- There's a brand new PETE HAM archive release called GWENT GARDENS, which features unreleased demos from 1967 - 1971...
and I'm here to tell you about it. And if you aren't familiar with Badfinger and/or Pete Ham, I'll catch you up to speed! - Zábava
I'm going to buy this when it comes out. I've been a Badfinger fan since the late 70's. Thanks for the preview.❤
Love your content Steve. Thanks for this- You introduced me to Badfinger in 83! Love that Matted Spam!
Hello Steve, hope you are keeping well?
I'm a new subscriber to your excellent channel, on the subject of Badfinger, I was born and bred in Swansea South Wales (Pete Ham's birth place) and work just around the corner from Gwent Gardens.
Its such a shame that so many people in the city appear to be mostly unaware of Pete and Badfinger.
Such a tragic tale of what might (and should) have been.
When we visited the UK a few years back, we stayed in Swansea for a night BECAUSE of Pete and Badfinger.
@@chissumworthington Doubtless you would appreciate of how humble a place Pete Ham was brought up in!
For aesthetic beauty, the nearby Gower coastline is very pretty though👍
Thanks, Darren. I'd love to visit Swansea... like my brother (Chissum) did... but I'll live vicariously through you and him! And thank you for subscribing and watching / commenting!
@@StephenSchnee Ah so Chissum is your brother!
Honestly Steve, Swansea is very nondescript.
Our very own poet Dylan Thomas perfectly described it as an '....ugly, lovely town....
Anyway, the pleasure is all mine regarding subscribing to your excellent channel, love your enthusiasm👍
I have all but this new demo release, and thank you so much for bringing it up. I've always loved Pete's music. So sad what happened to the band and members. take care
Thank you! I am currently stuck in jury duty and can’t respond in full but I appreciate you watching and commenting. Thank you again!
Yes!! Woke up at 5am, got a cup of coffee, and found your outstanding video! You know how much I love Badfinger, Joey, Pete, Tommy, and Mike (Ron too)!! Did not know this was out, must look for it!! Say No More is a fave! Airwaves! Wish You Were Here, Straight Up, No Dice!! Love em all!!! All the other releases too! Cheers 🍻
Thank you! I am currently stuck in jury duty and can’t respond in full but I appreciate you watching and commenting. Thank you again!
Fine overview, sir!
Thank you, my friend!
Hey Steve! I was so excited when I heard this was getting a CD release! I have both of the Ryko CDs and that Variety Pack, and this is such a great addition. It is incredible that, much like Marc Bolan, he had such a vast amount of unreleased and/or unfinished material for someone who left us so young. I echo your statements, I don't think I know an artist so personal and confessional in their writing on Pete's level, save for John Lennon himself! (Honorable mention for Chris Bell?)
I love hearing these demos, especially as recorded, and demonstrate a brilliant artist doing what he did best. Great video and recap (and collection!) as always!!
Thanks Brin. Your support is always appreciated!
Just found your channel , great work, I have Golders Green and a copy of 7 park Ave , I need this , from the clips you played it sounds great !
Wow, those song samples are incredible, Pete was such a gifted songwriter. I love Magic Christian, No Dice and Straight Up but you’ve reminded me to listen to Wish You Were Here. It’s nice to know that Pete’s legacy is getting the attention it deserves. Cheers!
Thanks, Russell. And yes, the demos on this release (and the other releases) are fab. And yes, please give Wish You Were Here another chance!
Wow this is a real treat! I used to have those other Pete Ham CD's and always regretted selling them. Pete really was a gifted young artist with a phenomenal sense of melody and a beautiful voice who was cruelly destroyed by his manager.
Hi Richard. Time to dive back into the music of Pete Ham!
@@StephenSchnee Timeless!
Great history of Badfinger, enjoyed it. Will be checking a bunch of these albums out.
Thank you! I appreciate it. They are definitely much more than just a band on Apple Records (which is how some people view them). So many great songs!
