Kawasaki Z900RS Delkevic Header

  • Here's a quick running video of the Delkevic 4 into 1 header pipe that works with the original muffler. This is a great sounding system and really helps bring out the character and exhaust note of the bike. Check out my Track, and Tail of the Dragon videos for on road sounds (links below). The install was fairly straight forward but the rear mounting point did prove difficult. I've had the system on the bike for almost a year now and am happy with the results. This is a great alternative to the Akrapovic system which costs much more. Please feel free to leave any comments or questions you may have about the system.

Have been watching your videos before I bought my Root beer Z900rs. Cool
Content, thanks for sharing! Now I am thinking about these Delkevic headers...can you share a bit more? Some people say it s quite loud with original can? What are your thoughts ? Also how long did it take you to install and finally despite the “no mapping” required, did you feel any performance change on the bike? Some say a Dyno run after install might be necessary?
    Thanks again!

Question - how did the downpipes stand up over time? Did they remain a bit golden colour, or did they crud up badly?

My bike is identical to yours, except the bikes outside of US have LED indicators which are much better than your incandescent globes, but we don’t get the helmet lock on the LHS like you do. Michael, just yesterday I spoke with Ivan (at Ivan's Performance) about that beautiful quad muffler Delkevic. While Ivan has not obtained one to dyno test he was not so enthusiastic about the performance potential of 4-into-4 systems. In his experience, they make less power overall than a good 4-1, although they might have slightly more midrange power. Ivan said from his perspective there is no real reason to buy it unless the looks grab you. To tell the truth, I was a bit bummed after chatting about it! But Ivan is a straight shooter, so there it is.

Hey! Great video, thank you. Hows it holding up after a few months/miles of use?
I just fitted the same to my Z900RS here in the uk and also kept the OEM muffler as I like the look of it..
When you fitted the new headers did you find that you had to put some spacers between the delkevic link pipe hanger and the bike to bring it out about 13mm. Other wise the stock muffler won't join up straight? Also, because of this, i found myself having to use the stock bolt as the one supplied was too short. Annoyingly the stock nut for it is captured on the CAT. Being an unusual thread pitch I had to source another. I like the look of it for sure. But I had not anticipated the volume! It seems the CAT does a lot of the muffling!

I started to subscribe to your Channel.
Thank you so much for the tip and the nice video, indeed. This one has got more completed information. I like the original exhaust tail-end pipe, so it is a great idea to keep the same original end pipe also the O2 sensor could stay the same spot.
It is splendid if I can take the ugly box away which is catalyst.
Bypassing the catalyst must make much better looking. Let me ask one more time.I organized my mind more now.
    1) But isn't is affected the power and torque since I don't adjust INTAKE side?
    2) So with your system, I may attach to the engine and the header can connect into the ORIGINAL exhaust tail end pipe directly. Is that right? The necessary volts and whatever I need in the package from Delkevic?
3)I hope I get a slight improvement of torque and high-end power will be super.
4)For the sound, I want to confirm your impression. I love low rumbling sound. It is hard to hear on CZcams, but it will rumble more? Is it your impression?
    5) I believe that I can set up this without any modification of the angle of pipes or setting new volt holes or any welding. Is that right?
6)When I check the Delkevic web. site. I only see the set comes with its end pipe silencer.
But I don't think it is not what I should get.
What do I need to order? to keep the ORIGINAL tail-end silencer like yours?
Or, maybe what you did was getting the whole set with the tail end silencer but you did not use it, instead of it, you attached the original tail end pipe. Is that what you did?
Thank you very much. I do appreciate if you could reply when you have a moment.
Sorry for some of the Qs are redundant.
