- Both Adrian and Vilip just bought speakers. In Adrian's case, he rediscovered a lost love. Vilip on the other hand fell in love with something he never thought he would.

I think many of us miss Vilip. Whatever happened, it's a pity he's gone. Nevertheless Audio Excellence presentations are still wonderful and I always look forward to them.
I like these older videos with Vilip in them.
They are still bright and in your face. That’s their sound signature 😅. That’s why people like them. But over time they became more main stream and they are quite ok today.
Excellent Video!!!! I think Vilip is very fortunate to work for, and with Adrian... I think Adrian is very fortunate to have Vilip work for, and with him!!! Good Vibe from these two... Always!!! and Good on ya, for all your Donations!!!
You know - It's Jerry who makes all the difference... Don't forget Jerry...
Thanks for the audio talk ! I have learned so much from you all
Loved your reminiscing about these olden oldies of hifi stuff. Rolls back the years for me too. Please give me more of these sorts of presentations, guys.
Great conversation !
Thank you for another great video!
Nice Atlanta Falcons shirt. What a fan boy!
Great conversation and sharing of your experience.
This was a great talk about vintage gear that is still great and your experiences with them! Would love to hear about each of your collection of gear you both have been amassing. More videos on great used gear experiences! Thank you both!
Great talk. Its nice to hear these experts have the same type of fond memories that I have from years ago. Always look forwards to your videos and wonderful that you are so charitable.
i could listen to these guys for hours brings back great.memories for me 😊😊😊
I’ll watch this a couple times. This is what you guys are about. And this is the type of stuff that makes me want to buy from you guys. Almost too but those fees into the states kill me. Keep up the good work.
Love the gesture Adrian, too bad I have too much equipment already or I would but the Celestions!
You guys are great. I’ve been Buying Macintosh audio since 1972 i’m now 76 years old. I bought my latest piece MCT 500 CD player. I love it I love vinyl to thank you for your show.
These guys seem like really good guys to work with a credit to the industry
Hi guys. Wonderful to hear your conversations. You're doing a fantastic job. Hope to see you again in the coming month. Miss you. Be well.
Your charity work is inspiring- I will make sure to try purchasing from you guys on my next upgrade even if I have to pay more to ship to US.
nice one! great stories...
Congratulations on the WP6- I also almost purchased them myself but ended up with another option.
Revisiting some of the Vilip classics. Loved this style of informal chat between seasoned audiophiles. Plus you guys touched on a subject very close to my heart - Celestion. I have Kingstons.
I too had an obsession with celestion and recently found a pair of sl6si in excellent condition.
Thank you. Your videos make me feel comfortable, it is such a good vibe, hard to find in this world (in general and audio world in particular). My happiness in the lost and found Mendelssohn Violin E got me out of my box to comment. Thanks to all of you.
Vilip is such a funny guy! If i’m ever in Canada i want to meet him!
SL700s are awesome. I owned SL6es and SL600si's before moving up to Apogee Duetta Sigs, this was around '89.
Your friendship is so engaging and endearing…not calling it a bro-mance mind you 😎. Love your videos and I learn mucho from them.
Crossover design is also a huge factor regardless of driver material. That said some driver are very difficult to work with, do you remember the focal Kevlar tweeters 😂
Loved the video..wow some amazing gear. But my favorite was ur fur babies especially Ocee...I also have a white Bichon named Trooper who is 13 and coming to to end of his life. Such an Angel and a wonderful gentleman...... Definitely brought a tear listening to ur story an feeling your emotion.... Soo sad to think about the day that is coming...
At any rate im very intreaged with your Jolida Fusion Dac CD transport...
Can't wait to Research.......Thanks..
Watt Puppies are also on of Steve Guttenbergs all time best list.
So much great (albeit expensive gear) but so little time and not enough money!
My first pair of bookshelf speakers were Celestion. Bought in the late 90’s. Had them hooked up to Adcom 5500 amp. Sound was good but the tweeter went out on one side. Had it repaired from where I bought them but it went out again. Never bothered to fix again. Just gave them to my parents.
