    Always have used top Shoeis and have for over 30 yrs. I have em hanging from the garage wall over the years. Absolutely love the current X14 and have used it for almost 5 yrs now and ready for another soon. Fit, light, ventilation, visibility, aero, ease of cleaning all tops.... Works great from everything I own from sportbikes, Harleys and ADVs.... 👍
    I like Arais also, but my square blockhead has always fit in Shoeis better.

    The Shoei X-14 is awesome and now my current helmet. The Pista GP R is a great helmet as well but I sold it.
    Pista Pros:
    -It’s the sexiest looking helmet on the market
    -Great FOV top to bottom
    Pista Cons
    -Loud AF and it comes with earplugs
    -Top vents use rubber plugs and can easily be lost
    -Chin Curtain is too small and still allows wind into the helmet.
    -Visor only has two position, full open or closed
    X-14 Pros:
    -great field of vision but I feel the X-14 is better than the Pista side to side.
    -Visor has multiple positions
    -Chin curtain is huge and also has a chin deflector to further keep the wind out
    -Sexy looking as well
    -Vents EVERYWHERE
    X-14 Cons:
    -Also loud AF

    • @sportbiketrackgear

    Great video Van. I own a few of the helmets on the table, AGV Corsa R, Shoei X14, and Arai Corsair X...They are all excellent lids, but my go to is Arai Corsair X for street riding, and AGV Corsa R for track days. I find that the Shoei X14 is also a great helmet for street, but have not used very much on track. I have the transition shield installed on that one so it's a bonus when you are on long ride and sun goes down.

    I will tell everyone who reads this comment and give my opinion that I am not Japanese.
    I worked in the store and saw thousands of AGV helmets specifically all "TOP OF THE LINE"
    Helmets, Pista, Corsa, etc., etc.
    Yes, they are good in terms of aerodynamics, unusually beautiful and have more angle of vision in the Visor.
    So far everything is fine .
    The problem starts with the fact that you can bend the helmet with only your hands and I'm not a guy who practices in life, so a small question if I can bend the whole helmet with only my hands, what will happen in an accident flying at 130 kms or higher? And get smashed in the head?
    for me and im riding almost 10 years.
    Arai or shoei that's it.

    I just bought the Shoei RF 1200. I realized my local bike shop that I was trying to support by buy from their store and not the internet led me to believe the overprice I paid for the RF 1200 was a great helmet instead of telling me about the updated 1400 helmet. After educating myself on the helmets, I wish I would have bought the Bell helmet. It would have been worth the extra money.

I'm looking for the best safety gear possible, mainly the helmet. budget is irrelevant ( expensive gear is still cheaper then medical bills haha) and I'm stuck between the arai and shoei. The AGV visor gives best view range.
    Wind noise is def a lot more on the Pista. You really need those ear plugs.
    Opening the visor with gloves on is less easy than on the Shoei and it only has 2 positions.

    @Zephyr.Lo-Renz Před 4 lety +1

    Need someone’s expert opinion:
    I use to daily ride Arai’s Corsair-X comfortably in a small BUT after the break-in decided to step down to x-small for that really snug feel. Idk, maybe it’s their round shell that after awhile is just a bit too wide for me, can’t say. But I’ll admit that if I can get away with it I do prefer a sort of fitted feel on the road. Track days I switch between Schuberth’s SR2 or an AGV Pista GP RR both i wear in a size small. Of course, the SR2 has a SUPER TIGHT fit when coming on and off the dome which can be sort of a pain but it works because after break-in those really thick pads it came with do adjust and at speed that thing is ridiculously light and aerodynamic. I mean, you barely feel the helmet when in the tuck and there’s pretty much no neck strain. Well, in that regard they both are incredible helmets to ride in.
    Now, I’m looking at purchasing the Bell Race Star Flex DLX 2020 model mainly for the streets. Heard great things about it, and the reviews have peaked my attention. Now equipped with speaker pockets is certainly a plus especially when riding with the crew. But I’m stuck on sizing since I’ve seen some say that it runs big and others,... well,.. it’s confusing. I’ve never had a Bell helmet before, this will be my first. And since all the brick and mortars are essentially closed I can’t just go and try one on per ushe. So, honestly what do you think? Do Bell Race Star’s run big where going X-Small like my Arai would make sense or is a size Small the way to go?
    Also, might I add that I’m aware how Bell’s shells differ between the two sizes I’m pondering and as an average guy who’s athletic fit 5’10 170lbs soaking wet in boots that dreaded “mushroom effect” has never been my friend.
    Realizing any views expressed here are only opinions and not gospel still I gladly welcome all input. And, in advance, given our dilemma these days all the advice I can get here will be more than greatly valued.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  Před 4 lety +1

      I feel the Bell Race Star runs a little smaller than the Corsair-X does. Not enough for me to change from a medium to a small in the Corsair-X, just a bit tighter. To get the same fit from the Corsair-X I need to add thicker interior pads. For the Bell I would say go wit the same size you are wearing in the Pista. You should get a very similar fit. - Van

      @cycleholicsanonymous Před 4 lety

      Safety and comfort IMO. I have 2 RPHA 11's too fwiw. Look up SHARP test ratings on the RPHA 11. People will say it's not apples to apples since helmets in the US are built differently to conform to DOT standards. That said, take out all the pads/liner in an RPHA 11. A ton of flex, shell looks super thin, and SHARP ratings are poor. Do the same thing with a Corsair X or X-14, it's easy to see the difference and the SHARP scores reflect that.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  Před 4 lety +5

      Not unless the helmets you have need to be replaced. The Sharp rating system is hard to rely on for US riders as the helmets are most often different from the ECE only versions of the same model. When it comes to shell flex there are crashes where that can be advantageous as the shell will help manage the impact better. Typically helmets built to the ECE standard have shells that flex more as compared to models with a Snell cert.
      The AGV Corsa, HJC RPHA 11 Pro, Shark Race R Pro all flex easier than Arai or Shoei do. End of the day it is important to remember the shell is only part of the equation when it comes to impact management. Hope this helps clarify. - Van
