  • Is Novak the Greatest Tennis Player Ever?
More than 3 decades ago, a 4-year-old Novak was handed his first racket and that could very well be the best gift he has received in his life. Even at that point, you could argue that he was born to play the game but that’s the case with a couple of other players, so what’s so special about Novak? I’ll tell you.

+ pure blood and treat3d like a 2nd class citizen for it. Used to hate him, then respected him, then liked him, then loved him, now favorite tennis player ever, favourite current athlete. Favorite player of all time if he gets to 24 (25?) majors to have most singles in mens & women’s game up against the next 2 mens players ever for 90%+ of his career. US Open doesn’t let him in, that’d be an absolute disgrace.
Djokovic shots work, unlike the ones he doesn’t want, like me.

  • @0SnakeDoctor
    @0SnakeDoctor Před rokem +816

I've been a Rafa fan since 2006, but I have no doubt that Novak is the greatest tennis player ever.
Neither Rafa nor Roger have ever had to overcome what Novak has. If he plays either of them, the crowd is always in their favour. In fact, in general crowds (especially at Wimbledon and the US Open, and lately at the Australian Open) have always tried their best to get under his skin. If Rafa or Roger had to deal with that level of animosity, chances are their careers wouldn't have turned out the same.
And then you add the mentality. Warrior-like. In the last decade, he's been the biggest fighter on tour with maybe the exception of Rafa. The amount of times he's been down 1-0/2-0 in sets in Grand Slams and come back is nothing short of astonishing.
He also has no weaknesses. He defends incredibly. Attacks with great variety. Has a formidable forehand and a brutal backhand. He volleys well. He covers the court better than anyone in tennis history. He slides on grass and hard courts with ease.
And most important of all, he has a winning record against his two great rivals. He's beaten Rafa twice at Rafa's favourite Grand Slam. He's beaten Roger three times at his favourite Grand Slam. He has all nine Masters 1000 and all four Grand Slams. No one else in history has achieved this. He's tied with Roger for most ATP World Tour Finals (Rafa has none). He has the record for most weeks at no 1. He will soon have the record for most titles overall and most Grand Slams.
When it's all said and done, Novak Djokovic will go down as the greatest tennis player of all time bar none.

Being a great player is great, but having principles and sticking by them under the pressure he was under is the mark of the man & gave us all the commitment, drive & determination to not take an experimental drug with unknowable consequences. To be proven correct is just, well, it was obvious. To me, & Novak too. Probably to Nadal et al, but they crumbled to the pressure instead of forming an unbeatable united front, but Djokovic still stuck to his principles, even when not just the federations were pressuring him, but fellow players too.
Yeah, Nadal, you took a risk with your body, legitimising it so regular people had more pressure to take it as ‘a top tennis player has’. I hope you don’t have any longer term affects, but I don’t even have to worry about Djokovic. 100% he’s not. He need not worry. You do. You do!

Let's not jump ahead! Throughout his entire career Novak won French Open only twice out of like 18 attempts! He needs lots of luck regarding draw, weather and other outside factors to help me tpthrough the title! And if Nadal is healthy again by the time RG takes place - it is a sudden spike in difficulty as well! I can't name a single athlete who not only contended for the big trophies alongside two other all time greats, but surpassed them. What Djokovic has done is similar to someone becoming better than Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky or Tom Brady while they were at the peak of their abilities. It is absolutely insane how much he's dominated Fedal since entering in his prime. He has zero weaknesses in his game and can make every shot in any given moment.
People don't realize it because the media often downplays his achievements and tries to paint him as some sort of villain when he's clearly a very kind person, but objectively, he has dominated the tour for OVER A DECADE. Not to mention contending with the likes of Wawrinka and Murray who are also both top 10-15 all time players and Del Potro, who, when healthy was one of the very best players on the tour.
He has quite literally won every single important tournament the ATP can offer which has never been done in the Open Era, while playing in the toughest era ever (maybe in sports history?), while dealing with constant crowd and media lies and distractions, and while being from war-torn Serbia with no resources. There is simply no one like him. He is without a doubt the greatest tennis player of all time and is arguably the greatest athlete ever. We will never see someone like Novak Djokovic ever again.

And when other "sportmans of the year" hit referee, ball collectors or crowd it's funny, but when Djokovic unintentionally hit Oscar-awarded referee it's DEFCON 2.

Novak is the GOAT. Most weeks in number one by a large margin by now is a GOAT achievement. Winning a slam can be a fluke but being no. 1 solidifies your status as the best. And the fact he's #1 in Slams. If he didn't miss couple of recent slams, he's basically leading right now.
It's just silly to debate this by now, all statistical numbers are in favor to him and couple of ridiculous feats. Had Roger/Rafa has his achievements right now, they will be called GOAT now with no debate. It's just wild how this guy is in the shadow of Roger and Rafa all these years.. well in fact he's the MAN.

It is my opinion that he has, time and time again, prove to be first and foremost a quality human being. And also the greatest tennis player of all time. Most people are casual watchers of tennis. Normally, most folk like to watch the best against the best. Most folk, when you break it down, in reality do not care so much about Fed or Rafa nor Nole. But most people have become so lazy that they are metaphorically speaking…being spoon fed by the media on what to think and what to believe. It is the western media who have been on auto repeat…always calling* him the villain. Apart from 2-3 things that could be considered as mistakes, he continues to be a total beautiful soul on and off the court. Anyone with even a little bit of intelligent critical thinking knows that the mainstream media does not know how to be honest

As a Fed fan, I always respected but also hated Novak. Everytime Federer had to face him I had to get ready to be hurt, to see him battle just to die at the end, being very close. I HATED Novak, but I admire him now. He was always against crowds, the press overlooked him multiple times in favor of Fed or Rafa and since WB '19, Federer for me lost that, almost, unanimous title of GOAT to Djokovic.

When you factor in that he was denied participation in so many tournaments on grounds that have nothing to do with sports and was disqualified from one slam because of what was a pure coincidence (US Open), and that despite that he is better than everybody else in all segments except the number of Grand Slams won, where he is tied with Nadal, then OF COURSE HE IS THE BEST EVER.

Since 2011, Novak 21 Grand Slams, Nadal 13 and Federer 4. Novak has dominated this era with Nadal’s clay dominance (9 of his 13) is the only thing keeping it relatively close. This era of tennis has been amazing with the 3 greatest players of all time playing at the same time making Novak’s accomplishments even more amazing.

THE GREATEST EVER!!! There is no good argument against that 100%!!! Hat’s down to Roger, Nadal and other great players throughout the history of the tennis but Novak is slightly above all. One thing that I might add is that a guy like Alcaraz may (big question since there is lots of factors that can disrupt his career but let’s assume for the sake of the argument that everything will be fine) one day surpass Novak in the number of titles, that still wouldn’t be enough to say that he is the greatest of all time since he didn’t have Roger and Rafa to compete against. Hate me for saying it but that’s what I believe. Players like Novak come once in a millennium!!!

As a die hard Federer fan, it’s hard for me to have to admit it, but Novak is the GOAT. However, if everyone is going to just count who has the most slams as the GOAT, then the race isn’t over. Nadal still has a chance if he can get his health right. But there is no denying Novak’s numbers. The guy is pretty unbelievable.
