  • So, it has been a long while but I am back to using expoxy resin to make bowls. I am actually really surprised how good this turned out. Plus, I got to film with my new Sony camera and the picture quality is much better than my previous two cameras. I am stepping up my game. Hope you guys like the video and that you learn something. Hmm... I have to edit my comment now, as I just watched the video again. Either he changed the commentary or I was the very very high one. Lol!
    Definitely would love to give this a try soon.

    How water proof is it? Does its shape change at all?

      You could put water into it but the epoxy isn’t food grade and wouldn’t recommend drinking out of it

    Keep up the good work. Complete learning material. I'm hoping to see some more of these types of projects using saw dust.

    Hi, i f you wanted to get a sawdust resin mixture kind of like play doe. consistency.. What ratio by volume do you think it would be ??? i am hoping that 1 part resin to 4-5 parts sawdust... Just asking you since you may already have a good idea.... thanks

    • @saultytexas
      @saultytexas  Před 4 lety

      Honestly, I’m my experience it’s more of a consistency of the resin versus a real ratio. I think once the resin and the sawdust have been mixed it should feel like cooked oats. Idk if you have ever cooked outs but it should have that kind of consistency. Kinda like paste but a little bit more runny. That usually gives a good mix consistency. Hope that helps.

      @@saultytexas i understand... i just need it as a fill for hollow art work i make for strength not its look as it will only be seen if turned up side down... dryer means more cost effective... i am hoping 1 to 6 ratio since i sell these pretty cheap and need only enough resin to bond saw dust together...thanks

      It’s a 1:1 epoxy. Makes pouring easier.

    I have a huge bag of fine ironwood sawdust and I want to make use of it this manner. Would that be feasible? I note the comment down earlier on plywood and I dont understand why sawdust would be a problem unless u mean it would be a weak block

    • @saultytexas
      @saultytexas  Před 2 lety

      As long as you mix enough epoxy with the saw dust it should be fine. If you don’t add enough epoxy you might have some chip out when turning the blank.

    Why don't you just pour the mixture in a mold with what shape you desire!?
