    In the video you mention that the GMT is without lume and you’re not sure if pilots would need it. As an airline pilot, myself, I can say that the majority of the time that we need Zulu time, is while on the ground, for mission planning/flight plan filling etc.
    What I DO use more commonly in flight is the second hand. I wish it was a traditional style second hand, with lume.
    That said, I’m STILL strongly considering this beauty!
    Great presentation!

    What a watch. Got it pre-owned unworn for USD 1550. Loses a minute every three weeks which is COSC level accuracy. Oris makes good, durable watches as affordable prices. They are the unsung hero of the watchworld. Deserves a lot more attention and credit.

    I wish they had gone for a full sized second hand. For me half the attraction of a mechanical watch is seeing that beautiful sweep of the second hand.

    You can get the Oris warranty purchasing on the grey market. At least I did when I purchased my Aquis cal. 400

    A really hi quality review... Hi quality photography, hi quality comments showing pros and cons... FINALLY a manufacturer providing a watch with a BI-DIRECTIONALLY moving minute bezel (the uni-directional bezels are good for diver watches but NOT in aviation). This timepiece can really be used in the cockpit to navigate old style VFR with map, compass and watch. And since times always are noted in GMT format in aviation, the GMT function is very welcome too... Must resist the urge to go to a store tomorrow morning and buy one... Actually, why should I resist ?? ;-)

      @EscapementWatch  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for the kind words! You should not resist!!! And also check out today's new review on the new oris aquis 400 41mm.

      @@EscapementWatch In fact, the new Caliber 400 is an extraordinary movement with exceptional specs. Unfortunately I don't become warm with diver watches of any brand. It is the other direction for which my heart beats (up in the air :-)). A little patience is needed... ORIS will give us a caliber 400 in an aviation watch yet this year. But nevertheless, the Timer GMT might still be a precious part of every watch collection and the Sellita SW200-1 is a precise, robust and reliable workhorse built in millions of watches (your Timegrapher proved it).

    • @EscapementWatch
      @EscapementWatch  Před 3 lety

      Totally understand. I love my Flieger. And according to people around me the most it's the watch I wear the most!

    • @xpusostomos
      @xpusostomos Před 7 měsíci

      The bigger problem with one way bezels is you'll usually find them with 60 or 120 clicks and marked with 24 hours, and 24 does not go into 60 or 120 evenly. VFR navigation.... I tend to think small seconds is inappropriate for VFR navigation because reading exact seconds is so critical. So I don't see this as a navigation watch, more just a travelling / pilot watch.

    True GMT movement?

    • @EscapementWatch
      @EscapementWatch  Před 3 lety +3

      no its based on eta 2836 the sw220. You can jump the GMT hand but not the hours hand. No jumping hours.

      @allthingsgilmour Před rokem

      @@EscapementWatchwhat exactly is meant by "no jumping hours"? And not a true GMT? Just wondering

    • @xpusostomos
      @xpusostomos Před 7 měsíci

      @@allthingsgilmourit means when you pull the crown and spin the gmt hand moves, not the hour hand alone.

  • @CaptCanuck4444

    The lack of the bracelet micro adjustment is a real shame. Not luming the second and gmt hand seem like obvious oversights as well.

    • @allthingsgilmour
      @allthingsgilmour Před rokem

      I would have to agree, no micro adjust on an upscale watch is unheard of. And the gmt DEFINATELY needs lume

      @@allthingsgilmour Depending what you call upscale, Hamilton is notorious for lack of bracelet adjust.

  • @kanemillard3315

    That's a cool piece and i love design but no micro adjust is an instant deal breaker for me. If I can't make it comfortable I'm not going to wear it.

    You "...NEVER SAW..." a lift/lock wristband mechanism before.."... REALLY? They seem to be on EVERY metal bracelet watch sold today. In fact? The older, leather belt style band is almost impossible to find these days! ALARMS? Mechanical ones? Now THOSE are the REAL rarities. YES, VERY, VERY, EXPENSIVE IF YOU CAN?!!!

    • @EscapementWatch
      @EscapementWatch  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes the shape of it the way it is a flimsy open is exactly like an airplane seat belt I've never seen that before
