Well, slightly in their defense, they are very old-school religious type. Catholic Cardinal‘s I believe. So they were probably planning on trying to take him out with faith alone and not with fire power. Because if you notice, every time Arnie shoots him, it’s pretty much useless. pretty much with any other movie about exorcism or the devil, they hardly ever have weapons. Only weapons they have is holy water, the Bible, maybe even some Latin spells. Or with supernatural, they do have guns, but they’re not loaded with regular bullets. It’s rocksalt.
End of the day though, they were just terrified. All the reading that they had done over the last thousand years told them just how evil Satan is and when he finally came up to earth and displayed his power and what not, they just got terrified and forgot all about their faith.

More like near decapitation, the way his head was so flimsy after that neck snap, plus that was a full 180 snap nothing left but the skin.
I think at that point any of Satan's demons could have entered that church with how those priests defiled it with their attempted murder.
This was surprisingly one of Arnold's best movies. Gabriel Byrne's, too.

I remember mistaking Gabriel Byrne for Al Pacino at one point way back before the films actual release.
3:00 The dialogue here in conjunction with the neck snapping is humorous as hell and the hands thrown in mid air back to the sides is just pure comical artistic cinematography screenplay here.

I just said that Satan, being a fallen angel, has a lot of power, and that's why he causes chaos when he enters the church in his true form. Because he is an evil angel. But he will never equal God.
The ground shaking is a sign of his presence, did the same thing when he rose out of hell and causing the man holes to burst fire, and at the end of the film when he arrives in his true form, although he can go around without any violent tremors, i also think it's something he does to instill fear on people, cause he has full control of it

Great line. It's a Glock 34, a alongside version of the Glock 17 9mm. The round capacity in a magazine (not clip) is 17.

Even if they did succeed in killing Christine, Satan would just resurrect her, and without her soul, it would make her more compliant to being his wife and to bare his child, so yes, not only killing her wouldn't stop the End of Days, it would have set it in stone!
