    Salaries need to become non-guaranteed once a player asks for a trade, stops playing, etc. Players have too much power. You can't get paid full salary for not doing the work. Harden can literally sit on the bench all season and next season for $80m. Teams cannot be on the hook for that. You know Harden would be on the court if they were docking pay every game. I think the owners are players association will eventually work this out. There are enough players that know this is just BS to get the rules changed. It's for the good of the game.

    • @lmao5127

    • @Lord_Clarke
      @Lord_Clarke Před 7 měsíci +2

      This wouldn't even apply to Harden he clearly showed up to play the 76ers themselves prevented him from playing. Also no players would sign off on their contract being voided for sitting out from games or practice, this is what fines exist for.

    • @lmao5127
      @lmao5127 Před 7 měsíci +11

      @@Lord_Clarke First, Sixers only asked him not to travel because he is not in shape since he didn't practice and play in preseason and I agree with that reasoning. Second, you can't say Harden showed up to play when he wasn't with the team for the last 10 days and not for preseason. A player can't just randomly pop up here and there when he chooses to. Third, the point about non guaranteed contracts is good, I would add a clause that says if a player misses time without the team's consent. So it would not affect players who are missing games due to genuine reasons and communicating well with their team. So I don't think players should have any problem with this, all teams are really asking is for players to honor their contracts.

    Usually Kenny coddles the players to the point where it’s annoying. But this is one of those rare occasions where he is 100% spot on. You can’t excuse the dude then hem him up so he can’t be with the team. He may not like his situation but he has been supportive of his teammates. And his teammates have testified to that over the past month.

    I feel like the point Kenny was trying to get at here (and might have tripped up on because of Chuck’s agitation) is that the overlooked heart of the problem between Harden and Morey right now appears to be a lack and/or unwillingness to learn conflict-resolution and compromise skills for either man, both because of the particulars of this situation and the resumes each of them have. I 100% agree with Chuck and Shaq’s assertions that Harden needs to be less of a diva and that the Sixers (and the league) need to hold him accountable for his actions, but I think there’s also high validity in Kenny’s point of a marked lack & high need of de-escalating interactions and conversations between the two that is preventing this situation from being resolved to everyone’s satisfaction in a timely manner.

    Kenny has a good point. Obviously Harden has not been helpful, but making him stay home - even if he didn't earn the trip - was a strange move by the organization. It felt more like trying to exercise their own power over the player for a change (understandable, with the last two years of nonsense, but not helpful to the situation.)
    Regardless, I find it hilarious that my most disliked players each did this to my most disliked team & superstar.

    I'm not sure about what happened behind the scenes, but it seems like James Harden made a *wink wink* deal with his friend Morey that they will re-sign him for the max if he takes a paycut for guys. He does that, and plays well leading to Embiid MVP. He struggles in the playoffs but was a large contributor to 2 wins in round 2. Then Morey doesn't live up to the promise. He's not being the best professional, but I can understand why he's upset imo

      Yet he's accurate in his statement. Philly and Harden keep playing this back and forth game BS with each other like the other side will eventually give in and it won't happen. This elementary school feud will go on until Philly ends it. Until then, there's going to be something new every week.
