DIY Multi color LED for Christmas decoration. How to change color of white LED

we are making a multicolor led strip in this video. I have use the led strip form an LED tube light and changed its color to make it decorative.
don't use normal wood polish for this project or will heat up and release toxic fumes..may even catch fire.
