Just replaced mine, thanks for the vid! My 02 didn't want to let go of the old alternator, took a bit of cursin and pryin. The belt is a bit tricky. I put clamps here and there to hold it on while I worked on it.
When reinstalling: the mounting holes on truck have adjustable insert collars, similar to what is on a caliper. Push those to the front to avoid all the hammering on the alternator, makes the alternator slide right in. Hope this helps.
I wish I had read that 15 minutes ago. But I got it back on. Unfortunately I had the alternator and the battery checked. Both were ok. Now I have to figure out why the "battery not charging" message was on, and the "service air bag" message was on, before the truck died as I was driving.
@@glutenfreejm3 A bad alternator will put both of those warning lights on due to a severe voltage drop. The service air bag light should clear on its own along with the not charging light. The air bag circuit is continuously checked while the vehicle is running and with new alternator installed all this should clear up.
I was disappointed that the alternator installation tool didn't intersect into the camera with significant force. After smmashing the battery tray, I thought it would've been fitting.
Get a bigger hammer. You may not have ruined your new alternator enough with that claw hammer. The electronics inside that thing aren't designed for that kind of install Jimbo!
SMFH I am 63 been working on 4 wheelers all my life. I know that whenever it is more force then you can put out with the palm of your hand there is a danger of damage, just sayin

Would of liked to see more detail. Camera moves around way too much I can't see what you're loosening up to loosen up the belt.

You don;t beat it in, the ears for the bolts in the front are easy to break off, back off the spacers first without a hammer!

This looks exactly like the engine compartment on my 2007 new body style. Pretty sure the older ones were different.
