    Hi Bill. Love the video as I do all the others. I have watched some multiple times. The issue of tweaks is interesting and what a tweak is, is in the eye of the beholder. But I have some differences in opinions from you. Here they are: I think changing the design of a component is nuts. How would you do that anyway? Change out capacitors? That is not tweaking. That is major surgery and now the component you bought is a different component. So one of my definitions of a tweak is something you can add to your system or room that can be easily removed or reversed so your equipment remains stock. Next, I am a clean power fanatic. So a power conditioner or regenerator is a component and not a tweak. One of the classic tweaks is audiophile fuses. Lots of manufacturers make a great product. Sometimes with the best wiring and then the power is routed through a cheap steel 5 cent fuse. This is the basis for companies like Synergistic Research. The fuses that aftermarket companies make theoretically may seem better than a 5 cent Home Depot fuse. But do they actually improve the sound? I don’t know. Synergistic Research makes other things I would consider tweaks. I am trying some. I don’t know if they are helping or not yet. Lastly, I would differ with you on the use of tweaks in an inferior system. I don’t think tweaks make enough of a difference to being with and only a superior system will be sensitive enough for a tweak’s difference to be heard. A midfi or worse system has issues already and I don’t think a tweaks difference can be heard in that since there are other issues there already. A superior hifi system which is more sensitive may display the change of a tweak more readily because it is more sensitive and with fewer other issues masking the tweaks changes. But again in that kind of superior system the tweaks I am talking about would be fuses, ground boxes, and footers. But then again, with a superior system, one might have less need to tweak anything. So it’s complicated.

      The whole thing is complicated for sure

    Great video, thnx
    IMHO, only mechanical sound sources and MAYBE valve equipment, make sense to isolate from vibrations.
    Engineers have invested enough knowledge in a high-quality equipment, so that a tweak can actually only spoil it.
    45 years ago when I bought my first audio equipment NO ONE mentioned cables, everything you needed was included with the device. Seeing how gullible audiophiles are, cable manufacturers began convincing them that cables matter and multiplied their profits.
    The room was "ringing" a little, I put a sheet for the beds on the wall opposite the speaker, the "ringing" stopped.

    Very good video. The camera’s focus is on the bookshelf though :-)

    Good review and does high end power cable class has a tweak?

    • @gttaudio
      @gttaudio  Před 2 lety

      My discussion by no means meant to encompass all tweaks, there are thousands more. If you were using a PC in part of a loom of cables then absolutely not. But if you separate it out and start to roll power cords for a component (like tube rollers) then I suppose it does.

    I’ve been doing this for a long long time. I’ve tried so called tweaks in the past. Yes, they change the sound but rarely for the better. The only “tweaks” I currently use are foundational meaning racks and stands.

      Mark, Thanks for the input and yes a great rack or shelf is essential under all components.

    Best tweak in my system is whisky. :)

    Hi Bill this was a great video or advice you gave today. I have my KS speaker cables up on wood lifters. I never would have figured the manufacture my have designed them to be on the floor. I will be taking them off today and listen to the sound. How do you feel about the Planck-2 on a HRS vibration platform ? I my need to remove it and also listen. Thanks for taking the time to give advice.

      Russ, Thanks for the input... always best to try things back and forth. The Plank 2 I suspect will be just fine on the HRS but never hurts to try...

    I’d agree if you proudly own something you wouldn’t change it. I am also curious about your view on the rest of the Auralic G2.1 line. I own the ARIES G2.1 which I’ve heard you speak well about, do you find the Vega G2.1 a worthy addition or do you believe the Tambaqui is the only worthy DAC to partner it?

    • @gttaudio
      @gttaudio  Před 2 lety

      I consider the Tambaqui the ultimate dac but think the Vega G2.1is a phenomenal dac if you can’t swing the price of the Tambaqui. In fact if I were looking for the ultimate dac under $10k the Vega G2.1 is the one I would go for and is what I recommend.

    The focus appears to be on the records behind you, so that you're out of focus. Haven't noticed this on your previous videos, just trying to be helpful.

      Bill, thanks for noticing. Because of time constraints I couldn't go back and re-shoot the video. It was very frustrating when watching it. Sorry about that.