Thanks Steve; another great video!! Did you really say A$$ on your video???😂
Stephen I have to say your shows make me feel like I'm back in time. Your radio voice the format etc. I use to listen to CHUM Am in Toronto and FM 108 Host Rockin Robbin oldies music at night . I'm almost 67 now it brings back fond memories.
Thank you very much, Johnny. Your kind words are very much appreciated!
Great video Steve. Really interesting.
Thank you so much! I appreciate that very much!! Love Badfinger!!!
@@StephenSchnee Defo. Have a great day✅✅
Hey Stephen, wasn't Ron Griffiths involved in the two Rykodisc demo alums as well? Thanks for letting us know about this...
Excellent & informative video, Stephen. I have the two greatest hits CD collections, but I still hope to pick up some of the original Badfinger CDs while searching in the wild.
Thank you so much! And definitely give all Badfinger releases a chance, not just the more popular albums!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for this. A great summation of one of the best bands ever. Wish You Were Here is your favorite album? Except for McCartney's Ram, it's mine too!
Thank you! I am currently stuck in jury duty and can’t respond in full but I appreciate you watching and commenting. Thank you again!
Love Badfinger...I'll have to check this out.... Peace and Love... Terry and Julia Tutor
Thank you! I am currently stuck in jury duty and can’t respond in full but I appreciate you watching and commenting. Thank you again!
@@StephenSchnee I have been stuck there before.... Don't worry about it... Peace and Love, Terry Tutor
Thanks Stephen! About the only thing left to release is a Pete Ham documentary. Wouldn't that be loverly?
That would be fab. But I understand that more Pete music is coming!!
Absolutely as great as the Beatles. The Raspberries up there as well. Pete, Tom, Joey, Mike. Along with Raspberries Eric Carmen, Wally Bryson, Dave Smalley Jim Bonfanti, & Scott McCarl, Michael McBride..o
I always loved Badfinger! They just seem to have never reached their potential as a huge band yes as successful as ELO but the Curse of Badfinger blighted them! Such a sad story of a great band!
Thank you! I am currently stuck in jury duty and can’t respond in full but I appreciate you watching and commenting. Thank you again!
Great video Stephen I have that album Magic Christian Music and a 45 with Day After Day , Money on the flip
Thank you, Johnny! Much appreciated!
Steve's t-shirts are in the wash today!
Nope
@@StephenSchnee I don't think you've ever made a video with a buttoned-up shirt
@@yournamehere6002 A change is a comin'....
Pete Ham, Tom Evans, and Mike Gibbins, are all sadly missed! Badfinger has always been one of my top 5 bands of all time! have personally met both Joey Molland & Mike Gibbins..a year before he passed, such a humble and wonderful guy! I spoke with him for about 20 minutes at a BEATLES fest! Thanks for this video, Stephen. Take care, Allan
PH 😮
Where is the link to buy it?

For those who don't know, most of Pete's demo compilations are available on CZcams.
BTW, great video.
Thank you so much! I appreciate it!
Best demo album by Pete?
I'm a big fan of all of them. If you want to hear demos that were later given overdubs by other musicians, you'll want the first few releases but if you want demos to sound exactly as Pete laid down, then Gwent Gardens is my fave.
Stan Polly was garbage. But I had no knowledge about these Pete Ham albums.
Agreed about Stan... and definitely check out those Pete demos albums. Lots of unheard gems. Joey has a demos collection out and even Tommy's estate released his final demos as Over You
@@StephenSchnee I looked for those Pete Ham albums but did see much at all. You know this is a coincidence, cuz over the last few weeks I've been going through a Badfinger phase.
@@truthmonger5791 Here's some demos to hear. I know that 7 Park Avenue and Golders Green are out of print, but should be relatively easy to find online: www.youtube.com/@peteham-official9260
@@StephenSchnee Thanks!!! I didn't know there was a Pete Ham YT channel. On Badfinger Origins they look so young. I was just about to listen to Meanwhile Back at the Ranch / Should I Smoke.
It seems like Badfinger was cursed.
Some say that is true.....
