HAHAHA "Let him cut WAY THE FUCK BACK." omg, this is great... Tolliver's character all through season 3 is amazing. I liked his dealings with Francis Wolcott as well. Deadwood is amazing.
Love when Cy isn't in total control of a situation, and comes a bit unglued... Like a cornered wild dog, but funnier. 👍😄👋😆 "Don't Fk w/ the Fkn deity Leon!"
incredible scene, cy watching his chance at revenge slip through his fingers by way of his own theatrics, simultaneously being unable to quit the farcical preaching and rambling, and also confronting -through leon and con's incompetence - his own declinining worth. 'I wish fucking eddie was here' he must think as con's bloated face leers away from the door, possibly ruining Leon's execution in the same manner Leon ruined reverend Crame's. masterful
Powers Boothe is so awesome. In the end you realize that Cy Tolliver, despite the upper-class facade he puts on, is way more fucked up and sadistic than Al. Al has a soul beneath all his evil, but with Cy it's like there's something below all of that - some kind of hate or something - that just makes him so much worse.
I've watched "Deadwood" 784 times. My conclusion is that Tolliver is actually just a bully, compensating for his being a coward. Swearengen is neither, but rather a realist, simply. Cy gets by while he can. Al makes his own way.
What does Cy call the opium Leon is using? The m-fking "doojie"? This must have been an old expression. Amazing acting, and one of my most favorite scenes from Deadwood.
POWERS used the F-word in nearly every sentence and he is such a great actor that it looked like he was the REAL person! Funny to. "Oh Christ a F'ning mighty, I'm so F'ing glad you Andy with forgiveness in your F'ing heart,,,,"
Cy suffers (gets stabbed and treated like a dog by Hearst) because he mocks God, The Spirit, by not participating in the raising-up of the Community. He's guilty of the charge quoted in Matthew 12:31. But, even though he continues to mock, he sets himself on a path toward redemption, even praying for the first time through Leon. He acts as if it's all a joke to him. But it is? His hammy revival tent performance seems to tip us off that he's scared that he's beyond forgiveness. Crammed, avatar of The Spirit come to help Cy, says "I'll speak to you another time." The greatest travesty of Deadwood's cancellation is that we never got to witness Cy's full transformation from a woman-hating blasphemer into a redeemed early feminist. Fuck.
@@Monk_ChudIt wouldn’t have been cringe or preachy. Cy still would have cantankerous and horrible, but he would have left the Bella to Joanie thereby empowering her and encouraging her independence. He already did this in season one and it wasn’t cringe.
@@StudentofgossetHe was mocking, but Crammed was no devil by this point. For someone like Cy, even mockery is a step toward something new. He literally says (to no one) “Deception don’t preclude the search for fuckin conviction”. He’s trying in his own shitty way.
Phsycho Cy! He does feign human emotions frequently, which is a tell... At least he's funny w/ his phychosis (ya kmow...b/c he's not real). BTW I think all pimps are sociopaths kinda by default.

"....Get the fuck up, Leon." The tone of his voice when he says this is perfect. RIP Powers Boothe, a tour de force in every role he played.
The movie felt shallow and empty without Cy or Merrick.

“Do not fuck with the fucking deity Leon! You’ve got to come at him wholehearted! Even when you’re asking for partial relief!”
I've never heard Opium or Heroin called "doujie" before.
One of the funniest scenes in the show. And that’s saying something.
When sarcasm is taken too far

+Colonel Hart Yeah, I'm re-watching Deadwood again and I've come to the same conclusion.
Al had the hope of something better for his people, to justify the suffering.
Cy had no hope. Everything was rotten, and he didn't pretend otherwise.

Had to have had a worse upbringing than Al.
@KrowsnoseSilly comment
One of my favorite Deadwood scenes.
Love this scene! Very twisted scene in an amazing way. Only in Deadwood..
Gotta love that Derringer...
You can get 1 for 150 bucks
Typically in this scene he would have shot the Reverend. But David Milch subverted our expectations for a good comedy moment 🤣

''Dujie''. It's a slang term for heroin, but apparently far too new (the internet says it originated in the 1950s) to be accurate to ''Deadwood''.

He was mocking the reverend, a devil citing scripture. Illustrating the farcical nature of people acting "holy". There was no redemption.
'Redeemed early feminist' I'm glad s4 didn't happen, that'd been super cringe
