Cheapest tweak of all: get your speakers position, distance, toe-in right as well as your listening position and height.

Great video. I have a lot of cheap tweaks: hockey pucks under heavy amps and integrateds for isolation. Vibrapods for isolation underneath all over electronic components. Cheap door stops with rubber or rubber style bottoms on top of components to keep them in place and dampen microvibrations. Audioquest Jitterbug for your type A USB sockets. Turntable brushes and stylish brushes. Greenwave RFI and EMI measurement tool and Greenwave EMI/RFI filters. Supra cat 8 Ethernet cables on eBay. You can even use wine bottle corks cut in half lengthwise to put under lighter components for isolation. Lastly, DH labs and Zu Audio cables on sale. Hope that helps!

The concrete blocks are the most effective cheap tweak. If you have a strong enough flooring. Those blocks are stackable. With the holes in them they can work as a defuser as well. Milk crates are not as heavy. A bunch of them stacked up all around can defuse sound. Zip tied them together so they don't fall or come apart.

Great suggestions! The AC purifier would have inductors for reduction noise, not resistors as mentioned. Some high end equipment would/should have these in their power inputs.

If your speakers are on the floor and you add spiked feet (less then $40), you will notice a cleaner sound. Hi-Fi tuning Fuses (from $40 to $100), for DAC, CD player, preamp, or Amp. Noticeable upgrade from just a fuse. Cable elevator/risers, to keep speaker cable and interconnects off the floor, can give you a cleaner sound, can be had for under $100.

All these tips are useful and appreciated. Their are so many small cheap things in this expensive hobby that do provide results. Another one that is free is speaker positioning. If your able to experiment and try different walls, toe in and out, back wall distance, distance to listening position and how far the speakers are apart. This is free and could have a huge effect. And use a measuring tool like Adrian recommends. Sometimes even really small adjustments can go along ways. I second the use of cheap spikes for speaker stands. They really helped decouple the interaction with the floor. Helps tighten up the bass significantly. And no longer one note bass.would love to try some cheap antivibration tweaks for my dac and amp. I wonder how many tennis balls I would need for a 120lb amp lol. I have seen some of these noise sniffers for the ac used and guessing they are more than $100. Be cool to look into some models if anybody could recommend some? Thanks for putting this together and you guys should consider making more videos like this!

@@yaniv-nos-tubes thank you! That sounds interesting. I'm pretty sure anything is better under my amp than carpet. As much as I have spent on this system I have looked at racks with some isolation. It's tougher when my amp is so deep. Almost 2 feet. Would have to be a special order shelf for that lol

I use a gel pad under my tennis balls. It is honey combed and helps stabilize the balls. Also, try taping a laster point to the top of your speaker. Place a white poster board behind your listening area with a desired sonic 'impact' location. Mark an X on the board where you want the impact area. Then turn your speaker with the laser on until it lines up with your x. Another trick I do is to place a bag of lead shot (used by scuba divers) on top of my speakers. I'm using 4 lbs. each speaker. I also daisy chain my Panamax 6 protected outlets, separating the CD input from the Amp inputs. I'm using four of the Panamax 6 outlets which seem to help filter the AC.

Blue Tack White Tack is excellent for ensuring small components stability and droppage prevention, it is electrically magnetic and conductivity inert. I use it myself but do be aware after awhile it requires replacement due to drying

Soundsmith recommends lightly touching BluTac upwards against your stylus to clean the diamond. Since no chemicals, no chance of dissolving diamond glue. BD cones are 25+ years old so less publicized. Because of 1/4 20 threaded insert, I used them as the three feet for my Revox CD players. Must listen to select whether 3 or 4. Byron's partner designed the sniffer which is basically an AM radio picking up from the power line. They also invented the Audioprism green waterbased ink pen and could show that on a scope its improvements to CD playback. There first product was one of the most advanced indoor FM antennas. They also made a very high end tube preamp and basic amplifiier.

