked 100% for me. I tried all the steps. Screwed my controller trying to diassemble/reassemble it. Bought a new one which is now perfectly working.
Guys, if you dont have experience and/or the tools necessary, dont try this. The risk is way higher than the person on this video tries to show. Take your controller to a professional. Only attempt the steps on this video if you are already considering buying a new controller or if you have experience with things manufactured by robots that are 1000% precise than humans.
Late reply, but I agree with the statement that if you DONT have the tools, don’t try it. The only tools you need are the Philips head, a flathead, some pliers, and an electronics duster. I used some shitty pliers that are to pluck eyebrows and it still did the trick, but I recommend using better pliers.
However, I semi disagree that you should not try it if you do not have any electronics experience; I myself have not tried to fix ANY electronics before and dissembling it, while nerve wracking, was not too difficult. I was being pretty gentle overall, but being a little rough is not as dangerous as it sounds, so long you do it with caution. Yes, be very gentle with the cables and the actual board and connections, but do not be too strict otherwise you are not gonna get anywhere with the process.
That being said, I only did it because I had a “dummy” controller with super horrible stick drift and I wanted to practice before doing it on my main controller. Step 6 worked like a charm and the controller had never felt better. I highly recommend only doing this if you 1. Have a dummy controller , 2. Are very desperate, or 3. Are just bored lol.
I tried method#6 Thank you your method fixed my controller 🤗👍🏽
Love the Nintendo music in the background - reminds me of playing one of those insanely difficult Nintendo bosses
Thanks a lot, i didnt think it would help but blowing directly inside the stick helped to fixxed the drift.
I was very close to just buy a new one
wow the blow air worked alot of people said do a air pressurizer even tho theres none in my country and only for cleaners thanks alot from the deepest of my heart
Bruh at this point im starting to think sony left those stick drift problems on purpose to force people to buy there expensive controls😂😭
Doing the 8th one really worked for me as I had dropped my controller off my bunk bed and couldn't move to the right thank you
Cool. I did not realize the suggestions in the video could help in that situation.
@@HowToX neither did I. I couldn't find anything online and it just started working again
Thank sooo much bro took me days until I saw your video bro
Great video, it was pretty scary to take the controller apart, one thing I found that helps is to use tweezers to remove the ribbon cables. Also something I didn't realize is that the microphone (and some other cable), with the square rubber housing does not plug in on both sides (which confused me a lot), they go in the casing of the controller, so don't worry about them like I did.
So scary. I almost died.
Me timbers were shaking rapidly
@GamingTheSystems: Modern great guide bro, scary opening the doors though, but completely fixed my stick drift! 😃 Cheers mate!
My right analog stick was jittering when I moved it. I was kinda surprised but blowing on it with the straw worked. Much easier than taking it apart.
Thank you so much you helped me fix my controller much love ❤
Dude the straw thing worked! Thank you!!
Cool. Sadly, there's a lot of people who just buy a new controller without trying that.
Thanks for the help . Made cleaning my stick and cracking my sticks super easy the photos such a great idea
Hello friend, my remote had a lot of dirt on its potentiometers! I'm a careful guy with my controls. I think what you say about dirt in production is something to take into account! thanks to this video my command does not suffer from dreeft 😎
Hells yeah you just saved me 75 bucks!!! Method 6, blew it out and soaked it with DeoxIT! Your the man!!!
