The joy and happiness that a pet brings into your life completely trumps the pain of their loss. That is what makes it worth doing over and over again, the pain is temporary but the love is forever. Sorry that happened,, Matthew, life takes its turns on all of us.
Matthew, I'm so sorry to hear of Dakota's passing. I always enjoyed whenever he would work his way into the camera shot. By coincidence, my 9 year old Great Pyrenees named Ursa died this fall as well and I'm tearing up just writing this. I know how you feel. We do love our animals, don't we?

Man I hate to hear that and I certainly know what you are going thru. It’s been almost a year and a half since shop boss Baily passed on and to be honest the shop just isn’t the same. I sure do miss my shadow. That dog followed me everywhere for 17.5 years. It was a good run but that probably just made it all the harder. It’s hard just to type this reply. Good luck!
A tough loss. It's too bad that dog's life span are not closer to ours. Found are current dog just a few months before we lost our 16 year old dog. Take care.
Sorry for your loss young man. All of my dogs have been part of the family and still are considered to be in spirit. My current GSD Chas who is 6yrs old is by my side now. There is only him and me, but he is everything. He family, friend, business partner and the key to my life. I did six years without a GSD and it was the worst years of my life. It is always good to have other dogs to help carry the grief. Take care and all the best from me in the UK.
I’m sorry to hear about Dakota we lost a yellow lab few years ago to very similar circumstances. He was my wife’s guide dog and only about 3 years old. It was very trauma I for my wife especially!then I lost my best buddy about a year ago, he got out of the yard and got hit by a car.
Sorry the loss of your buddy. I know how you feel. People that have never had a dog will never truly understand what unconditional love is. There's an old joke about how to learn about unconditional love - grab your dog and your spouse and lock them in your trunk, drive around for an hour, then open the trunk and see who is happy to see you. 😂 A dog will be your best friend for a good part of your life, but you'll be their best friend for their entire life.
I'm still having big tears talking about mine (and writing this just now) .... I'll make this short.... it will be 2 yrs on February 2nd that he's gone... yeah, that big guy next to me in the picture/icon. He was 11y-o.