This will cost a little more, but the sonic benefits are 2nd to non.
Encapsulate each of your components with the exception of your speakers, in individual worktop freezers. Buy the ones with metal bodies, not the cheaper plastic bodies. Turn the freezer thermostat to it’s lowest setting, normally -30!
The low temper will do 2 things. Vastly increase the efficiency of your electronics and extend their lifespan. The metal body will act as a Faraday cage virtually eliminating any electro-magnet of RF interference. I guarantee that you will be stunned by how good this will make your system sound. A £3000 hifi system, encapsulated in individual freezers will easily outshine a £30,000 system in an open room.
The only downside is that it will not work with wireless devices. I would also advocate that with the exception of your speakers, all components and their respective freezers be housed in a side room, or sound insulated cabinet, as the multiple compressors can get noisy. These freezers also provide a dust free environment for your electronics and protect them from direct sunlight. When your audiophile buddies come round for a critical listening session, they cannot prejudge, or build up a brand bias, as they can’t see what brand of components they are hearing. It’s a wi win scenario!

Very disappointed you guys didn't even mention audiophile fuses, they have made a phenomenal improvement to my already highly resolving system. Also oak butchers blocks under your equipment particularity turntables. Granite offcuts from you local masonry or stone supplier or kitchen work top suppliers, place one under each of your speakers and hear the difference. All my suggestions are discrete upgrades that are affordable and wife/girlfriend friendly.

Get as much 10-12mm mdf as possible for the money and make as many diy 'leanfuser' diffusers as possible. got to be the heaviest and biggest tweak for $100.
sorbothane domes are quite cheap and better than squash/tennis balls.
foam egg crates - put them in a panel frame and put some fabric over it like hessian - probably decreases performance a bit but for a vastly increased WAF.
(i think even audio note recommend blu-tac...)

What about washing machines feet dampers?
I put my subwoofer on a folded yoga mat.
I used bubble wrap for transporting my Magnepans. Now I put the same bubble plastic behind the Magnepans to absorb rear firing sounds.
I use small doormats to absorb reflections from the floor. One for each speaker.
Distance lasers are awesome. They are just 20 euro.
Put some cushions behind your head to absorb soundreflections from back wall or window (in my case).

I wonder how hockey pucks would work, isolation-wise. If I come across 4, maybe I’ll try. I have a concrete floor so I don’t really worry about isolating the speakers/subwoofer. Pieces of felt will isolate speakers from stands, keeps them from walking off of the stands, and protects the speaker bottoms.

I am sure you know the very effective Densen de Magic CD available for free on CZcams.
    From tnt audio:
"I have had, in fact, the feeling that the sound, at the end of the treatment, appeared cleaner and more transparent, with beneficial effects in regard to the soundstage. It seems as if a light curtain, that somehow darkened the musical signal, had been removed. The most evident improvement is in the higher end of the spectrum, where the sound clears, eliminating in some cases, a certain feeling of granularity on the upper midrange, but beneficial effects are also appreciated on the micro-contrast and naturalness of emission."

You didn't mention CD maps and no they're not snake oil
Best feet is to use squash balls Pierce a hole get a syringe fill them with tungsten powder 50% more dense than lead best feet you can get.
A conductive polymer liquid for interconnect speaker cables power cables sold by chord a game changer. Increases electron flow along the connector and socket skin effect more surface area this is always the weakest link in a cable. And use banana plugs for speakers that tighten themselves.
Always have your deflection panels absorption panels away from the wall this makes them more effective you could use the squash balls i mentioned or 1" rubber door stops best material is natural sick wool fleece double this up make sure you go behind the speaker not just in front of it and place another panel 3 feet across just touching your chair and in front of the chair or sitting area and ideally in the corners 5 feet across, right to ceiling ideally bending out at 45-degree angle or have a separate panel in the corner at a diagonal overlapped by the long corner panel of 6-ft a gap is ideal. If you find the top end is dead undefined have the panel just below where the tweeter baffle would end about an inch from the tweeter leave a gap of about 6 inches on the first panel 12-in on the second panel give or take and you can go above that.
Windows use bamboo blinds that are lined with thin wool fleece you can attach this with ironing on tape used for curtains