I bought a set of Paradigm bookshelf speakers. Pretty sure they cost less. Maybe don’t sound as good but they have lasted for years.
I had the Celestion 7000 floorstanders with the big ribbon for many years.
Congrats Vilip, I have my next step in my journey on the way. I am trading up from Magico S1mkII to a pair of Rockport Atria II.
BTW, I think the Canadian jazz band you guys were trying to think of was Holly Cole Trio.
The Celestion speakers had really good tweeters. I have an SL7 Acoustic Suspension for my bedroom system. My brother has Model 15 floor standers. There are two things to fix. The crossovers were coils were glued with Hot glue which has dried and the coils can be falling. Both of these used Eletroytic capacitors. They should replaced with Film capacitors. There is one in
the Seven and two in the 15 as example. The woofers used quality surrounds that still work after all these years. Its not your imagination that these were advanced for there time.
Alison. Holly Cole does a fantastic version. Now I need to listen to it.
Wow. How many commercials must one endure to watch your videos? Holy cow!!
Depends on the amp that's running the speakers that makes it or breaks it.
I definitely coveted the SL-6's back in the day but could not afford them. Sound familiar? Great chat!!
Totem | Monitor Audio | Alon Petite are offered wonderful sounding mini’s with metal dome tweeters, and here we’re once again talking about designs from the mid 80s | late 90s.
This video was a story to behold it was so expertly put together 13 mins in i had no idea of what's going to ve in the story.
That's Christopher nolan level stuff ❤️❤️❤️
Ps: the story was better than many million dollar budgeted movies.
Vilip is an awesome name
Have either of you owned or heard Gershman Avant Guard speakers? I'm interested in your impressions of these full range speakers.
Can you talk about Anthem and Paradigm, Canadian products? Thanks for the great discussions- entertaining and informing.
I had some Paradigm Monitor 7’s, v3 if I remember correctly, quite a few years ago, absolutely loved them. Sadly a few years later they were stolen. Had a complete setup, believe the rears were the Titans, and I can’t remember what the Center channel was.
Great video guys. Thank you!
What's your opinion on Monitor Audio Platinum 300 ii vs Sonus Faber Olympica Nova V?
I'm broke because in the last 2 months I've spent $95,000+ US on McIntosh, dCS, cables, interconnects, and a fancy rack.... do I regret it?? Heck no! .... btw guys ... do a review of that McIntosh C1100 sitting there behind you!
I got pair of SL6 right in my room now.
Eat Your Words: the combination food and word processor. Also, do you need to wear Kinky boots when you listen to Kinki amps?
Adrian, you and Vlip should do a video of your pride collections.
I remember upgrading from my 1987 $200.00 Pioneer speakers to a pair of Klipsch Forte 2's and the difference was night and day, then sold my Forte 2 speakers and got a new pair of 1998 Paradigm Reference Studio/100 Loudspeakers!! while the difference wasn't night and day it was a improvement with a smoothing sounding speaker than the Klipsch, and the Studio 100's have an incredible amount of real deep bass and that is with tone controls set at 12 o'clock.... i am so pleased 22 years later with my Paradigm 100's, i wonder if it would be a night and day difference between those 1600.00 Paradigm Studio 100's i have and say a speakers costing between 5 - 10k in today's market?? any thoughts? Thank You....
i HAVE heard people say they can't stand WilsonWPs (and other speakers) and i never understand it because i had heard them at a show, set up by David himself driven by the Jadis Defy 7. that happens to be the amp of choice for that speaker. it was in open space and playing was trumpet and sax at live levels with no strain AT ALL.
at other shows, i had heard both Krell and Sutherland amps that both ran out of steam at the loudest levels. my summation is that ss isn't the way to go with Wilsons (haven't heard the D'Agostinos or Constellation, CH, etc) but tubes a la arc and VTL. i would love to get to hear the WAMMS (i am a big fan of all the component parts of that loudspeaker. one of my stable of 3 pairs of speakers is the Fried Model R II which uses a KEF B139 for the lows. i have also put many hours in front of big IMF Monitors so i adore that driver.
another speaker i have heard maligned is the LS3/5As which i owned for much too short a time. the Frieds utilize the T27s and B110s just as the Rogers. of those drivers i am also enamored. i rather wish i lived close enough to your store to visit. i am a former Buffalo resident that left in 1970 for the climate of LA.
it's always worthwhile for me to sit through your reviews.
