Loved this band
highly underrated
So sad how it all ended for them😢
I agree, the worst part is that like everyone says: Polley lived a happy life and died peacefully. That's what pisses me even more, the evil succeeded, unfortunately.
A great talent so sadly missed and needed even now, I can’t believe it is 49 years since he passed. RIP PETE 🙏🙏
I think he would be an even better songwriter if he was alive right now... Stan Polley is a shame of a person, RIP Pete Ham.
Wow what a straight up rare talent he was
He'll never be forgotten
Thank you for posting. This is a gift for us Badfinger fans.
As a foot note to the second management contract prior to the Warner contract, the band was advised not to resign with Polley,.
It’s unknown what pressure was put on the
band to sign, but the long term saw the negative end results. The entertainment business is a double edged sword, sometimes extremely good or absolutely awful. In the case of Badfinger they had so much to offer. If Pete and Tom were still alive, Badfinger could have easily gone on for another 5 to 10 years.
Perfectly said, sir. And what an interesting comment you've posted! I'm the one who has to thank you for this comment, all i did was to upload this song from Variety Pack. Really, thanks for sharing your knowledge about Badfinger.
And indeed, if Pete and Tommy were still alive, Badfinger would not only continue for 5 or 10 years, but probably would be more famous than it is.
This is a greatest memories song for me,it means so much to hear this❤
I'm happy to see Pete's still making people smile with his work.
I have waited this long to hear Pete's demo..but the mix was interesting..I just wish there was more info about the recording itself...once again..Pete and the whole band deserved so much better..the fans will never forget the music
You're right, i was also surprised to see a full band demo. And yeah, the lack of information is kinda sad, maybe trying to contact Ron Griffiths or someone from Pete's family can help.
Just friggin' amazing ! What an incredible song, demo, or not,
The acoustic demo is still lost, but you're right! What an incredible song this is, a masterpiece indeed.
Pete was a musical Genius Bless Pete Tom Mike RIP Love Nige xx
RIP, all of them were Geniuses and nice persons
@@cavaleiro747 Thank you for remembering them .
@@dekalbes335 You're welcome, that's all i have to do while i'm alive.
Straight Up was one of the greatest albums of all time.
I agree, it's pretty good!
Those sweet 70's. Loved them 30 yrs before Walter Wright. No One Cares!
@@kennyhall2118 Walter Wright?
Yes, it is
one of the biggest injustices in rock history, RIP
Yeah, a huge loss to music in general.
@@cavaleiro747 their songs will continue to echo for eternity...
@@joaop002 A Timeless legacy, for sure.
It was a time of real music. Wish I could return to those days
You're right, lots of great artists!
Still got a pick Joey Molland gave me in 1998 nice guy.
That's really amazing, sir! Joey is also a great person.
I never met Pete, but I did meet his brother when I purchased a Paiste cymbal from John Ham's music store in Swansea back in the 1970's. I still have it today.
Thank you for sharing your history, was John a nice person? Also, you are a man of luck.
@cavaleiro746 It was a long time ago. I really don't remember that much.
@@163andyc I see, don't worry, man. Your history is all i need, thank you again.
I recently went to see Joey molland and of course he talked about the badfinger days and music. he said “baby blue was a great fucking pop song.”
And he is so right about that, i wonder how he feels about the Head First songs.
You lucky so and so😊
Sadly I just lost a kitten that I had named "Baby Blue " her last moment was to be her running with a big beautiful smile on her face.
I'm sorry for your loss, sir. Your kitten is now in a better place, for sure.
@@cavaleiro747 she passed with a happy place in her sites
@@TroySoileau She must had loved you all. RIP
Never understood why in all their TV appearances, they had to mime the instrumentals. They could play. Let 'em play.
Probably contratual matters. But still, i agree with you, they not only were capable of playing, but they were geniuses. Such a shame they weren't allowed to play.
49 years... damn it.
Yeah... A whole lifetime, man. Pete would be 77 years old in three days. Unfortunately the good people always suffer, while the bad people succeed.
@@cavaleiro747 Yeah, I guess it sums up a great part of life. At least we got Pete and the gang to being with.
@@RockinAllDay You're right, we should be grateful that they existed in the first place.
We miss you Pete.
@@jaquelineylonen We really do.
The demo rocks
Yeah, it shows how much talent they had.
Thank you again for this gem Cavaleiro. We're so lucky that you have these Demos.❤
You're welcome. It took me a lot to find the Variety Pack (Where i'm still thinking if i upload everything and take the risk of receiving a strike by Ron Griffiths, or if i wait to see if he changes his idea about the uploading of Badfinger's content [It may be a bit weird, but some guy said i should be cautious regarding to Badfinger and if my channel is or not famous, because if it gets too much attention, i'm probably gonna be screwed over]).
Just explaining: Ron is a good person, but someone must have made him believe that uploads of Unofficial Badfinger Content screws the band (Which is not the case, considering the fact that there's a ton of Badfinger content that is turning slowly into a Lost Media, and we need to preserve it).
Isn’t this likely to be the original version of the song recorded by Geoff Emerick rather than a demo by Pete at the Golders Green house?
Well, i agree with you. But, for some reason, Variety Pack names it as: "Baby Blue (demo)", although there is indeed an acoustic demo (Not found).
PP Arnold does a fantastic version of this with that big ‘Spector ‘ type arrangement.
Marvellous indeed
But PP Arnold did not a cover of this song, her Baby Blue is actually from her autorship. But her song is also pretty good.
Why didn't the Beatles manager take over and help them. Maybe in hindsight every decision we make may have changed outcomes. They deserved better.
Brian Epstein (Beatles Manager) unfortunately died in 1967. Mal Evans (Beatles Roadie) was prohibited to be Badfinger's manager (Because of Bill Collins and Allen Klein).
I could not find any details about that piece of $hit Polley only one image on a Badfinger documentary. Simply looking for the story on how this snake came to be, a bio if you would. Nothing, unless you want to pay for it. Sad story for a memorable band definitely.
There's plenty of details on the "Without You" book, although i don't know if you have it on kindle. But still, the worst part is that he lived happily until 2009, while the band suffered for 40+ years. I hope he's burning alongside John Cass (The other manager who screw the band, but this time in 1982/83, with Tommy).
Это так и есть
What a dumbo he was signing a contract with Polley a known con artist. 😂😂😂😂
They didn't knew who Polley was, don't blame them neither call them "dumb".
@@cavaleiro747 they left Apple and signed a contract with a known conman
Polley
What dummys there were. No wonder Ham poped his Cork. 😊😊😊
Polley victimized several clients including Badfinger and Lou Christie.
They trusted him with their future and fate and he betrayed them.
It is far too easy to criticize Pete with what we now know
@@user-ob1oi7kn2wPlease verify your facts before you post them. Polley was their personal manager while Apple was their record company until 1973 when it shut down until the 1990s.
Polley urged them to sign with Warner Brothers, which promised them an hefty advance which Polley took for his own company.
They released a self titled album followed by the excellent Wish You Were Here before the group became aware of Polleys treachery.
I glossed over some of the details, but that’s the gist of the story.
Badfinger are certainly not the last artists to be ripped off by their management.
All of the core group members are deceased except for Joey Molland who I’m not a fan of
@@TheGizmo61 yes he was a right b.....ard
RIP, lesson learned though! Don't hire a Jew as your band manager!! 😭
Wait, what?
lol
