I don't know why people would think the flute would not be great with "Take 5." It's not the instrument playing the music; its the person playing the instrument, and this woman and her combo/classmates threw down (did great)! Great going guys!
I used to play this in the 7th grade, 1963, I was playing alto in that year. in fact, before band class, I was playing it, then over the intercom, we heard Kennedy was shot. I'll never forget that day.
I PLAYED THIS TWICE TO MAKE SURE that it was as good as I thought it was originally and it was. The flute & the brushes all had the right touch. I believe these solo's were transcribed from the original solo's, the drum solo partially THIS PERFORMANCE IS A KEEPER !!!
The flute gives a completely different vibe than the saxophone. It is nice though
How can you listen to this rendition of such a classic jazz tune and not walk away absolutely loving the flute?
Awesome! I'd like to know what score they used, I play classical guitar with a flute player. Thanks! Tim
These young musicians were making MUSIC. That was their main concern. Not going through some kind of individualistic competition or malabarism of sorts. The more I listen to music and watch people performing, the more I value what these guys did. Thank you, Jazz Laureate.
oohhhh man the drums are on point
very very good........................................................................................
Great! Very nice surprise...
Sometimes you find some classic you just want to play endlessly on repeat. Like this iteration.
I adore the flute's voice with the tune.
The subtle sound of the flute is extremely relaxing and puts me in a good mood and gives me serenity, Thanks!
The Brubeck Quartet would be proud of your performances. Bravo!
Definitely one of the nicest renditions I've listen too. Nice work for sure.
The entire quartet sounded like and preserved the original vibe of Brubeck's rendition. Absolutely BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
As I staunch Brubeck fan I didn't think I would rate this, but absolutely superb !!!! well done , a very difficult piece to play, beautifully performed, I love it! going to put this on my favorites!!!
If we had never heard of Paul Desmond, THIS would be a classic.
Awesome version - the drummer did a great tribute to Morello's legendary solo while making it his own!
I did not think they could pull it off. Surprised me. I was getting ready to be disappointed... Excellent!