...hifitommy
I’m surprised you don’t carry Canadian product lines, like Bryston or Simaudio Moon
Congrats Vilip! You know you are getting older when ........... j/K LOL From Daniel. Stay safe! Still Enjoying the Sophia 3's.
Adrian - can you share what version/album of Mendelssohn you're referring to?
I love my SL700SE!
I used to have the SL600s,powered by Sugden pre/power amps, and they were quite magical.
Are those old JBL speakers up for sale?
well done on the purchase guys sounds amazing
Gee, would like to see you review some KEF Blade's with a Hegel H590. Can I come when you do?
Moral of the story? If you haven't heard it then YOU HAVEN'T HEARD IT!!!
congratulations Vilip! what are you going to use for source components?
One part will be Jean Nantais Lenco L78 with RS-Lab tonearm and Shelter cartridge fed into Tom Evans Groove+ phonostage - digital section is being reconsidered and thus in limbo.
@@vilipmak3973 sounds like you are well on your way to having a reference system to sink into and enjoy. congrats on your beautiful speakers Vilip
I'm an Australian hate the cold but can I work there willing to learn the art of buying I mean selling . Been fixing and improving speakers for 30 years ?
I wonder how you might fell about avant garde. Best thing i ever heard.
The German horns?
@@bikemike1118 yep. Enchanting.
@@matthewprentiss1460 🙂...I actually live only 50 kilometer away from their factory. But must admit I‘ve never heard them in person. Together with fine tube power amps they can be good, I suppose. But like all horns they probably have a special „horny“ sound to them...matter of taste. As almost everything in this hobby. Do you own a pair of those?
~$5250 USD, I’ll call that an absolute steal! Wilson’s have been on my list for a couple of minutes now, being the likelihood of affording MBL’s isn’t in the cards.
Well done!!
Whats the cost of the refurbishment done on these 6’s??
Jerry: Blood sweat and tears :'(((
Which piece of gear is that over Vilip's shoulder in this video? It also appears in your intro (last amp shown)? Thanks!
If I worked at an audio store I would never have money
Nice purchases! I have a question.. i am saving for a pair of wilson sabrinas, will the kinki studio monoblocks and kinki preamp be sufficient for them? Or is this a complete mismatch and should i save some more for a higher end amplifier?
Kinki is a very good choice - I was driving the W/P6 with the 1st Gen Kinki Monoblocs. You might want a more liquid sounding preamp - I used a Shindo.
@@vilip119 thanks for the info Vilip!! I will check out the shindo as well
@@vilip119 which Shindo did you use?
It's not called the "Violin in E"; it's called the "Violin Concerto in E minor".
why hasn't the Technics SLG-700 SACD player been reviewed? It's the least expensive HQ SACD player with XLRs that Im aware of
What about the 12s?
Hello guys, Do you ship to the US?
Please do NOT use scripts! This is awesome stuff - I love it!
Why is this listed as content for kids where I can't even adjust my subscription alert?
Luxman
King Jay is dead, long live the King!!!!!
Jay is alive and well and living in Scarberia - he's a reviewing fanatic - NBT Studio Rocks - I don't know how he does it! Oh... to be young again...
SHINDO LABS indeed........
High end audio is a scam.
"A fool and his money are soon departed."
If you have lots of money then you need to find things to spend it on. You can’t take it with you.
@@aussie8114 "You Can't Take it With You" is my favourite movie of all time. I believe it puts a very truthful perspective on the saying.
